Dean: Due Process For Bin Laden But Not DeLay
In God's gift to the Republicans own words:
"I think [DeLay's] guilty . . . of taking trips paid for by lobbyists, and of campaign-finance violations during his manipulation of the Texas election process," Dean said.
The remarks reflected no retreat from Dean's comment Saturday to Massachusetts Democrats that "I think Tom DeLay ought to go back to Houston, where he can serve his jail sentence."
But when it comes to bin Laden:
"I've resisted pronouncing a sentence before guilt is found," Dean said during the 2004 Democratic primary campaign. "I still have this old-fashioned notion that even with people like Osama, who is very likely to be found guilty, we should do our best not to, in positions of executive power, not to prejudge jury trials."
Hugs and kisses, Howie. Don't ever shut up.
This is a great point. I'd forgotten Dean said that about bin Laden. If the Democrats had nominated him for president, Bush would have carried 49 states. (I concede Vermont.)

Howie, you were a flash in the pan. A quirky entity that had now outlived its usefulness. You are now a living/walking/breathing cliché. You are the posterboy of the deranged über-Left, a class of humans that cannot stand, and cannot understand, anyone else on this planet having different opinions on how life should be lived.
The more you cry out in vain, like your other important-person-wannabe Al Gore, the only people that really hear you are a dwindling chorus of vapid neo-Socialists. The ranks of "former Democrats" are growing, seeing exactly what a few of us have seen for years: a frightening cadre of people desperately reaching backwards for Socialist and Communist ideals and philosophies, ideas that should have died off when the Berlin wall fell.
