Frightening days ladies and gentlemen. And the subjugated world sits by and rubs it hands in glee happy in the knowledge that America and Israel may take it on the chin while they have relegated themselves to submission and a form of slavery.
Signs of a regional war engulfing the Middle East began to arise yesterday, with Israel entering its third week of war against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon and Al Qaeda’s top deputy promising reprisals.
Israeli strategic planners here say they are closely watching whether Iran will deliver on President Ahmadinejad’s promise last week to make an announcement that would neutralize Israel’s nuclear threat.
During a briefing yesterday, an Israeli analyst also said it is believed that on June 16, nearly a month before Hezbollah’s cross-border raid on Israel, Iran and Syria signed a mutual defense treaty following a meeting of their defense ministers.
The agreement, signed between Iran’s defense minister,Mustafa Najjar, and his Syrian counterpart, Hasssan Turkmani, at the time was described as a “military cooperation agreement” by the London based daily Asharq Al-Awsat, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute. [...]
The prospect that Iran would come to Syria’s defense should Israel bomb Damascus in retaliation for Hezbollah strikes came into focus this week after Iran’s ambassador in Beirut promised to counter an Israeli attack on Syria with “full power.” NY Sun

July 26 was the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest tragedies in Western diplomacy. Back in 1956, Gamal Abdul Nasser, President of Egypt, nationalized the Suez Canal. Soon thereafter, England and France convinced Israel to stage an invasion of the Sinai peninsula in order to retake the canal. Sulla Institute
Wildly informative back story to the rise of Arab terror. The historical background to Suez from the Weekly Standard;
A Man, A Plan, A Canal
What Nasser wrought when he seized Suez a half century ago.
by Arthur HermanON JULY 26, 1956, President Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt nationalized the Suez Canal, at that time the most vital international waterway in the world. The Middle East, and all of us, still live under the shadow of the fateful events his decision triggered 50 years ago. Even more than the Cold War, the Suez crisis has shaped the world we live in. And at its heart was the biggest American foreign policy blunder since the War of 1812.
The socialist Proudhon said the origin of property was theft. The same could be said of the modern Middle East. By any objective standard, Nasser's seizing of the canal was theft. Until that July, it had been administered by a private company headquartered in Paris and owned by international shareholders. Nasser had even signed an agreement recognizing the Canal Zone's autonomy two years earlier, which allowed Great Britain to pull out the last troops from its bases in Suez.
That withdrawal, of course, freed the Egyptian dictator to do what he pleased. Nasser decided to grab the canal to pay for his ill-conceived dam on the Nile at Aswan. He also reasoned that the resulting international outcry would only build up his reputation in the Arab world, and that the response from a declining British Empire, and the rest of the West, would be all talk and no action--even though Suez was vital to Britain and Europe for their oil from the Persian Gulf.
This was Nasser's one miscalculation--but in the end it proved unimportant. In 1956, memories of Hitler and Mussolini were still fresh. Appeasing demagogic dictators who broke international law had few advocates. Just three years earlier, Iran's Mossadegh had tried to nationalize Iran's oil wells. The British and the CIA had kicked him out of power for his pains.
[...] So, when the British high command informed Eden it would take six weeks to assemble enough ships, planes, and men to take back the canal and topple Nasser, Eden turned to the French for help. They in turn appealed to the Israelis. For some time the Israelis had wanted to wipe out the Palestinian guerrilla bases which had sprung up along their border with Egypt since the 1948 war, camps run by a Palestinian student-turned-Nasser flunky named Yasser Arafat. So Israel's chief of staff, the 41-year-old Moshe Dayan, drew up a plan with the help of a young paratrooper colonel named Ariel Sharon for an incursion into Gaza and Sinai in coordination with an Anglo-French landing at Suez. The Israelis assumed the West would back up bold action against hit-and-run terrorists and those who supported them.

Evil Cabal Convenes in Damascus Nasrallah, Assad, Larijani
The Axis of Islamic Jihad is gathering in their Syrian lair. hat tip Naomi Ragen
The Kuwaiti daily al-Seyassa this morning reports that Hizbullah leader Sheikh Nasrallah is due to travel to Damascus today for a secret meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani. (Larijani is also partly in charge of Iran's nuclear program.)
The purpose of the meeting, according to the Kuwaiti paper, is to discuss further tactics to extend their war on Israel, and to continue to supply Iranian arms and ammunition to Hizbullah through Syria.
Nasrallah, according to the report, will travel in an armored vehicle belonging to Syrian intelligence, dressed with "regular clothes" and without his turban. He will be escorted by a Syrian Lt. General.
Earth to IDF: Bring on those heat seeking missiles.
According to the paper, the latest speech of Nasrallah delivered on al-Manar TV was also recorded in a Syrian intelligence studio.
Want to bet these animals are not talking "peace"? My money is on August 22nd the day Iran is to give the world its answer on the overly generous nuke package. Rockets Brain is reporting on Robert Spencer's: Iran's Day of Terror?
Farid Ghadry, the president of the Reform Party of Syria, has offered a provocative explanation for this delay. He asserts that the Supreme National Security Council of Iran chose the August 22 date “for a very precise reason. August 21, 2006 (Rajab 27, 1427) is known in the Islamic calendar as the Night of the Sira’a and Miira’aj, the night Prophet Mohammed (saas) ascended to heaven from the Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on a Bourak (Half animal, half man), while a great light lit-up the night sky, and visited Heaven and Hell also Beit al-Saada and Beit al-Shaqaa (House of Happiness and House of Misery) and then descended back to Mecca.…”

Liveblogging Bolton Hearings
You don't often get an opportunity to right a terrible wrong. But the Senate has a chance to do just that when it gives the nomination of John Bolton to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations a second look today. Peter Brookes, NY Post, Full piece here.
The circus begins. John Bolton, makes brilliant opening remarks. In between opening statements ancient hippies and code pink types start screaming "'we are the terrorists," "this is not my country," "no to Bolton!" -- oy, so ridiculous.
Biden trying awfully hard to look presidential, but nothing can take away from the fact that Biden is on the same side as those tired, silly hippies.
Trying to pigeon hole Bolton into saying that we are one with the EU3
Biden: "do think sticking close to the EU3, so we are not divided, so we are not the odd man out is the objective?"
Still kissing European ass.
Paraphrasing Bolton, we are working with the EU3 [obviously], We have been working with our allies to iron out................. you know the drill.
Now Biden is trying to lay blame of Hezb'Allah on Bolton. Sheesh, does he know what a putz he sounds like?
NEXT UP: RINO Chaffee. Chaffee is very nervous. His spineless is despicable, but I kind of feel sorry for him. He is out of his league, swimming with sharks.
Talking about terrorism;
Chaffee: "Can't you go any deeper?" huh?
Wants Bolton to do a vivisection on "terrorism."
Chaffee: "This is very complicated problem."
Chaffee talking "complicated" to John Bolton? But like a good shrink talking to a mental patient, Bolton answers seriously and at length.
Bolton confirms proliferation of nuclear weapons and addressing the issues of the Middle East are the defining issues our times.
Chaffee wants to know what he and Rice have done to insure a viable CONTIGUOUS Palestinian state. Yeah, Chaffee, let's focus on giving the terrorists a state.
Bolton: Yes, a contiguous state [...] Enormously complicated by Hamas
Bolton insisting that before anything like that can happen. The countries and groups in that region must renounce terrorism and recognize Israel.
Responding to the question of China, Bolton confirms to Chaffee that yes China and North Korea are selling arms to the Middle east. Most disturbing to Bolton is the sales of ballistic missile technology. I'll say.
Bolton: That can't be right
Sardanes: that's the number'
Bolton: can't be right
Sardanes checked again,............ oh yeah. A billion
This is painful.
Sardanes now quoting the jihad tool extraordinaire,
The New York Crimes hit piece on Bolton. Quoting all anonymous crooked sources
on the dole at the UN.
Bolton reinforcing he will work with anyone " Not useful to quote anonymous sources". Many ambassadors came up to Bolton after that yellow piece of journalism saying the piece was unfortunate. Who is Sarbanes siding with? Embezzlers, rapists, corrupt officials?. Fool.
George Allen (R-Virginia) speaking now. Speaking bout the call fromAl Qaeda to all muslims to join Hezb'Allah. Allen wants to know where they are getting their weapons. Where are these thousands upon thousands of weapons coming from?
Hezbollah funded from Iran and Syria. Arms from China. Allen wants to know what is the world community doing to stop it.
Bolton" "We can't reach an agreement on the definition of terrorism. A number of govenments think some terrorism is acceptable." This has been the main impediment.
Dolt Dodd is up -- right out of the box. Against the nomination. Crying about the NSA intercept issue. Aww poor Dodd crying for Al Qaeda, must be an Osama's payroll. Going back to the years old canard that Bolton tried to fire and incompetent that worked for him.
Bolton renders Dodd speechless. bababababababa TTTTTThats all fffffolks.

Israel Doing the World's Dirtiest Work
In what was Israel's deadliest day, Hizbullah Used Civilians, Mosques in Attack on IDF
Hizbullah refused to allow civilians to leave their village and used mosques in their ambush on IDF soldiers at Bint Jbeil Wednesday. Names of the nine fallen soldiers were released. Morale is high. more
Hezb'Allah jihadis are barbarians. And while the world sits in abject judgment of Israel, tsk tsk tsking - Israel cleans up the international community's abortion. Decades of appeasement and financing of this insane Islamic Jihad movement coming home to roost.
All this polite conversation of a "multi-national peacekeeping force" (what fraking peace?) Bottom line is no one country has volunteered any troops, not one single country. Why? Because they are scared to death. Because they saw what happened to our 241 Marines back in 1982. Because if the Israelis can't cap these jihadis, who can? What could an international keystone cops force accomplish?
The savages use women, children to hide behind. The animals shoot from people's homes while the family still lives there, holding them hostage. That should be the "humanitarian crisis" the U.S. Sec'y of State Condi Rice is referring to when she says, Prevent Humanitarian Crisis in Lebanon. Nonsense. And why are the leftists, Islamists, internationalists, dictating the world dialogue? Humanitarian crisis is not the real issue of the day. The real humanitarian crisis is the thousands of indiscriminately fired katuyshas into civilian cities and towns all over Israel.
And once again Israel has thankless task of cleaning up the rot and sickness that is a pox unto the world. General Halutz is in my prayers.

KOFI'S BLOOD LIBEL EXPOSED
***UPDATED*** SCROLL FOR UPDATES***
FULL TEXT OF FALLEN SOLDIER"S LETTER
More on the Jew hating deceitful Kofi has been exposed in today's New York Sun. One of the four killed in the misfiring on the UN position wrote an email to his superior just days before complaining that Hezb'Allah was "all over us." Hezb'Allah is the target, no the UN he wrote;
An apparent discrepancy in the portrayal of events surrounding the deaths of four unarmed U.N. observers in Lebanon threatens to unravel Secretary-General Annan’s initial accusation that Israel “deliberately” targeted the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon.
A Canadian U.N. observer, one of four killed at a UNIFIL position near the southern Lebanese town of Khiyam on Tuesday, sent an e-mail to his former commander, a Canadian retired majorgeneral, Lewis MacKenzie, in which he wrote that Hezbollah fighters were “all over” the U.N. position, Mr. MacKenzie said. Hezbollah troops, not the United Nations, were Israel’s target, the deceased observer wrote.
A senior U.N. peacekeeping operation official who briefed the press yesterday,
however, said that on the day the deaths occurred, the only “known Hezbollah activity was 5 kilometers away.”The official’s briefing was conditioned on anonymity, but the undersecretary-general for peacekeeping operations, Jane Holl Lute, supplied the Security Council with similar information at an earlier briefing yesterday. “To our knowledge, unlike the vicinity of some of our other patrol bases, Hezbollah firing was not taking place within the immediate vicinity” of the base that was hit Tuesday.
Based on reporting by the U.N.’s peacekeeping chief, Jean-Marie Guéhenno, Mr. Annan alleged in Rome Tuesday that the incident was an apparent “deliberate targeting by Israeli Defense Forces of a U.N. Observer post in southern Lebanon.” Although Mr. Annan began to backtrack yesterday, his spokeswoman, Marie Okabe, said he stood by the accusation.
Mr. MacKenzie, who after retiring from the Canadian military became a politician, had a very different interpretation. “I happen to know” the nowdeceased Canadian U.N. observer, Major Paeta Hess-von Kruedener, Mr. MacKenzie told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in a radio interview yesterday. “We’ve received e-mails from him a few days ago and he was describing the fact that he was taking fire within, in one case, three meters of his position ‘for tactical necessity — not being targeted,’” Mr. MacKenzie said he wrote.
In one such e-mail, obtained by The New York Sun, Hess-von Kruedener wrote about heavy IDF artillery and aerial bombardment “within 2 meters of our position.” The Israeli shooting, he added, “has not been deliberate targeting, but has rather been due to tactical necessity.”
Kofi is a liar and a murderer. He killed those "peacekeepers" just as if he pulled the trigger. Kofi must go. He is a danger to the world community and freedom loving people everywherre.

(4) Team Sierra is currently observing both IDF/IAF and Hezbollah military clashes from our vantage point which has a commanding view of the IDF positions on the Golan mountains to our east and the IDF positions along the Blue Line to our south, as well as, most of the Hezbollah static positions in and around our patrol Base. It appears that the lion's share of fighting between the IDF and Hezbollah has taken place in our area. On the night of 16 July, at 2125 hrs, a large firefight broke out between the Hezbollah and the IDF near a village called Majidyye and lasted for one hour and 40 minutes.
(5) Based on the intensity and volatility of this current situation and the unpredictability of both sides (Hezbollah and Israel), and given the operational tempo of the Hezbollah and the IDF, we are not safe to venture out to conduct our normal patrol activities. We have now switched to Observation Post Duties and are observing any and all violations as they occur.
This is all the information of a non-tactical nature that I can provide you. I cannot give you any info on Hezbollah position, proximity or the amount of or types of sorties the IAF is currently flying. Suffice to say that the activity levels and operational tempo of both parties is currently very high and continuous, with short breaks or pauses. Please understand the nature of my job here is to be impartial and to report violations from both sides without bias. As an Unarmed Military Observer, this is my raison d'etre.

Menawhile in Israel, Day 12 of fighting: Some 1,300 Israelis hurt
Hospitals in north treat 1,293 people injured in rocket attacks since war in north began. Health Ministry launches works to fortify hospitals, ready medical teams for extended military operation
Hospitals in Israel have treated 1,293 people who were injured in rocket attacks since the fighting on the country's northern border began 12 days ago.
Since the beginning of the fighting, the Health Ministry's situation room has been collecting data on the number of injured. The vast majority of casualties were treated for shock, while 19 people are still hospitalized across the country in serious condition. Another 37 people sustained moderate wounds and 325 were lightly injured. The number of people who suffered from shock stands at 875.
Health Minister Yacov Ben Yizri briefed the government ministers Sunday on the health establishment's preparations in light of the security situation.
In the framework of the preparations, medical teams from the heart of Israel are standing by to assist the northern hospitals and six hospitals in the north - Ziv in Safed, Rambam in Haifa, Poriya in Tiberias, the Nahariya hospital and Bnei Zion in Haifa - have already fortified the oxygen tanks on their grounds in order to avoid grave damages in the event of a rocket attack.
The hospital in Safed had already sustained damages in a previous Katyusha strike. During the weekend construction teams have started fortifying windows in the northern hospitals, while efforts to reinforce the Barzilai Hospital building in Ashkelon were also launched, for fear of imminent Qassam attacks. hat tip Naomi

JEW HATER KOFI: STFU
If anybody is guilty of the deaths of those UN
peacekeepers -- it's Kofi. Sleep with dogs, die with fleas. Deliberately
targeted?
UN: Precision missiles hit UNTSO post
Annan: IAF hit "apparently deliberate;" Olmert expresses "deep regret."
Deliberately targeted? Check out the Hezb'Allah flag and the UN flag flying side by side. Photo tip David
In recent days I wrote both here and here on how the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon,
UNIFL was complicit in aiding and abetting Hezb'Allah in
Southern Lebanon.
So if Hizb'Allah was using the UNIFL as a shield is it any
surprise that "peacekeepers" got killed? I mean, get serious. Kofi
accusing Israel of deliberate murder shows what a Jew hater he really
is. Not that that's a surprise.
[...] Hizb'Allah has been known to base itself right next to UNIFL forces in the hopes that Israel would inadvertantly hit UNIFL in response. This is understandable from Hizb'Allah's cynical [Cynical? savage is more like it - Atlas] perspective, but harder to fathom in relation to UNIFL's mandate to restore peace and security.
It is often noted that UNIFL failed in its mission, but even that is too kind, to the extent that implies that its presence is benign. In reality, UNIFL has provided more security to Hizb'Allah than it has to Israel increasing the likelihood of conflict and helping to make the current confilct inevitable. Jerusalem Post International Edition (no online link - transcribed from hard copy) More here
And I wrote here as well;
Has the world the forgotten that there have been UN peace keepers on the border in Southern Lebanon, and they used to fly the Hezbollah flag on the UN flagpole? The UN also routinely permitted Hezbollah from firing short range rockets into northern Galilee.
And last week I wrote of this;
Israeli Suspicion of UN Clouds Lebanon Force Plan
An Israeli commander at the Lebanese border recalls peering through binoculars one afternoon to see UN peacekeepers sipping tea with Hizballah guerrillas. Some Israeli leaders accuse UNIFIL of providing legitimacy to Hizballah, allowing it to build up arms. Relations between Israel and the UN plummeted after information emerged that UN peacekeepers on the Lebanon border suppressed video tapes of three soldiers being abducted by Hizballah in 2000. "We know that they had line of sight and could see the actual kidnapping. They could have put roadblocks up to prevent Hizballah from escaping. But they didn't lift a finger," said Dore Gold, former Israeli ambassador to the UN.
"There was an international force in place in 2006 and it didn't prevent the current crisis from erupting," Gold said. "What that means is that providing security for southern Lebanon requires more than a knee jerk proposal to put international forces on the ground." Efraim Halevy, a former director of Israel's Mossad, noted, "Israel has a lot of experience with multinational forces. And it has not been good." (Reuters)

Good piece on this National Review here.
July 26, 2006: Israel expressed regret over the accidental bombing of the UN observation post yesterday. Meanwhile, UN officials on the ground in Lebanon admit that Hizbollah has been deliberately mixing in with civilians for protection. Most of the Lebanese casualties have been caused by this tactic, as the Israelis must either not attack Hizbollah troops and weapons, or fire and hit the Lebanese civilians adjacent to the Hizbollah target. UPDATE: UN Repairing Roads for Hezb'Allah
This might be the jawdropper of the day, as today’s report from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon shows that the United Nations is busily repairing damaged roads in Hizballah-controlled areas—roads the IAF bombed specifically to impede Hizballah movement—right in the middle of the war. (Hat tip: mich-again.)
UNIFIL is still facing serious restrictions in its freedom of movement due to the ongoing hostilities and the extensive destruction of roads and bridges throughout the area of operation. Yesterday, a UNIFIL engineering contingent from China managed to do some repairs on a key road artery between Tyre and Naqoura, and the road is now usable for traffic. However, more road destruction was reported in various areas in the south.

AXIS OF ISLAM
In Tehran yesterday, the axis of evil convened in a celebration of
bloodlust.
Pan-Islamic unity was on display yesterday at a government-sponsored think tank, where a tinny rendition of the anthem of the Islamic Republic of Iran kicked off a panel discussion grandly billed as a search for ways to counteract what it called ``Psychological Warfare Against the Islamic Resistance."
On a single podium at the Iranian president's Center for Strategic Studies sat representatives of Hezbollah, Hamas, Syria, and Iran, the foursome that the United States and Israel portray as the culprits behind rising Islamist militancy.
The panelists, joined by the Lebanese ambassador, described their groups and countries as the last ones willing to stand up to US efforts to dominate their region. More at Bostom.com (hat tip MP)

As the Senate prepares to consider anew the nomination of John Bolton as United Nations ambassador, Senators Schumer and Clinton are facing increasing pressure from pro-Israel groups to renounce another Democratic filibuster in light of the escalating war in the Middle East.
The Foreign Relations Committee is set to hold a hearing on the nomination tomorrow, and several Democrats on the panel have voiced their unswerving opposition to Mr. Bolton’s nomination. From New York’s senators, however, there has been nothing but silence. Mr. Schumer and Mrs. Clinton voted to block Mr. Bolton’s confirmation a year ago, but they have not declared their positions this time around.
Aides to both senators did not respond to repeated inquiries about the Bolton nomination over the last three days.
One Jewish leader may have an idea why. The president of the Zionist Organization of America, Morton Klein, said yesterday that “important friends” of Mr. Schumer and Mrs. Clinton have confided to him that the senators are “seriously reconsidering” their position on Mr. Bolton. Mr. Klein, in a telephone interview, would not disclose the names of the friends, saying they had not given him permission to do so.
“If they came out against him, I would be somewhat surprised,” Mr. Klein said of the New York senators. “I think there’s a reasonable chance they might support him this time around.” He added, however, that “with politics, you never know.”
Mr. Schumer and Mrs. Clinton have both made strong statements in support of Israel following attacks by Hezbollah and the ensuing war with Lebanon. NY SUN
If Schumer or Clinton come out against Bolton, it's political suicide. Even sHillary knows better. Chuckie Schmucker or Schemer? What will my favorite NY demagogue do? Tool of the far left -- what will poor Chuckie do? This should be interesting. I'm sure Schumer will be taking his cue from the left wing wallet. UPDATE: Norman writes,"I think this article sums up the goals of John Bolton's opponents quite nicely. Especially this paragraph":
So the next time you hear the tiresome canard that Ambassador Bolton is ill-suited to serve as America’s representative to the United Nations because he is so undiplomatic, remember his opponents’ true agenda. They want to neuter U.S. foreign policy in favor of their globalist agenda. They prefer meaningless compromises that bury real problems like terrorism under a mountain of empty rhetoric. They want America’s unconditional support for the United Nations, as defined by its majority of members who do not pay the bulk of its bills, no matter how dysfunctional the organization remains.
Evil cowers IN THE FACE OF GOOD.
UPDATE: Hmmmmmmmmmm Schmucker refused to show for Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki's historical address today to the joint session of Congress. All that blood and treasure the U.S .has expended, all those brave soldiers fighting for the free world and against the jihad and Schmucker refuses to appear? Apparently Schmucker didn't like Maliki's refusal to condemn Hezb'Allah. Boycotting our newest democratically elected President in the Arab/Muslim region of the world where there is none sans Israel? Why doesn't Schmucker ice out those on the left in America condemning Israel and crying disproportionate response?!?! Demogogue.
How does Chuckie reconcile such a hardline against terror and in the same breath refuse to stand with John Bolton, one of the great fighters of the worldwide jihad terror and unwaivering supporter of Israel?
G-d weighs in
Crazy little find in Ireland.
Irish archaeologists Tuesday heralded the discovery of an ancient book of psalms by a construction worker who spotted something while driving the shovel of his backhoe into a bog.
The approximately 20-page book has been dated to the years 800-1000. Trinity College manuscripts expert Bernard Meehan said it was the first discovery of an Irish early medieval document in two centuries.
"This is really a miracle find," said Pat Wallace, director of the National Museum of Ireland, which has the book stored in refrigeration and facing years of painstaking analysis before being put on public display.
The book was found open to a page describing, in Latin script, Psalm 83, in which God hears complaints of other nations' attempts to wipe out the name of Israel.
"There's two sets of odds that make this discovery really way out. First of all, it's unlikely that something this fragile could survive buried in a bog at all, and then for it to be unearthed and spotted before it was destroyed is incalculably more amazing." More at Breitbart
Here's the text of Psalm 83:
"O God, do not stand idly by, mute and inactive, O God! For thy enemies are ranting, and they who hate Thee carry their heads high. They shrewdly forge a plot against Thy people; they consult together against Thy precious ones.
They say, "Come, let us wipe them out as a nation, so that the name of Israel may no longer be remembered."
For they have conspired against a united heart; against Thee they make an alliance - the tents of Edom, the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, Gegal, Ammon, and Amelek, Philistia jointly with those who live in Tyre. Even Assyria has joined them; they have meant a strong support for the children of Lot. Selah."
The rest of the psalm is a prayer that God will humiliate and destroy them, ending with an acknowledgement that God is "the Most High over all the earth."
The director of the National Museum of Ireland is quoted as saying that the find is a "miracle." More here Hat tip Pam
A miracle, indeed.
UPDATE: from Fausta Update Via The Anchoress,
In summary, the nations where the ten ancient people groups and tribes mentioned in Psalm 83 live today, are Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and the Palestinian territories within Israel. Read also Gina Cobb's post. Hat tip tOmP
Uncanny, indeed.
CNN: CRESCENT NEWS NETWORK
CNN's senior international correspondent Nic Robertson admitted on Sunday that his anti-Israel report on civilian casualties in Lebanon was stage-managed from start to finish by Hizballah terrorists: CNN's Robertson Now Admits: Hezbollah 'Had Control' of His Anti-Israel Piece.
Not surprising, but what is particularly satisfying are the ratings during this latest attempt to destroy Israel. FOX is pounding CNN into the dirt. CNN, MSNBC, all tanking.
FOX deserves our respect and thanks. Extraordinary coverage of the war. Their reporting has been the most balanced and fair. Jennifer Griffin, Dana Lewis, Shepard Smith, David Lee Miller, Greg Palkot, Mike Tobin, Bill Hemmer ............ please write FOX and let them know how much you appeciate their responsible coverage.
News without Jew hate is surprisingly refreshing.
UPDATE: Anderson Cooper, Crescent News Network poster boy and member of the lucky sperm club Mama was Gloria Vanderbilt) weighs in with this pearl over at Kingston's blog ;
CNN Seeking Hezbollah Apologists. Any Takers?
Recently we had some decent things to say about the blog of Anderson Cooper 360. But then they slipped back to their liberal ideology and prescribe the “softer” side of terrorists.
They note:
The United States and others clearly call Hezbollah a terrorist group: The source of countless raids, bombings and attacks on Israel; the bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut in 1983, which left 241 people dead; and the architects of all those displays in which young men cover their faces, strap mock bombs to their chests, and parade before the cameras pledging to kill any and all soldiers and civilians alike who oppose their cause.
Followed up by what other, perhaps by what a more enlightened, elitist journalist, might call Hezbollah:
But some people describe another part of Hezbollah. They talk about a group that is beloved in southern Lebanon for running schools, hospitals, social services, even clearing snow in the winter for some communities that the official government of Lebanon does not serve. They say these things make Hezbollah something other than a terrorist group: A quasi-government; a nation within a nation.
Hey schmendrick, the Nazis built schools too..........so what?

BAKED ON THE PREMISES --
What to do when a killer
storm threatens? Just whistle the “all-clear”!
Paris 25 July
Nidra Poller
Katrina
was a gift from the heavens for French commentators, delighted to rub America’s
nose in the muck of its “inappropriate” reaction to a common ordinary
hurricane. Today, the same mentality is castigating Israel for its
“disproportionate” reaction to the kidnapping of two common ordinary soldiers.
How would the French government react to a major storm system? Simple! They’d
pull the plug on storm warnings and whistle “all clear.”
When a jihad faction makes war on Israel, the only decent thing to do, according to this logic, is impose a cease fire. That is the role of the international community, informed by international opinion, led by the most natural of all leaders, la France bien entendu. This latest wave of peacemongering so perverse, so depraved, so pernicious that the very heavens are exasperated. Israel is brazenly attacked, bravely fights back, and these guys are calling for a cease fire! Six years after their jihad-intifada offensive, they throw this at us, the old media tricks, the devious political ploys…we won’t let them get away with it. No. We are going to track them with laser sharp insights and zap their ceasefire to ashes.
Cease fire? How dare they even pronounce the word? It’s like walking into an operating room in the middle of a life-saving operation and ordering all personnel to leave the premises. What? The patient will bleed to death! Yes but this is a humanitarian cease fire, so it is by definition the noble way to go. Let’s zoom right in on the details behind the French call for an immediate cease fire. When did it start, what is it based on, how is it talked up, who’s line does it follow, what are its aims and purposes?

Attention: Dhimmicrats
Think before you open your piehole and stick your career in it. Let's talk about accomplishments, move politics aside and put country before party;
John Bolton’s Work at the UN
SANCTIONS
Ambassador Bolton worked closely with Security Council colleagues to create a new partnership with Interpol to strengthen sanctions against al-Qaida.
Ambassador Bolton led the adoption of sanctions by the Security Council against individuals contributing to the genocide in Darfur.
Ambassador Bolton has helped President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf promote democracy in Liberia by revising and lifting sanctions imposed during the brutal reign of Charles Taylor.
SECURITY COUNCIL ACTION
Burma
Ambassador Bolton raised the issue of Burma in the UN Security Council and negotiated for the Council to receive briefings by UN Under Secretary General Gambari on the deteriorating political and social situation in the region.
Burundi
Ambassador Bolton led Security Council efforts to draw down the peacekeeping operation in Burundi after a successful transition (ONUB is scheduled to close at the end of 2006).
Congo
Ambassador Bolton and the Security Council provided the peacekeeping mission in the Congo, MONUC, with resources and temporary police and troop increases to support Congo's first democratic elections in 40 years.
Ethiopia/Eritrea
Ambassador Bolton and the Security Council condemned restrictions placed on the UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE) by the Government of Eritrea as well as the Ethiopian refusal to demarcate the border.
Ambassador Bolton led the Security Council in an authorization to downsize the UNMEE peacekeeping force from approximately 3,300 troops to 2,300 troops in response to the situation on the ground in Ethiopia and Eritrea.
Iran
Ambassador Bolton worked with colleagues to negotiate a formal Security Council statement calling on Iran to suspend all uranium enrichment activities and to request follow up reports from the IAEA on Iranian compliance.
Liberia
Ambassador Bolton led the Security Council in the adoption of resolutions to establish a mandate to arrest Charles Taylor should he return to Liberia, to facilitate his transfer to the Special Court for Sierra Leone for prosecution, and to ensure peaceful presidential elections in Liberia.
North Korea
Ambassador Bolton, in partnership with the Japanese, led Security Council efforts to take a firm and clear stand against North Korean missile launches with the adoption of resolution 1695. This resolution is the strongest statement of condemnation the Security Council has made against North Korea in over 10 years and received unanimous support, even from China and Russia.
Sudan
Ambassador Bolton led the Security Council in authorizing the Secretary General to begin contingency planning for the transition of the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS) to a UN operation.
Ambassador Bolton negotiated with Security Council members to permit the entry of a joint African Union-UN assessment team to Darfur through a Chapter VII Security Council resolution.
Syria and Lebanon
Ambassador Bolton worked to adopt Chapter VII measures such as travel restrictions and the freezing of assets that would sanction individuals designated by the UN International Independent Commission (UNIIIC) as suspected of involvement in the killing of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. Subsequently, the Security Council established a tribunal of an international character to try those involved in the terrorist bombing.
MANAGEMENT REFORM
The End of Democracy?
Truthteller Fjordman writes an extraordinary piece in Brussels Journal. America this is our wake up call;
At the end of the Cold War, Francis Fukuyama pronounced that we had arrived at “The End of History”, and that capitalism and liberal democracy would now be the only global system left. But when I look at Europe today, I see democracies under threat because of an elaborate Eurabian bureaucracy and Islamic fanaticism. I see countries unwilling or unable to defend themselves against massive immigration/colonization.
Has democracy become too soft to function? Have we arrived at “the End of Democracy” rather than “the End of History?” What are the strengths and weaknesses of democracy? Are there other challenges to it in
the 21st century than there were in the 20th century, and if so, what are they? immigration/colonization.
What are the necessary conditions for a democratic society to work? These are massive questions. I cannot do more than scratch the surface of them here, but I’d still like to make an attempt.
In the UK, before Labour came to power, the number of people leaving Britain roughly balanced the number arriving. Then Tony Blair’s government “embarked on immigration/colonization.
a policy that will totally change the nature of many of the communities in which we live without consulting any of us.” “ [..]
Even in the USA, the most astonishing aspect of the immigration debate is that the élites “think they can override the clear and huge resistance of the American people.” As columnist Tony Blankley wrote, the Senate was prepared to “legislate into the teeth of the will of the American public.” Eight out of ten Americans wanted the borders closed to millions of illegal immigrants, yet immigration/colonization.
nothing substantial has been done. There has to be a reason for this.
In the Nordic countries – Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland and Denmark – [and also in Belgium] foreign citizens, though not illegals, are allowed to vote in local elections. As Roger Scruton points out, Western civilization depends on an idea of citizenship that is not global at all, but rooted in territorial jurisdiction and national loyalty. A nation that refuses to
differentiate between citizens and non-citizens cannot survive.
It is more than a little ironic that people calling for restrictions of immigration are denounced as “anti-democratic forces” when it is the other way around. The most fundamental democratic right of all must be to decide who should be allowed to move into your home. Freedom of speech and immigration control should not be outsourced to faceless bureaucrats in Brussels or the UN. The people should decide who should be allowed to settle in their country.
UN bureaucrats from Islamic countries are influencing how we should manage our immigration policies, even our freedom of speech. This comes on top of the maze of non-governmental organizations and self-appointed human rights groups at home and abroad, always interfering in anything we do to maintain our own borders. Put together, this means that Westerners are no longer allowed to decide who should settle in their countries.
Muslim immigrants want to first infiltrate established political parties, to ensure VIP treatment of Muslims and to keep the floodgates open to new Muslims arriving, and later to establish parties of their own. So far, this strategy has shown some success. They have also been rather successful at spreading terror in the West and instilling “fear into the hearts of the enemies of Allah,” just as the Koran commands. As Ibn Warraq, Ali Sina and other former Muslims have warned against, there is more evidence of an Islamization of democracy in the West than of any spread of democracy in the Islamic world.
I have warned against the development of a pragmatic alliance between Western Leftists and Muslims. Third World immigrants in general, and Muslims in particular, vote overwhelmingly for Leftist parties. This means that by simply opening the gates for massive immigration, Socialists can be certain of a net gain in future elections. This is a critical flaw in our societies, one that could destroy the entire democratic system unless fixed.
[...]
How could a few, selected people decide in back rooms to launch a huge project of the transformation of an entire continent, without being stopped or even have this Project acknowledged in public? Is democracy just a sham, an act where the general public is allowed to make minor decisions while powerful people move behind the scenes to make the most important decisions? Or is it the very set-up of such massive, transnational organizations such as the EU that moves power away from the people and into back rooms and the corridors of power? Is the creation of Eurabia an indication of democracy’s flaws, or an argument in favor of revitalizing it?
What happened to the ideal of investigative journalism, being of the side of the people and exposing abuse of power? There are people in the media who are criticizing the EU. Ironically, many of them are Socialists who think there is “too much capitalism” in the inner market. Leftists will, however, never criticize the worst aspects of it, the promotion of Multiculturalism, Muslim immigration and demonization of Israel and the United States, since these things fit their own, ideological agenda. European media are brimming with anti-Israeli and anti-American articles, yet hardly any of the mainstream journalists are writing about Eurabia or even mentioning the term. What happened to the free press? Was it merely an illusion, or did it get lost somewhere?
There is so much more. You must read it all.
We need a slogan: “Political Correctness is mental AIDS. Wear an intellectual condom. Use the blogosphere.”
Schmucker or Schemer? Poor Chuckie
Can you spell political suicide? The American people adore Bolton. They know righteous when they see it.
What will my favorite NY demagogue do? Tool of the far left -- what will poor Chuckie do? Members of the suicidal left have already promised a "bruising fight" over the upcoming Bolton nomination (!) - incredible right? Could anything be more clear? Read this NY Sun editorial;
The Senate this week holds a hearing on whether to confirm Ambassador Bolton to his post as America's permanent representative at the United Nations. Mr. Bolton has been at the post for nearly a year, and the man we have our eye on is Senator Schumer. This time around the senators have the advantage of seeing Mr. Bolton's record. Those who oppose him now have the burden of explaining exactly what in that record they find so objectionable. Is it the Security Council resolution he engineered to impose targeted sanctions on North Korea? The resolution is widely viewed as a blueprint for upcoming action on Iran both in its substance and in the fact that Mr. Bolton was willing and able to compromise away some provisions to win Chinese and Russian support.
Is it his limited success in implementing management reforms such as a new whistleblower protection program? Is it his unwillingness to sign off on creation of a farcical Human Rights Council that at birth was already more discredited than its predecessor, the Commission on Human Rights? Or that during his month-long stint as president of the Security Council he enforced work ethics like making everyone show up on time for meetings? Or maybe it's his unwavering support for Israel, especially during the current crisis?
Mr. Schumer's opposition to Mr. Bolton the first time around puzzled us.
[...] Mr. Schumer can turn lemons into lemonade, however, by taking the lead in pressing the minority leader, Senator Reid, to drop organized opposition to the nomination.
This should be interesting. I'm sure Schumer will be taking his cue from the left wing wallet. Those purse strings have infected every critical policy position of the Democratic party and has reduced this country to a one party government no matter how desperately we prop them up and attempt to take their arguments seriously. More's the pity.
Kofi's Dirty Secret
We have to work with the Lebanese government to extend its authority over southern Lebanon.... The Lebanese government has indicated to me that already they've put in a thousand troops, and others will follow as the UN also moves down, and we will reinforce the UN troops on the ground....
Let me say that Hizb'A'llah .... is a player in the South of Lebanon... I did tell Mr. Nasrallah that Hizb'Allah exercised restraint, responsiblity, and dicipline after the withdrawal, and that we would want to see that continue, and I'm sure from the indications that he gave me that he intends to do it.--UN Secretary General Kofi Enema with Prime Minister Barak, June 21, 2000
A UN peacekeeping force is the very worst idea. Hizb'Allah's 12,000 rockets were amassed right under the nose of UNIFL (the UN's 28 year 'interim' force.)
In reality, UNIFL has proviuded more security to Hizb'Allah than it has to Israel increasing the likelihood of conflict and helping to make the current confilct inevitable. Jerusalem Post International Edition (no online link - transcribed from hard copy)
In other words, the UN is part of the damn problem. Keep those low lives outta there. Although this latest statement from what must have been a lobotomized Egeland (I vlogged dhimmi Egeland on CNN here) was a good development;
UN Humanitarian Chief Accuses Hizballah of Causing the Deaths of Hundreds in Lebanon
UN humanitarian chief Jan Egeland accused Hizballah on Monday of causing the deaths of hundreds of Lebanese civilians during the past two weeks of cross-border violence with Israel. "Hizballah must stop this cowardly blending... among women and children," he said. "I heard they were proud because they lost very few fighters and that it was the civilians bearing the brunt of this. I don't think anyone should be proud of having many more children and women dead than armed men.
Israel's death toll stands at 36, with 17 people killed by Hizballah rockets and 19 soldiers killed in the fighting. (AP/Fox News)

Jihad Media Hides Evil Savagery
You rarely (if ever) read about Islamic Iran's peculiar appetite for public
hangings which I try to
chronicle from time to time here, here, here and here for example. Their record as the greatest violators of
human rights (they beat China?), is hardly spoken of. When Iran installs the torturer and murderer of Canadian journalist Zahra Kazemi
on the UN Human Rights council, little is made of it in the Jihad media. Nor do
you hear the unimaginable acts of barbarity perpetrated on the Christians in
Lebanon, painfully described here by
Brigitte Gabriel. The Jihad media is the horrible accomplice in all this evil by
their silence and their cover.
Woe to those that call evil good and good evil.

Execution of a Teenage Girl
27 Jul, 9:00 pm - 9:50 pm 50minsOn August 15th, 2004 a 16-year-old girl was hanged in a public square in Neka, Iran, a small industrial town by the Caspian Sea. Her death sentence was for crimes against chastity. Her name was Atefah Sahaaleh. The only evidence against Atefah was her own forced confession.
Atefah railed against her judge in court for its unfairness, but this was her undoing. Judge Haji Rezai, who was also the local mullah, prosecutor and head of the city administration, personally obtained permission from Iran's Supreme Court to execute her, and put the noose around her neck himself before she was hoisted on a crane jib arm to her death.
Using undercover footage, eyewitness accounts and drama recontruction, this film tells an unforgettable story of the life and tragic death of an ordinary teenage girl under Iran's mullahs. This programme contains some scenes which some viewers may find upsetting. [S]
Don't know Atefeh's story? Read Siamack Baniameri's account here. Pim's Ghost wrote me;
Hanged by an insane judge? Literally, as in he was the one who put the noose on her neck and gave the signal for the crane to hoist her up? Left her hanging for 45 minutes "as an example"? Man , if you haven't put anything up about her yet do it. She ripped off her headscarf in court (it was her "sharp tongue" and "acts inconsistent with chastity" that got her death sentence, many say it was her rebuff of the judge's advances on her that landed her in court) and gave a fiery speech about how it was the men who forced women into these positions that should be punished, not the women who have no choice. If ever a real FEMINIST HERO, she's the one, and at only 16. But you won't hear about her from the left of course. Her lover got 100 lashes, and according to some reports he was an army guy forced on her by her brothers. Her mother died when she was young, Dad was a drug addict.

The Ceasefire Deception is a Fraud
According to Aaron Klein over at Joe Farah's G2 (PAID ONLY) Syria is being offered a generous incentives package act for an eventual cease-fire between Israel and Lebanon and support internal Lebanese talks aimed at disarming Hezbollah. Ugh.
The word ceasefire is being bandied about as a solution the current Israeli/Islamic war. Once again the Western media ignores the meaning of a ceasefire or hudna.
"What is being touted as a 'cease-fire' is something called a 'hudna.' A hudna [also known as a hudibiyya or khudaibiya] is a tactical cease-fire that allows the Arabs to rebuild their terrorist infrastructure in order to be more effective when the "cease-fire" is called off." -- "Cease-fire?" by Shira A. Drissman More here
Would a hudna mean a step to that dirtiest of a deceptions, peace? An advance toward a nonviolent future? NO, emphatically no. The answer lies in the historical meaning of the Muslim expression,
Hudna has a distinct meaning to Islamic fundamentalists, well-versed in their history: The prophet Mohammad struck a legendary, ten-year hudna with the Quraysh tribe that controlled Mecca in the seventh century. Over the following two years, Mohammad rearmed and took advantage of a minor Quraysh infraction to break the hudna and launch the full conquest of Mecca, the holiest city in Islam. When Yassir Arafat infamously invoked Mohammad's hudna in 1994 to describe his own Oslo commitments "on the road to Jerusalem," the implication was clear. As Mideast expert Daniel Pipes explained, Arafat was asserting to his Islamic brethren that he will, "when his circumstances change for the better, take advantage of some technicality to tear up existing accords and launch a military assault on Israel." Indeed, this is precisely what occurred in Sept. 2000 when Arafat & Co. launched a terror assault upon Israeli citizens. More here at Honest Reporting
Been there, done that. The enemy must be beaten.
Why Israel's Reaction is Right
By Matthias Küntzel, Der Spiegel
The natural reaction to the current violence in the Middle East is one of horror. It's time for a cease-fire, right? Not necessarily. Pacifism would only help the radicals.
When it comes to Israel, public opinion in Europe walks a fine line. Israel's overreaction and use of overwhelming force, say most, is to be condemned and criticized. But in the same breath, Hezbollah's provocation is likewise reviled and rejected as the militant group's unceasing attacks on Israeli civilians are cited. Both sides are judged using the same criteria and both sides come out stained with some blame for the current conflagration.
[...]I disagree -- and have four reasons for doing so.
[...]Islamism has attacked Israel from both the south and the north and Israel has no choice but to react. But there is more to it than that. Israel's military operation is important for the entire Western world. Until 2005, Islamism was able to successfully mislead the West into thinking that the "occupation" of Gaza and southern Lebanon was the cause of the terror attacks carried out against Israel. Now we know better: Islamism isn't out to change Israeli policy in the region, Islamism is out to completely eradicate the country of Israel. The same strategy is being used on a larger scale: The Middle East conflict is not the cause of Tehran's conflict with Western secularism. It is merely a convenient alibi.
[...]Hezbollah, on the other hand, is marching to a different drummer. Their motto is: "You love life, we love death." There is nothing, gushes Hezbollah's patron Ahmadinejad, "more beautiful, holier or more eternal than the death of a martyr." Thus, Hezbollah is not only happy to kill as many Jews as possible, it is not bothered by the deaths of Shiite Muslims as well and has thus strategically based many of their rockets directly in the middle of Shiite residential districts.
Third, there is no alternative to Israel's current military operation.
Will Hezbollah ever willingly give up their weapons? Not a chance!
The Jihad against Israel is the foundation of the militant group's very existence. For Hezbollah members, the destruction of Israel is not only non-negotiable, it is a religious duty. Hezbollah only understands the language of violence and Israel's military is the only force that is in a position to effectively confront Hezbollah. A United Nations force would never be able to achieve what Israel could. In 1983, two suicide attacks carried out by Hezbollah were enough to force the US and France from the region. A UN force, which wouldn't be nearly as strong, would have no chance. Only if Israel were able to weaken the terrorist group in the long term would the stationing of a UN force even become an option.

George Washington Recoils in Grave

Syria’s UN ambassador: Hezbollah fights like George Washington
Hope someone can help me find a video of this. Because you’ve got to see the face on CNN’s Miles O’brien when Bashar Ja’afari said it. From CNN today:
M. O’BRIEN: The Syrians do not have sway with Hezbollah?
JA’AFARI: Hezbollah is a national resistance movement fighting for its — for the sovereignty of Lebanon, for getting back the occupied Lebanese territories, for getting back 10,000 Arab prisoners in the Israeli jails. These people are fighting the same way George Washington did it 200 years ago.
M. O’BRIEN: George Washington? You’re equating this to George Washington?
JA’AFARI: Absolutely.
Oy vey.
sKerry gets the Bum's RUSH
There is an amusing kerfuffle on the political sidelines as John Skerry is clucking about Rush Limbaugh. John sKerry "thou protests too much." His fwench nose is out of joint because Rush, truthteller extraordinaire, pointed out the simple fact that the most frequent guest in the Clinton White House, besides Monica Lewinsky and the campaign donors in the Lincoln bedroom, was Yasser Arafat. Rush (and Elie Weisel) have called President Bush the best friend Israel ever had in the White House. D'oh.
I have gone farther, and called into question the ability of the Jews to survive because of their left leaning
belief system. The left's latest in-your-face rebuke of the upcoming Bolton confirmation and calls for a ceasefire are a
Zidane to Jews everywhere. This is an event horizon for
leftwing Jews. I have frequently called Jews to task for tacit support of a
party that no longer supports the Jewish state (or
America) as Charles has so adroitly pointed out here at Little Green Footballs -- here, and here and here (there are 10 KOS Updates at LGF), yeah it's that
bad on the left. So bad in fact, that the Jews on the left are blaming Karl Rove here. Seriously, they are blaming Rove.
Arafat all but endorsed Kerry in the 2004 presidential election.
Arafat deputy and chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat told WND in an exclusive interview that while "we do not involve ourselves in internal American politics," at the same time "our region has been sliding deeper and deeper into chaos because of certain policies over the past few years, and this needs to change."
While he would not directly endorse Kerry, it was clear Erekat was implying the PA wants a change in White House leadership: "If things continue the way they are, if certain policies toward our region are maintained in the years to come, there is going to be a lot of violence on both sides."
A prominent Arafat aide who asked that his name be withheld spoke to WorldNetDaily from Arafat's battered Ramallah compound.
The president [Arafat] is frustrated with Bush's policies," he said. "The president [Arafat] thinks Kerry will be much better for the Palestinian cause and for the establishment of a Palestinian state."
Kerry coveted the Jewish vote during his race, but also made a point of going after the Arab-American vote – telling each side what they wanted to hear.
In October 2003, he told the Arab American Institute in Michigan: "I know how disheartened Palestinians are by the Israeli government's decision to
build the barrier off of the Green Line – cutting deep into Palestinian areas. We don't need another barrier to peace. Provocative and counterproductive measures only harm Israelis' security over the long term, increase the hardships to the Palestinian people, and make the process of negotiating an eventual settlement that much harder."
But a week before the New York state primary, he told a Jewish group: "Israel's security fence is a legitimate act of self defense. No nation can stand by while its children are blown up at pizza parlors and on buses. While President Bush is rightly discussing with Israel the exact route of the fence to minimize the hardship it causes innocent Palestinians, Israel has a right and a duty to defend its citizens. The fence only exists in response to the wave of terror attacks against Israel." WND
The terrorists, Arafat, the French, the Germans, those opposing us at the UN, and radical Islamist fascists the world over were all routing for Kerry. The Jews loyalty to the Democratic party might be like religious fervor or a drug, but this one just might kill the organism.
The left exchanges "flipflopping" with "intellectual growth." Intellectual giants (which BTW Kerry certainly is not) are often paralyzed into inaction and the spinally challenged Kerry and his ilk are no one to trust with the current World War.

The Washington Times has a telling piece about all of "those people clamoring by the thousands for international rescue";
Who are these people now clamoring by the thousands for international rescue? Press reports label many of them "dual nationals." Some, despite their British, Swiss, American or French passports, make Lebanon their home. I was quite startled to hear, in an online audio report posted by the Daily Telegraph, that British passport-holders evacuated to Cyprus were undergoing "Home Office screening" to determine whether they "might constitute a threat." The report reasoned that this made sense "because obviously we're talking about a large number of people who have lived in the Middle East most of their lives."
This presents a bizarre spectacle: Britain's navy re-patriating what you might call extreme expatriates who potentially pose a "threat" to Britain as a partner in the so-called war on terror. This makes the following headline from the Guardian all the more inapt: "Britain's biggest sea evacuation since Dunkirk." As I recall, none of the 300,000 Dunkirk evacuees required a security screening before returning home.
In this wide-open question of loyalties we may see the expanding emptiness of the modern nation-state, where basic identification with the nation itself is no longer at the core of citizenship. And that includes the United States, where, for example, a good stretch of Main Street follows the Israeli war on Hezbollah via Al Jazeera -- at least Main Street in Dearborn, Mich., which writer Debbie Schlussel has described as "the heart of Islamic America, and especially Shia Islam America."
As the New York Times reported from Dearborn, "For miles along West Warren -- in hair salons, restaurants and meat markets -- shopkeepers and their relatively few customers stared at televisions tuned in to Al Jazeera." hat tip Sterverino
This piece must be read in its entirety.
Debbie Schussel has a killer piece on Hezbollah operating here in America here;
Why do the FBI, ICE, and the Justice Department continue to allow an obvious Hezbollah charity to continue to operate on our shores?
In May, I wrote--twice! (here and here)--about Hezbollah financier Talal Chahine and his contributions to Hezbollah front charity Al Mabarrat Association. I also wrote about its Dearborn, Michigan affiliate, Al Mabarat Charitable Organization. I had all the details and have reposted them below. (Yesterday, I went to an Al Mabarrat related event, yesterday, and will post about that, later.)
and make sure you read this;
Hezbollah U.S.A.: How a U.S. Attorney, the FBI, ICE & a Congressman Helped a Terror Group
[...] But in the Detroit area--the heart of Islamic America--it's a different story. Hezbollah supporters connected to Iran are feted by top federal officials.
Take Imam Mohammed Ali Elahi, head of the shi'ite Islamic House of Wisdom--one of the largest mosques in North America. He was the spiritual leader of Ayatollah Khomeini's Navy in Iran. Despite that, Elahi--who came here in the 1990s on a visitor visa to speak to a mosque in San Francisco--is now a U.S. citizen. Elahi's ties to Iran are so strong that his former mosque, the Islamic Center of America, fired him--even though that mosque also backs Hezbollah.
UPDATE: There is more excellent intel at the Counter Terrorism blog;
Further, although Hezbollah has not utilized charitable front organizations in the U.S. to the extent that its comrade-in-arms Hamas has, there is convincing evidence that a Hezbollah-linked charity, with direct ties to the group’s spiritual leader in Lebanon, is currently operating in Dearborn, Michigan.
Founded in 1991, the Al-Mabarrat Charitable Organization-USA Inc. has changed its name repeatedly over the last fifteen years, discarding the names “Cedar Organization, Inc.”, “Cedar Charitable Organization, Inc.” and “Cedar Social Services of America, Inc.” On its website, http://www.mabarrat.org/, which is no longer active, Al-Mabarrat claimed that its purpose “is to promote the cause of…orphans by providing sponsorship that will go toward schooling, health, and general.” While acknowledging that it proffers that support by working in conjunction with the Al-Mabarrat Association in Lebanon (whose logo it shares), the website conveniently omits the fact that Al-Mabarrat-Lebanon is run by Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah.
Fadlallah, labeled Hezbollah’s “chief ‘spiritual leader’” by the Department of Justice, has been designated a Specially Designated Terrorist by the U.S. Treasury Department, thus criminalizing financial transactions with him. The U.S. government has further alleged that “Fadlallah issued the fatwa authorizing” the 1983 Hezbollah bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks that killed 241 Americans. Demonstrating its awareness of Al-Mabarrat-Lebanon’s terrorist agenda, the U.S. government banned Lebanese Finance Minister Fuad Siniora (currently the Lebanese Prime Minister) from entering the United States in 2003 because of a donation he had made to the organization in 2000
Despite Al-Mabarrat-USA’s direct link to a Fadlallah-controlled organization, to date, the U.S. branch continues to operate unfettered. In fact, the organization appears to have gained a level of credibility in the U.S. as the Detroit Free Press reported earlier this month that “many Muslims in the region have donated to Al-Mabarrat.”

Bush Routes Hizb'Allah to Dustbin of History
Bush: Confront Hizballah and the Nations that Support It
President Bush said Saturday: "In 2004, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 1559, which recognizes the sovereignty of Lebanon, calls for all foreign forces to withdraw from Lebanon, and calls for the disbanding and disarmament of all militias. Hizballah defied the world's just demands by maintaining armed units in the southern region of Lebanon and attacking Israel in defiance of the democratically elected Lebanese government."
"I've directed Secretary of State Rice to travel to the Middle East.... Secretary Rice will make it clear that resolving the crisis demands confronting the terrorist group that launched the attacks and the nations that support it. For many years, Syria has been a primary sponsor of Hizballah and it has helped provide Hizballah with shipments of Iranian-made weapons. Iran's regime has also repeatedly defied the international community with its ambition for nuclear weapons and aid to terrorist groups." (White House)
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE WORLD
Over at the Free
Republic, Israel answers the world, posted by COUNTrecount. Take heed. (hat tip Dave)
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE WORLD
An Israeli's reply to the world (UN) can be summed up in two words and they aren't Happy Birthday. Dear World,I understand that you are upset by us, here in Israel.
Indeed, it appears that you are quite upset, even angry. (Outraged?)
Indeed, every few years you seem to become upset by us. Today, it is the "brutal repression of the Palestinians"; yesterday it was Lebanon; before that it was the bombing of the nuclear reactor in Baghdad and the Yom Kippur War and the Sinai campaign. It appears that Jews who triumph and who, therefore, live, upset you most extraordinarily.
Of course, dear world, long before there was an Israel, we - the Jewish people - upset you.
We upset a German people who elected Hitler and upset an Austrian people who cheered his entry into Vienna and we upset a whole slew of Slavic nations - Poles, Slovaks, Lithuanians, Ukrainians, Russians, Hungarians and Romanians. And we go back a long, long way in the history of world upset.
We upset the Cossacks of Chmielnicki who massacred tens of thousands of us in 1648-49; we upset the Crusaders who, on their way to liberate the Holy Land, were so upset at Jews that they slaughtered untold numbers of us.
For centuries, we upset a Roman Catholic Church that did its best to define our relationship through inquisitions, and we upset the arch-enemy of the church, Martin Luther, who, in his call to burn the synagogues and the Jews within them, showed an admirable Christian ecumenical spirit.
And it is because we became so upset over upsetting you, dear world, that we decided to leave you - in a manner of speaking - and establish a Jewish state. The reasoning was that living in close contact with you, as resident-strangers in the various countries that comprise you, we upset you, irritate you and disturb you. What better notion, then, than to leave you (and thus love you)- and have you love us and so, we decided to come home - home to the same land we were driven out 1,900 years earlier by a Roman world that, apparently, we also upset.
Alas, dear world, it appears that you are hard to please.
Having left you and your pogroms and inquisitions and crusades and holocausts, having taken our leave of the general world to live alone in our own little state, we continue to upset you. You are upset that we repress the poor Palestinians. You are deeply angered over the fact that we do not give up the lands of 1967, which are clearly the obstacle to peace in the Middle East
Moscow is upset and Washington is upset. The "radical" Arabs are upset and the gentle Egyptian moderates are upset.
Well, dear world, consider the reaction of a normal Jew from Israel.
In 1920 and 1921 and 1929, there were no territories of 1967 to impede peace between Jews and Arabs. Indeed, there was no Jewish State to upset anybody Nevertheless, the same oppressed and repressed Palestinians slaughtered tens of Jews in Jerusalem, Jaffa, Safed and Hebron. Indeed, 67 Jews were slaughtered one day in Hebron in 1929.
Dear world, why did the Arabs - the Palestinians - massacre 67 Jews in one day in 1929? Could it have been their anger over Israeli aggression in 1967? And why were 510 Jewish men, women and children slaughtered in Arab riots between 1936-39? Was it because Arabs were upset over 1967?
And when you, dear world, proposed a UN Partition Plan in 1947 that would have created a "Palestinian State" alongside a tiny Israel and the Arabs cried "no" and went to war and killed 6,000 Jews - was that "upset" caused by the aggression of 1967? And, by the way, dear world, why did we not hear your cry of "upset" then?
The poor Palestinians who today kill Jews with explosives and firebombs and stones are part of the same people who ? when they had all the territories they now demand be given to them for their state -attempted to drive the Jewish state into the sea. The same twisted faces, the same hate, the same cry of "itbach-al-yahud" (Massacre the Jew!) that we hear and see today, were seen and heard then. The same people, the same dream - destroy Israel. What they failed to do yesterday, they dream of today, but we should not "repress" them.
Dear world, you stood by during the holocaust and you stood by in 1948 as seven states launched a war that the Arab League proudly compared to the Mongol massacres.
You stood by in 1967 as Nasser, wildly cheered by wild mobs in every Arab capital in the world, vowed to drive the Jews into the sea. And you would stand by tomorrow if Israel were facing extinction. And since we know that the Arabs-Palestinians dream daily of that extinction, we will do everything possible to remain alive in our own land. If that bothers you, dear world, well ? think of how many times in the past you bothered us.
In any event, dear world, if you are bothered by us, here is one Jew in Israel who could not care less and, frankly doesn't give a damn....

We are at war. We must fight to win.
No other description of the current state of the Western world can accommodate all pertinent concrete facts and integrate them into a coherent whole. Then how can we explain the particular form of denial that flourishes in our nations, intensifying in rhythm with the worldwide conflict it refuses to recognize? A telling example of this sublime irresponsibility is the recent publication in the Washington Post of an op-ed by Ismail Haniyeh, identified innocently as the Palestinian PM, in which the author compares Hamas to the patriots who fought for American independence.
It happens that Haniyeh’s apology for jihad terrorism in sheep’s clothing appeared on July 11th, just as Bombay was hit by multiple train attacks that killed over 190 civilians in an operation tragically similar to those perpetrated in Madrid and London…and coming soon to your local train station. Haniyeh’s sinister taqqiya was published on the eve of an unprovoked Hizbullah attack on Israel’s northern border. While rockets fired from Lebanon and Gaza were wreaking havoc on civilian targets, Haniyeh was given prime space to denounce an Israeli “aggression under false pretenses.” According to the Hamas PM the June 25th Palestinian cross-border attack was in fact an Israeli ploy: “The ‘kidnapped’ Israeli Cpl. Gilad Shalit is only a pretext for a job scheduled months ago.” Whereas the civilian casualties falsely attributed to Israel are proof of inhumanity: “Was Israel defending itself when it killed eight family members on a Gaza beach last month or three members of the Hajjaj family on Saturday, among them 6-year-old Rawan?” We can easily imagine what motivates a Hamas chief to twist the facts. But what motivates Washington Post editors? Why would they grant implicit legitimacy to dishonest arguments that justify unprovoked aggression against Israel, formulated by a leader of an organization dedicated to the extermination of Jews?
We can call the editors all kinds of names: Leftwing traitors, deluded pacifists, jihad fellow travelers, pro-Palestinian fashion victims, whores wriggling for Arab money. But it won’t satisfy the intellectual--and strategic—need to understand what motivates this inexcusable abuse of press freedom. We have to understand why seemingly rational journalists could in all sincerity commit an unforgivable sin against the very foundations of our nation.
DOLT PROMISES "BRUISING FIGHT" OVER BOLTON
Dodd the dolt has Presidential aspirations? I predict he doesn't get elected pit bull catcher. Schmuck.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut on Sunday promised a bruising fight in the U.S. Senate against confirming John Bolton to be the country's ambassador to the United Nations.
President George W. Bush bypassed the Senate and installed Bolton into the position last year when lawmakers were on recess.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee scheduled a confirmation hearing on Bolton for Thursday after Ohio Republican Sen. George Voinovich who previously opposed the nomination, expressed support for Bolton.
"This is going to be a bruising fight," Dodd said on CNN's "Late Edition" program. "I'm sorry the administration wants to go forward with this."
What planet is this dhimmi living on? Trow da bum out!
In publicly opposing Mr. Bolton, Mr. Dodd joined Senator Biden of Delaware, the ranking Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, who last week said Mr. Bolton’s performance at the United Nations “confirms my conviction that he is the wrong person for the job.” NY SUN

Iranian Soldiers Dead in Lebanon
Yeah ok, keep telling us Iran is not behind this war started by their proxy Hizb'Allah. Spit in my face and tell me its raining. So what do we do the Iranian dead soldiers that don't exist?
Iran soldiers killed in Lebanon transferred to Tehran via Syria WND
JERUSALEM – The bodies of Iranian Revolutionary Guard soldiers who were killed by the Israeli army in Lebanon have been transported to Syria and flown to Tehran, senior Lebanese political sources told WorldNetDaily.
Israeli and Egyptian security officials confirmed the news, which follows a report that first appeared in The New York Sun, that Iranian forces posted to southern Lebanon have been aiding Hizb'Allah terrorists in their attacks against Israel, including helping to fire rockets into Israeli population centers. More in today's NY Sun
Israel has long maintained that Iranian Revolutionary Guard units have traveled regularly to south Lebanon to help train local Hezbollah fighters in terrorist tactics and to fortify Hezbollah positions along Israel’s northern border.
At times, Revolutionary Guard soldiers have been seen operating openly at Hizb'Allah outposts in plain view from the Israeli side, military officials say. Earlier, an Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman,Mark Regev, said Israel has information that Hezbollah was trying to transfer the two soldiers it kidnapped to Iran.
YAAKOV LAPPIN: IRAN'S ATTACK ON ISRAEL HAS BEGUN
UPDATE July 24th 5pm: As these Iranian soldiers are being flown back to Iran the BBC (Bring Bout the Calipahte) weighs in with this pearl of wisdom;
What's most consistent about the BBC's reporting is they never let the facts get in the way of the Jew hating, anti-America hating reporting.
Why Can't Israel Talk This Way?
Wild the Islamonazis continually call for the Judenrein, Israel counter
responses are always rational, controlled and reasonable.
Step back for one
moment and consider the interantional repercussions if Israel spoke this
way.
"Zionists have launched their own destruction by attacking Lebanon," Ahmadinejad added, while accusing Britain and the United States of being "accomplices in this regime's crimes".
Iran's president declared Sunday that Israel had "pushed the button of its own destruction"
"We are not fighting so that you will offer us something. We are fighting to eliminate you."
Iran’s Ahmadinejad tells Israel to “pack up’ and leave
“We have announced that wherever America does something evil, the first place that we target will be Israel,” Revolutionary Guards Rear Admiral Mohammad-Ebrahim Dehqani was quoted as saying by Iran’s student news agency ISNA Story here.
Ahmadinejad renewed his criticism of Israel, calling it a "fake regime" that cannot continue to exist.
"We say that this fake regime (Israel) cannot not logically continue to live," Ahmadinejad said. Story here.
Last Monday, just before he announced that Iran had gatecrashed "the nuclear club", President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad disappeared for several hours. He was having a khalvat (tête-à-tête) with the Hidden Imam, the 12th and last of the imams of Shiism who went into "grand occultation" in 941.

UPDATE: Eli pojnts out two salient points;
1. Several years ago, after the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, a similar kidnapping of soldiers by hizbollah took place.the terrorists used the cover of the UN to commit this deed. they (UN "peace-keepers") even had video of the event which they refused to turn over to Israel in order to help them determine what happened. Why doesn't the media make any mention of this event?
Check out this link
2. At the end of WW2, Harry Truman rationalized dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima by saying something to the effect that "either one million Japanese civilians or one million American soldiers would have to die, and he would rather have one million Japanese die than one million American boys die".
