The Phenomenon Continues

2_28_holloway_natalee_informal Amazing! It seems that once again only blonde white girls go missing!

Naming your kid Lakisha may hurt her future but it seems to insure she won't go missing. Because we know the MSM is all into diversity and wouldn't just devote airtime to missing white kids.

What's with the Caucasion hate?

I'm not conviced yet that race is the primary issue here. At the end of the day, it's still about ratings and selling newspapers. And today, a Saturday in June, Natalee Holloway is a more compelling story than Tropical Storm Arlene. It keeps eyes glued to the TV, which is good for business.

To take these missing girl stories out of the context in which they occurred and then make presumptions about how they were covered seems to me, anyway, somewhat flawed.

The media still has (after all the years) the bitter taste of Tawana Brawley in it's mouth. That kid pretty much ruined it for non-white "Damsels in Distress." I saw that case change an awful lot of attitudes!
