Video: Delay- bill will "restore nutrition & hydration"

Jackson's Junction: Video blogging - we provide (video), you decide!

Tom Delay, along with other members of congress, just held a press conference to announce they have reached agreement on a bill that will: (1) guarantee Terri Schiavo a Federal appeal and (2) restore  nutrition and hydration to Terri throughout the process.

Greg,

Not only does your comment show a lack of sensitivity, it is also factually incorrect. The Federal Govt has never addressed the Terri Schiavo case through legislation before today. Please be fully informed on a topic before you give your opinion.

Dear Greg,

What you've (we all have) been seeing in the videos shows the problem. Why are there no videos of her from these recent days? You would think that all Mr. Schiavo would have to do is allow video cameras in her room and all would see that she is ready to be let go... But that is the problem. She is not ready to go and that is why 5-6 years ago, Mr. Schiavo and Judge Greer started forbidding cameras in her room. Plus at least 10 years ago, they started denying Terri any therapy whatsoever - they don't even turn her around enough so she doesn't get bedsores. So you see, Sir, there are lots of holes in this case, and for Terri's sake and others in her situation, we must expose all the facts and the truth before we let even spouses treat each other like this.

My soninlaw lay's in my home in a Brain injury Coma stage 3 on a good day , he has been living on 6 can's of nutrition ,daily for 7 year's , My daughter is my Hero , a Humane , compassioniate person , we fight for our Willie on a daily basis , and will continue to do so , God didn't want him yet , and if he goe's , that's the only way he'll go , we feel like taking him and running with him to protect him , Their trying to Murder Terri , This is the USA , my God , prove it , TO THE WORLD , that we don't treat human's like this , we don't treat our animal's inhumanialy , This is Murder , and the judge that ordered the removal of her tube should be on death role , for murder , I watched her husband on CNN off and on all day , made me puke ... why not a shot , why the suffering , and the holding of her hand ,as she starve's at your request .... I speak for my whole family at the gut wrenching , unspeakable , dispectiable , crime is about to occure ... Jeanne

I became involved in supporting Terri when I began to read up on the facts. Senator Tom Delay has stated it the right way. I am not an American. I am an Australian. The outcome of this case affects us because the wilful murder of Terri Schiavo will open the floodgates for further attempts to end the lives of the disabled and elderly in the same way.

A few years ago, my father had a stroke that left him brain damaged. My mother and family had a tough time looking after him because of the complications of that brain damage. Then in June 2003 he had a second and more serious stroke. The doctors at the hospital where he was initially taken tried to encourage my mother to go for the DNR. It was touch and go for my dad at that time and he was seriously ill with aspiration-pneumonia (I think I have that correct). My dad did not die immediately. He managed to cling to his life. I was able to fly down to Melbourne from Sydney to visit him and say my farewell at that point in time.

My dad lasted until 6 November 2003. When I saw him, he could not speak because he had lost the power of speech. According to the Cranford definition of PVS that would mean that my dad could have been described in that way. However, my dad knew me instantly and I talked to him, then he held me in his arms (or as best as he could). He laughed at what I was saying to him, and he was very upset when I had to say good-bye and return to Sydney.

The doctors at the hospital had also advised my mother that he would not get any better, but she was prepared to ignore their advice and she would not agree to him being DNR. My dad was moved to a nursing home where they try to rehabilitate the stroke patients. He was given some very tender care and they worked on giving him physiotherapy. Unfortunately, dad ended up with a complication from a bed sore. My dad was on a feeding tube just like Terri had been on a feeding tube. He could not feed himself at this time.

The way that Terri has been treated is so wrong and unjust.

Lies! Lies! Lies! Every qualified doctor who has examined Terri has said there is no chance for recovery. Her brain is atrophied and her cerebral cortex has been replaced by fluid. The Schindlers' so-called experts are making their dignoses from edited video. I love my wife and kids more than the world but if any of them were in this state I would do exactly what Michael is doing. I just don't know if I'd have his strength in the face of all the yapping condemnations of the ill-informed. To paraphrase his own words what kind of man is Tom Delay to strip a woman of her dignity for some partisan cause? And why didn't congress rush to the aid of the six-month-old baby in Texas when the hospital pulled the plug against her parents wishes because they couldn't pay the bill? By the way the law that let the hospital end the baby's life was signed by Gov. George Bush. I am not anti-Bush, and I believe there is great hypocracy in the pro-choice movement, but please, for the love of God, leave this man and his wife alone!
