UN Resolution Bahttp://www.typepad.com/t/app/weblog/post?blog_id=132946&id=12066629&saved_changes=1d for Israel

The editors over at One Jerusalem.org point to a critical analysis by Ambassador Dore Gold of the current UN resolution. Apparently if this resolution passes under Chapter 7 it's possible  that the UN might one day impose sanctions or military strikes against Israel for taking preemptive action against Hezbollah.............

Read this analysis of the UN Draft Resolution on Lebanon by Dore Gold.

Ambassador Gold points out that the Resolution calls for the establishment of a multinational force under Chapter 7 of the UN Charter.  Chapter 7 is the Chapter that deals with grave threats to international peace and security.

It was under Chapter 7 that Iraq was required to disarm after the Gulf War, and it was Chapter 7 which the US invoked to go to war against Iraq.  If a Resolution would pass under Chapter 7 it is quite conceivable that the UN might one day impose sanctions or military strikes against Israel for taking preemptive action against Hezbollah!

"For its entire diplomatic history, Israel has sought to avoid a Chapter 7 resolution dealing with Arab-Israeli disputes" said Ambassador Gold.  With the UN's consistent record of anti-Israel resolutions now is not the time to change that policy.

The world's obsession with the "cessation of the violence" is wrong, wrong,wrong. The world should be preoccupied with disarming, removing the Iranian foreign legion, Hezb'Allah not providing a hudna so that these jihadi killers can rearm and regroup.

Saving Hizballah - Editorial
Is the United States about to blink - and allow a cease-fire to be imposed on Israel before Hizballah is fully neutralized as a long-term threat? If so, it would be a colossal mistake, boosting Iran and terrorists worldwide. No cease-fire should fail to leave the murderous band materially defanged, with most of its weaponry and infrastructure destroyed and its fighters gone from Israel's border. Let's face it: a cease-fire helps no one except Hizballah - which desperately wants a respite from Israel's ground and air attacks. If an international force is to be deployed, it must go in only after Israel finishes its job - and only with a clear mandate to keep Hizballah muzzled. (New York Post)

The U.S.-French Draft UN Resolution on Lebanon: Strengths and Weaknesses
- Dore Gold (Institute for Contemporary Affairs/Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs)

  • The U.S.-French draft resolution calls for a "full cessation of hostilities" by the warring parties. It demands the "immediate" halt by Hizballah of all attacks. Regarding Israel, there is also a demand for the "immediate" cessation of military operations; however, Israel is only expected to halt "offensive military operations." Not only is Hizballah treated more harshly, but implicitly Israel may continue to conduct "defensive military operations."
  • The draft resolution only partially addresses some of Israel's main concerns in the present conflict. Israel's abducted soldiers appear and their release is not linked to the question of Lebanese prisoners in Israel. However, the abducted soldiers are relegated to the preambular language of the draft resolution, rather than appearing in the operative language that specifies what the parties have to do.
  • Israel's concern with rocket proliferation in Lebanon is also addressed in the long-term proposals in the draft resolution through "an international embargo on the sale or supply of arms." This could justify a partial U.S. or Western naval blockade to look for contraband weapons similar to what the U.S. Navy maintained in the Persian Gulf in the 1990s against Iraq. There is no reference in the draft resolution to how remaining stocks of Hizballah missiles will be addressed.
  • The U.S.-French draft resolution envisions the adoption of a further resolution in the future, "under Chapter VII," for the deployment of a UN-mandated multi-national force. But Chapter VII is a two-edged sword. In the future, if Israel is dissatisfied with the performance of the multi-national force and feels it must conduct limited operations in Lebanese territory (from over-flight to destroying new rocket deployments), under such circumstances Israel could be charged with violating a Chapter VII resolution. Because of the severe repercussions of such a violation, the Arab bloc, with some European support, will likely call for sanctions against Israel.
  • The Shebaa Farms were captured by Israel from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War along with the rest of the Golan Heights; their future disposition, it has been assumed, is part of the Israeli-Syrian territorial dispute. Lebanon claimed that in 1951, Syria transferred the Shebaa Farms to Lebanon. However, no such agreement was ever deposited at the UN and Lebanese Army maps from 1961 and 1966 shows the Shebaa Farms to be inside Syria. Hizballah's claim to the Shebaa Farms has no basis in either UN resolutions or in past diplomatic documentation. Yet, by granting that the Shebaa Farms issue is a genuine dispute, the draft resolution rewards Hizballah by recognizing one of its main claims over the last six years.

Lebanon Demands

Fuck Lebanon. Lebanon demands? They brought this upon themselves. Where were they when resolution 1559 was passed? Where were they when a terror organization usurped their authority and overran South Lebanon and built an obstacle course of death in the South for Israeli soldiers defending their homeland?  Why didn't they fight for themselves, their freedom? The  Saniora/Lebanese goverernment knew about planned kidnapping of Israel soldiers. Why did they do nothing? Now they are whining? You reap what you sow. This is the failure of a Lebanese government that is a puppet to Syria and the Iranian foreign legion, Hezb'Allah.  Hezb'Allah  is the Lebanese government. They demand?

Lebanon demands Israeli withdrawal in UN resolution
Lebanon has officially sought changes to a French-US draft UN resolution on the Middle East conflict, calling for Israeli forces to immediately withdraw from Lebanonese territory after any halt to fighting, its UN representative said.

"Lebanon Cannot Behave Like They Are Responsible for Nothing and the Whole World Owes Them Everything"

It seems the Pentagon may send more than $10 million in spare parts to Lebanon to help pay for the country’s armed forces to put things back together sometime after the current crisis begins to settle down. Yeah that's the ticket, aid Hezb'Allah's allies in the Jihadi war  against the West. Unbelievable.

Oh and fuck the UN too. Since when did they give a shit about dead babies? Tell them to clean up Darfur, Sudan,  the Congo, North Korea, China etal before they pretend to speak of morality.

Pali Arabs Do Death Dance as Scores of Jews Die

The Israeli response to all out war being declared on its citizens is disportionate........... it's not nearly severe enough. Hezb'Allah's objective is to kill the people of Israel, to kill the Jews. Today they murdered 10 and the Pali Arabs are doing the dance of death. More here

At least 10 Israelis killed, four others seriously wounded in massive rocket attack on Kiryat Shmona area kibbutz; Nablus Palestinians celebrate lethal attack SharonHezbollah_rocket Roffe-Ofir

VIDEO - In New York a ceasefire is being discussed, but in the north the fighting continues: Ten Israelis were killed and 11 others were injured, four of them seriously, during a rocket attack Sunday on Kibbutz Kfar Giladi in the Kiryat Shmona area.

There is something terribly wrong in this world when a terrorist group of bloodthirsty animals can fire thousands of rockets into a sovereign nation murdering scores of civilians and the dialogue is about "ceasefire" and land givebacks.

Biden wants to appoint a special envoy. Yeah that'll do it Joe.

The jihad media - Crescent News Network (CNN) - is reporting from South Beirut waiting for Israel response to the massacre of Jews. They think they see smoke. This is their story on this day.

When I was at a dinner for the IDF in Israel, a young student from a musical conservatory, played this piece for the valiant, the brave and the dead.

UPDATE: Rick from the must read blog, Jewish Current Issues elucidates;

The student in the video is Lior Kaminetsky of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. He was playing the composition in front of the family of Gadi Musayev, killed on July 12, 2006 by Hizballah in Hisballah's initial strike against Israel. The moments of silence at the end of the video, before the applause begins, is the respectful silence that the tribute produced among the audience that was privileged to be there to stand with Gadi's family and the rest of Israel.

UPDATE August 7th: Palestinians Learning Lessons from Lebanon, See Missiles as Answer to Israel's Security Fence

The heavy battles between Hizballah and the Israel Defense Forces have taught West Bank gunmen new lessons - in future battles between Israel and the Palestinians, like in Lebanon, the missile will be victorious. Long- and short-range rockets have aroused great interest among the gunmen, and advanced missiles are promising to be the next hit with the Palestinian terror organizations. Public opinion sees them as the means to change the face of the conflict. The eastern Jerusalem newspaper Al-Quds published a caricature a few days ago of a missile passing through Israel's separation fence.
    One of the founders of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, Khaled Shawish, says the Palestinian organizations are trying to buy sophisticated weapons. "I am talking particularly about RPG missiles that can be widely used in Gaza. The border with Egypt is open enough to bring in missiles, and 'the resistance' produces anti-tank missiles in Gaza," he said. A Palestinian journalist from Gaza noted, "The price of ammunition has dropped because of the large supply. A Kalashnikov bullet cost NIS 40-50 before the Israeli withdrawal, and now it's only NIS 5."

Jihad Media, Literally

The more the mainstream media is exposed as a left wing jihad tool, the more they dig in their heels and invariably dig their own long overdue graves. Bad enough al-Reuters uses Pali stringers and sympathizers, it now appears that they are photoshopping their pics.

Over at LGF, Charles runs an explosive expose on al-Reuters doctoring photos from Beirut. The implications of such deceit are staggering.

OK, now things are getting weird.Beirutphotoshop_1

This Reuters photograph shows blatant evidence of manipulation. Notice the repeating patterns in the smoke; this is almost certainly caused by using the Photoshop “clone” tool to add more smoke to the image. (Hat tip: Mike.)

It’s so incredibly obvious, it reminds me of the faked CBS memos. Smoke simply does not contain repeating symmetrical patterns like this, and you can see the repetition in both plumes of smoke. There’s really no question about it.

But it’s not only the plumes of smoke that were “enhanced.” There are also cloned buildings.

Little Green Footballs has the photo evidence here

UPDATE: Reuters admits altering Beirut photo

Reuters withdraws photograph of Beirut after Air Force attack after US blogs, photographers point out 'blatant evidence of manipulation.

[al]' Reuters' head of PR says in response, 'Reuters has suspended photographer until investigations are completed into changes made to photograph' Yaakov Lappin

A Reuters photograph of smoke rising from buildings in Beirut has been withdrawn after coming under attack by American web logs. The blogs accused Reuters of distorting the photograph to include more smoke and damage.

UPDATE: Over at LGF, Charles points out;

As of this writing, the doctored photo by Adnan Hajj is still available on Yahoo News: Mideast Conflict on Yahoo! News Photos.

It's all about the jihad, stupid. RoPMA*
*Religion of peace, my ass.

UPDATE: My Pet Jawa has more proof of the blood libel that al-Reuters exacts on the moral, humane Israeli government and people;

What was just a hunch earlier has now been proven beyond a resonable doubt. Another photo by Reuters reporter Hajj has been DEFINITIVELY debunked.
What is a passed as a photo showing an Israeli bombing raid against a "village" is actually of an F-16 taking defensive measures.

Read the whole post and check out the photos. Any Atlas readers have photoshop skills? Please help uncover this malevolent treachery. This is as much an act of war -- aiding and abetting the enemy, as picking up a gun and killing one of our soldiers or an Israeli soldier or anyone fighting the great fight for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness;

The center "bomb" is also a fake. It is simply a copy of the first, only reduced in quality to make it appear "different"

Which raises a very interesting question? Were their any bombs in the original or are they all copied from another photo altogether?

Okay, so two Reuters photos from Adnan Hajj Ali have been debunked? Any more? Yes. Dan Riehl finds more evidence here

I believe we are seeing the tip of the iceberg. Here are a few other photos that appear to have been doctored. Scroll through them. If you have Photoshop skills, we could use your help.

BOSTOM: THE JIHAD TO DESTROY ISRAEL

Bostom writes me: Writing in the midst of the 1976 Islamic jihad against the Christians of Lebanon—spearheaded by the Palestinian Liberation Organization under Yasir Arafat—Bernard Lewis observed then,

We are prepared to allow religiously defined conflicts to religious eccentrics...but to admit that an entire civilization can have religion as its primary loyalty is too much...This is reflected in the present inability, political, journalistic, and scholarly alike, to recognize the importance of the factor of religion in the current affairs of the Muslim world...

If our political, journalistic, and scholarly “elites” ever arrive at this understanding, perhaps they will grasp the accompanying vocabulary of the Muslim combatants and their spokespersons, in the context of the jihad against Israel. “Resistance” means a genocidal jihad, whose “justice” amounts to the violent restoration and forcible maintenance of dhimmitude for those surviving Jews (and Christians) in a vanquished Israel.

Understanding the Jihad to Destroy Israel by Andrew Bostom (Aug. 2006)

As the conflagration in southern Lebanon rages on, open calls for an annihilationist jihad to eradicate the State of Israel are once again echoing across the Muslim world. There is no confusing the intent expressed in such brazen statements:[Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s Commander] There is a need to topple the phony Zionist regime, this cancerous growth [called] Israel, which was founded in order to plunder the Muslims' resources and wealth[Iranian President Ahmadinejad at an “emergency” meeting of the 57 Muslim member states of the Organization of the Islamic Conference in Malaysia] …the main solution is for the elimination of the Zionist regimeThese pronouncements from Iran’s Shi’ite regime and President Ahmadinejad, complemented by an independent statement from the immensely popular Sunni cleric, and “spiritual” leader of the Muslim Brotherhood Yusuf Qaradawi, make clear that this jihad transcends the sectarian Shi’ite-Sunni divide within Islam.  “The Lebanese resistance is a Jihad (holy war). It is being waged by Shiites, who are also part of the Islamic Ummah [global community]” Qaradawi maintained. He further stated, “Shiites agree with almost all the fundamental principles of Islam, and the differences [between Sunni-Shi’ite] are only in supplementary matters.”

It's Bostom, so read it all.
