Islamic Lies and the Dhimmis that tell them

One of the great services the blogosphere performs is debunking mainstream media revisionist history, keeping them honest as it were.  Tigerhawk has a dissection  here on an article in the Independent on "islamic inventiveness". He takes it down fact by fact,distortion by distortion, omission by omission;

article yesterday that tells us "How Islamic inventors changed the world." It is publicity for an exhibition called "1001 Inventions: Discover the Muslim Heritage in Our World" that is beginning a tour of the United Kingdom, starting at the Science Museum in Manchester. Website here.

Of the twenty putative inventions that "changed the world," all but one occurred during theShampoo Middle Ages, from roughly the 9th to the 11th centuries (Western calendar). The only "invention" that is even arguably modern is "shampoo,"

The Independent's story is an interesting tour of the history of medieval Muslim science. We learn that Muslims invented the bank check ("In the 9th century, a Muslim businessman could cash a cheque in China drawn on his bank in Baghdad"), the windmill, the fountain pen, and the brewing of coffee. On closer reading, however, The Independent's coverage is damnation by faint praise.;
Oriana Fallaci offers spicier fare, but truer:

Islam has always persecuted and silenced its intelligent men. I remind you of Averroes who for his distinction between Faith and Reason was ' of heterodoxy by the caliphs and forced to flee. Then, imprisoned like a criminal. Then, confined to his home and humiliated to such a degree that when rehabilitated he no longer had any desire to live and died within a few months. Not without good reason, in his famous lecture held in 1883 at the Sorbonne, Ernest Renan said that attributed the merits of Averroes to Islam would be like attributing the merits of Galileo to the Inquisition.

Tigerhawk goes on;

The dirty little secret of the Renaissance is that it and all that followed might not have happened without Muslim scholars such as Averroes. The much dirtier secret of Islam is that it never learned to reconcile faith and reason. It persecuted its geniuses. Christianity did too, but the Inquisition was a losing rearguard action against the Age of Reason, which had already been ratified by Saint Thomas Aquinas and other theologians. Islam's own inquisition persists to this day.

This brings us back to The Independent's conception of Islamic inventiveness. Along with shampoo, bank drafts, the three-course meal, the pointed arch, gardens as places of "beauty and meditation," surgical instruments, early discoveries about human anatomy, and the transmission to the West of various inventions from points east -- virtually all of which happened roughly a thousand years ago -- The Independent might have mentioned, but did not, the recovery and translation of the great works of Greek antiquity. Without them, the West might not have risen to the cultural, scientific and military pre-eminance it has enjoyed for more than 400 years.

Revisionist history is dangerous. The propping up of "islamic inventiveness" is innocuous enough - part of a larger campaign. Bullshit glorification, media jizz as it were,  but in the case of Israel, antisemetic revisionist history becomes de facto, accepted  dogma and currency for the murder of Jews/Israelis. David Meir-Levi's pamphlet, "Big Lies" is the best one -stop compedium answering lies about Israel. hat tip MarcH

World Media Enables Iran

Click to play and watch this snippet of the press conference Iran gave to the world press after being referred to the security council.

It is very telling. The devil is in the details.  It is verifiable proof of what side the media is on, even if it means they'll get their asses blown off too.

Palkot, Fox News: "Why do you call the United States  warmongers?"

Iran Ambassador to the UN: [sardonically] "I am surprised this question's asked from FOX news" (laughing and the whole of the press corp starts laughing with him. They are in cahoots? They are on the same side? WTF?)

Palkot: Undeterred "Isn't it true that your country has participated in your own wars and supported terror activities throughout the region?"

Iran Ambassador to UN: Iran is the victim of terrorists........supported by United States
[nobody laughed, nobody]

Good on ya Palkott.

Tehran's Nuclear Duplicity

Iranian officials openly brag to one another about their success in fooling European Union negotiators into believing they had stopped their efforts to produce nuclear fuel, according to Hassan Rowhani, who until last last year headed talks with the European Union 3 -- Britain, France and Germany.
    "When we were negotiating with the Europeans in Tehran, we were still installing some of the equipment at the Isfahan site," where Iran was installing equipment to process yellowcake -- a key stage in the nuclear-fuel process, Mr. Rowhani said in a recent speech.
    Mr. Rowhani noted that U.S. officials repeatedly warned their European colleagues of Iranian cheating, but the Europeans refused to listen. "From the outset, the Americans kept telling the Europeans, 'The Iranians are lying and deceiving you, and they have not told you everything.' The Europeans used to respond, 'We trust them,' " Mr. Rowhani said in a speech to Iran's Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution. "When we were negotiating with the Europeans in Tehran, we were still installing some of the equipment at the Isfahan site. There was plenty of work to be done to complete the site and finish the work there. In reality, by creating a tame situation, we could finish Isfahan," he said.
    In September 2003, Mr. Rowhani said, Tehran faced a difficult decision when the International Atomic Energy Agency demanded a full picture of its nuclear activities. "The dilemma was if he offered a complete picture, the picture itself could lead us to the Security Council," Mr. Rowhani said. "And not providing a complete picture would also be a violation...and we could have been referred to the Security Council." Read it all hat tip phil

Steinmeier warns US of making military threats against Iran

Germany-Iran-Steinmeier
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier called on America to back away from making military threats against Iran over its nuclear program, the press reported Saturday. Hat tip MarcH

New BOLTON Video On Iran

You'll note  the constant referral to Bolton's "bluntness", Make note: blunt is a media dysphemism for honest and straight.

Oh and catch Voinovich crying during the Bolton confirmation hearings....that's really rich and yes that's me making fun of him in the background.

Money quote: Bolton:"My goodness, if the security council of the United Nations can't deal with that kind of threat to international peace and security, than what can it deal with?"

Asman: And if diplomacy fails?

Bolton: "We're working on the diplomacy, I don't want to speculate on what might come after that."

Kenneth Timmerman says Iran has enough material for 10 Nukes

Iran now has the materials to make up to ten nuclear weapons, the U.S. envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency told a closed-door meeting in Vienna yesterday. That stunning statement, by U.S. ambassador Gregory L. Schulte, not only turned heads; it changed minds.

It was also a conservative statement. In fact, nuclear experts tell me, if Iran had used the equipment the IAEA knows Iran imported from the nuclear black market of Pakistani nuclear dealer Dr. A.Q. Khan, it could have produced enough weapons-grade uranium for between twenty to twenty-five bombs – even as the IAEA was inspecting Iran’s declared nuclear sites. And some sources believe Iran has purchased actual weapons from Ukraine and North Korea recently on the black market

Fear Mongering. Bush or Al Qaeda?

MEMRI reports:

Purported "Al-Qaeda Undercover Soldier, U.S.A": Last Warning to American People - Two Operations Will Occur; Your Homeland Security Agency Must Surrender; States Far Away From Washington, D.C. Such as Arizona Will Be Hit; We Await Orders From Our Commander Osama Bin Laden; America Will Be Brought to its Knees

On March 10, 2006, the Global Islamic Media Front (GIMF) posted, on the IslamicBinlade_nnuclear_1 websites, a final warning to the American people, on behalf of "Rakan Ben Williams" who defines himself as "Al-Qaeda under cover soldier, USA [sic

Also, on November 24, 2005, the GIMF posted on the Islamic websites a similar warning, under the same name, that included an explicit threat to assassinate Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Australian Prime Minister John Howard, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and U.S. President George W. Bush, when the time comes, with a clear mention of the possibility of doing so after they complete their current terms of office. Although this communiqué was directed to these leaders, it noted that it referred to all Western leaders, and included special mention of Berlusconi. At its conclusion, the communiqué said that it had been written by "the one who thirsts for the blood of the Crusaders, the secret soldier of Al-Qaeda, Rakan Ben Williams, Italy (the Vatican)." [3]

WND reports here

The threat suggests the attack will be far greater in magnitude than Sept. 11, 2001, because following this one, "there will be no one to analyze and investigate, because the mind and the heart will be unable to comprehend it. ... This will not be a single operation, but two; one bigger than the other, but we will begin with the big one and postpone the bigger one, in order to see [how] diligent the American people is [in preserving] its life. If it chooses life, [it must] carry out the demands of the Muslims, and if it chooses death, then we are its best perpetrators." Hat tip Phil

If the recent polls are any indication, the left wing propaganda machine has succeeded brilliantly. Fear mongering, my ass. America must shake off this veil of denial. Abandon the agenda af the left wing media. Start reading the blogs. You can no longer ignore the Islamosfascist declaration of war on the west. FIGHT THE GREAT FIGHT, or you children will live in dhimmitude.

Iran and Hamas Readies for War

Global chessboard takes shape, comes into focus;

Hamas is busily preparing for war. A Hamas official identified as Abu Huzeifa, in an interview with the Gaza City newspaper Dunia al-Watan, revealed that sinceChessboard_gun_global Israel left the Gaza Strip, Hamas has built training camps in all Palestinian cities.

These camps are training new cadres of Jihadists. The basic training lasts a month, followed by three more months of advanced instruction in battle skills, endurance building, marksmanship, missile launching, commando fighting, hand-to-hand combat, crawling under fences, and urban warfare.

The instructors are Hamas members trained internationally, most likely in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.
Each training camp occupies over five acres and accommodates dozens of trainees

‘Therefore never send to ask for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.’

Ahmadinejad_iran_black_hand_1 Hamas has secure financing from Iran. They are now seeking additional aid from the Saudis. (RIYADH, March 10 Reuters) -

Leaders of Palestinian Islamist group Hamas arrived in Saudi Arabia on Friday on a visit they hope will ensure political and financial backing from the wealthy Islamic country, a Hamas official said.

Saudi Arabia, the world's biggest oil exporter and birthplace of Islam, has been one of the biggest financial backers of the Palestinian Authority. Hamas leaders have been on a tour of Arab and other countries seeking support.

Concurrently, Iran Threatens to Use Oil in Nuke Standoff and so what? The US will certainly manage without them, but can the same be said of Iran?  They refine none of their oil - none.. They ship it out crude  to be refined outside the country. Iran stops shipping oil to us/EU, and we'll stop shipping refined oil to them and let me tell you that will have a devastating effect on its population. Their people have become accustomed to state subsidized oil. It will kill their already crippled economy.

Bush suggests Iran stirs up violence in Iraq , a deliberate act of war.Bush Warns Iran, Syria on Iraq Meddling and angry US says Iran must end nuclear program in two weeks

 THE United States is pushing the United Nations Security Council to give Iran a two-week deadline to halt nuclear work that could be related to the making of weapons.

Bolton is all over this like a cheap suit. Did anybody  see him addressing the press corps at the UN yesterday? He's a giant -- formidable, staunch, self assured, clear,  unafraid. The only thing the mullahs and Islamofascists understand - strength. Just look where Israel's benevolence and unqualified withdrawal got her - a  Hamas victory and the scorn of the world entire.

UPDATE: Amazing work over at All things Beautiful, G-d vs. Allah

UPDATE: Duh..............

RIYADH : A visiting Hamas delegation said that it had been assured of Saudi Arabia's continued political and financial support despite US-led moves to isolate the militant group following its upset victory in Palestinian elections.

FALLACI! "The Truth Inspires Fear"

You gotta love the left, the self appointed left wing police. They won't carry a book by one of the great courageous voices of our time.  Oriana Fallaci!  Fallaci, who has been screaming into the noxious void of Eurabia (along with Bat Ye'or), warning of the coming rage of  war by Radical Islamofascists and yet bookstores are attempting to silence her by not carrying her book. Bennish, that two-bit tool,  goes back to teaching High School on Monday, goes back  to influencing and swaying fine young minds with his ignorant commie diatribes but no Fallaci. Cathy Seipp in today's New York Post here. Hat tip Netman;

"No," snapped the clerk. "We don't carry books by fascists."

Just savor the absurd details of this for a minute. City Lights [San Francisco book store] has a long and proud history of supporting banned authors - owner Lawrence Ferlinghetti was indicted (and acquitted) for obscenity in 1957 for selling Allen Ginsberg's "Howl," and a photo in the store's main room shows Ferlinghetti proudly posing next to a sign reading, "BANNED BOOKS." City Lights also has been featured in the ACLU's annual Banned Books Week events.

Yet the store won't carry Fallaci - who is being sued in Italy for insulting religion because of her latest book, and also continues to fight the good fight against those who think that the appropriate response to offensive books and cartoons is violent rioting.

It's particularly repugnant that someone who fought against actual fascism in World War II should be deemed a fascist by a snotty San Francisco clerk.

Strangest of all is the scenario of such a person's disliking an author for defending Western civilization against radical Islam - when one of the first things those poor persecuted Islamists would do, if they ever (Allah forbid) came to power in the United States, is crush suspected homosexuals like him beneath walls.

Yet those most oppressed by political Islam continue to defend it, even (perhaps especially) in the wake of the Danish cartoon furor. I've heard that in Europe this phenomenon is now called the Copenhagen Syndrome and that some of its arguments really are amazing.

Unfamiliar with Fallaci? Well first off buy her book. I am reading it now. POWERFUL and I will be reviewing it in the coming days. Tigerhawk excerpts the first five pages here, read it all

I don't like to say that Troy is burning. That Europe is by now a province of Islam or rather a colony of Islam and Italy an outpost of that province, a stronghold of that colony. Saying this amounts to admitting that the Cassandras really do talk to the wind, that in spite of their screams of pain the blind remain blind, the deaf remain deaf, consciences reawoken soon relapse into sleep, and the Mastros Cecco die for nothing. But the truth is just this. From the Strait of Gibraltar to the fjords of Soroy, from the cliffs of Dover to the beaches of Lampedusa, from the steppes of Volgograd to the valleys of the Loire and the hills of Tuscany, the fire is spreading. In each one of our cities there is a second city. A city superimposed and equal to the one that in the Seventies thousands and thousands of Palestinians set up in Beirut installing a State within a State. A government within the goverrnment. A Muslim city, a city ruled by the Koran. An Islamic expansion's stage. The expansionism that no-one has ever managed to overcome. No-one. Not even the armies of Napoleon. Because it is the only art in which the sons of Allah have always excelled, the art of invading and conquering and subjugating. Their most coveted prey has always been Europe, the Christian world, and shall we run a rapid eye over the History that Mr. Doudou would like to control or rather cancel?

It was in 635 AD, that is three years after Mohammed's death, that the armies of the Crescent Moon invaded Christian Syria and Christian Palestine. It was in 638 that they took Jerusalem and the Holy Sepulchure. It was in 640 that after conquering Persia and Armenia and Mesopotamia, present-day Iraq, they invaded Christian Egypt and overran Christian Maghreb. That is, the present Tunisia and Algeria and Morocco. It was in 668 that for the first time they attacked Constantinople and laid a siege that would last five years. It was in 711 that after crossing the Strait of Gibralter they landed in the most Catholic Iberian Peninsula, took possession of Portugal and Spain where despite the Pelayos and the Cid Campeadors and the other warriors engaged in the Reconquest they remained for noless than eight centuries. And whoever believes in the myth of *peaceful coexistence that marked the relationships between the conquered and the conquerors* should reread the stories of the burned convents and monestaries, of the profaned churches, of the raped nuns, of the Christian or Jewish women abducted to be locked away in their harems. He should ponder on the crucifixioins of Cordoba, the hangings of Grenada, the beheadings of Toledo and Barcelona, of Seville and Zamora. (The beheadings of Seville, ordered by Mutamid: the king who used those severed heads, heads of Jews and Christians, to adorn his palace. The beheadings of Zamora, ordered by Almanzor: the vizier who was called the-patron-of-the-philosophers, the greatest leader Islamic Spain has ever produced). Christ! Invoking the name of Jesus meant instant execution. Crucifixion, of course, or decapitation or hanging or impalement. Ringing a bell, the same. Wearing green, the colour exclusive to Islam, also. And when a Muslim passed by, every Jew and Christian was obliged to step aside. To bow. And mind to the Jew or the Christian who dared react to the insults of a Muslim. As for the much-flaunted detail that the infidel-dogs were not obliged to convert to Islam, not even encouraged to do so, do you know why they were not? Because those who converted to Islam did not pay taxes. Those who refused, on the contrary, did.

Back on November 29th, I went to see Oriana Fallaci. I am rerunning the whole thing because what she said can not be repeated often enough. She as well as Bat Yeor and Wafa Sultan should be taught in the Public Schools. Hear that Bennish?

         “I leave shreds of my soul on every experience.” - Oriana Fallaci

I went to see Oriana Fallaci this evening in what will most likely be her last speech. She is dying from cancer. No photos allowed. And while she could not have been more then 85 lbs, she railed away at Radical Islamofascim, the treasonous left and the impotent right as if she was taking on Goliath.

Oriana Fallaci - author of the powerful  Man and Letter to a Child Never Born has a fatwa calling for her death and  is being sued by the Muslim Union of Italy for her book The Force of Reason.  Consequently an Italian judge ordered her to stand trial in Bergamo on charges of "defaming Islam." From Prophet of Decline, WSJ hat tip: Susan D esq.

Oriana Fallaci faces jail. In her mid-70s, stricken with a cancer that, for the moment, permits only the consumption of liquids -one of the most renowned journalists of the modern era has been indicted by a judge in her native Italy under provisions of the Italian Penal Code which proscribe the "vilipendio," or "vilification," of "any religion admitted by the state."

In her case, the religion deemed vilified is Islam, and the vilification was perpetrated, apparently, in a book she wrote last year -- and which has sold many more than a million copies all over Europe -- called "The Force of Reason." Its astringent thesis is that the Old Continent is on the verge of becoming a dominion of Islam, and that the people of the West have surrendered themselves fecklessly to the "sons of Allah." So, in a nutshell, Oriana Fallaci faces up to two years' imprisonment for her beliefs -- which is one reason why she has chosen to stay put in New York. Let us give thanks for the First Amendment.

Ms. Fallaci speaks in a passionate growl: "Europe is no longer Europe, it is 'Eurabia,' a colony of Islam, where the Islamic invasion does not proceed only in a physical sense, but also in a mental and cultural sense. Servility to the invaders has poisoned democracy, with obvious consequences for the freedom of thought, and for the concept itself of liberty."

A Sermon for the West  Published: Friday, January 10, 2003

I Stand with Israel: I Stand with the Jews

From the book, Immortality, author, Milan Kundera writes,

"...who is the pioneer of modern journalism? Not Hemingway who wrote of his experiences in the trenches, not Orwell who spent a year of his life with the Parisian poor, not Egon Erwin Kisch the expert on Prague prostitutes, but Oriana Fallaci who in the years 1969 to 1972 published a series of interviews with the most famous politicians of the time. Those interviews were more than mere conversations; they were duels. Before the powerful politicians realized that they were fighting under unequal conditions--for she was allowed to ask questions but they were not--they were already on the floor of the ring, KO'ed."

This evening David Horowitz [his introductory speech here] of the Center for the Study of Popular Culture and Editor in Chief ofOriana_fallaci FrontPageMag  presented Fallaci with the Anne Taylor award (Anne Taylor was the first woman to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel - no joke). The speech will not be made public or published as Fallaci wants it for her last book she is currently writing. She said she "hopes her book helps her die a little less when I do die". And although she was supposed to receive this award at the Biltmore in February there was serious doubt she would make it..........The following remarks are from my fierce scribbling. In a word, Fallaci was wild. Smart determined, and intent on getting the message out there that we are underestimating the enemy. Playing nice guy, playing PC, killing all signs of religion (ie Christmas) will be the end of us.

"I do not believe the West will win."  Her fatalism is pure and unashamed.

The crowd to my surprise, was small. A peculiar mix of concerned, scholarly,  erudite and  moneyed. Not what I would call a "sexy" crowd (as in passionate), but Fallaci had more sex appeal and passion than the whole of the city.

I was fortunate enough to sit with Richard Poe of FrontPageMag and his lovely wife, and to my left Susan, a quick witted down-to-earth lawyer (!) who writes sporadically for the NRO who was joined by her equally involved hub. Susan just sent me this excellent NRO piece on Fallaci, read it before continuing on.

And to add to my delight I had  the great fortune to spent some precious, delicious time with Phylis Chesler. I shall  interview her later this week on her new book, The Death of Feminism

Oriana Fallaci -  frail, tiny hit that podium running. She looked up at us and said "you are my comrade in arms. Our opponents are leftists. Conservative are too genteel. You are warriors and warriors can not get tired."

"The secret of happiness is freedom, the secret of freedom is courage". In describing despotism, Fallaci said the despot ignores the body and attacks the soul. Because it is the soul the despot wants to put in chains. The despot wants to put the soul in shackles. "You are free not to think. Think as I do".

"The Truth Inspires Fear".

"Europe overflows with the witch hunts.... hits any one going against Islam. It overflows the with  New Inquisition. Trying to muzzle. Oh yes, like your Ward Churchills, your Noam Chomskys, your Louis Farrakhans and your Michael Moore's etc. TRAITORS! against which all antidotes seem to fail. Combined Neo nazi islamo fascism" [Atlas note: Fallaci spit these names out with such repulsion and utter contempt........riveting]

The Deaf remain the deaf, the blind remain the blind and both of them end up with ............brand of shame.

Islam has no sense of justice. The crime? The crime of opinion. A crime now disguised as re-education of Islam. Religious racism xenophobia.

Like love, hate belongs to  human nature. Should there be a penal code for the persecution for "hate"? Can we judge? Yes! It can be judged but only on a moral basis. For instance the moral basis of religion, the Christian religion, is based on love, not on a political basis or a criminal basis..........."It grants me the right to love who I want but also the right to hate who I want."

"It is my sacrosanct right! Those that hate me try to silence me with penal codes."

"And the West directs a hate towards itself. The West has lost its spirituality.It stands silent in the slander of Islam. "The censure of Europe".

"Civilizations die from suicide, not by murder," the historian Arnold Toynbee wrote.

On August 27, 2005, Fallaci had a private audience with Pope Benedict XVI at Castel Gandolfo with whom she found a kindred spirit and whom she believes understands the mortal threat faced by Christianity by the evil of Islamofascism. The Pope loves her work. "I feel less alone when I read the books of Ratzinger." I had asked Ms. Fallaci whether there was any contemporary leader she admired, and Pope Benedict XVI was evidently a man in whom she reposed some trust. "I am an atheist, and if an atheist and a pope think the same things, there must be something true. It's that simple! There must be some human truth here that is beyond religion." More here

Fallaci claims to be neither left nor right. She despises the left for the obvious reasons and holds the right in contempt for being weak. For not taking a hard stand and making the tough choices.

"Don't believe in a dialog with Islam. That's a naivete. It can only be a monologue. They do not believe in pluralism. There is no such thing as a "moderate Islam" and a Radical Islam. There is only one Islam."

I too believe this as much as it pains me to say it. I would like nothing better to believe that there is a side we can do business with, talk to. But that is self deluding.

Fallaci:"The real enemy is Islam and the most catastrophic threat is immigration not terror. It is immigration. And they do not integrate in Europe. Maybe in the USA but not in Europe. Those riots in France are a result of that very thing". The Chinese, Vietnamese etc immigrants are not rioting and tearing down the very fabric of society.

They [The Islamists] are very patient. And Clever.

This war needs boldness.

"WAKE UP WAKE UP. WE ARE AT WAR. WAR HAS BEEN DECLARED ON THE WEST AND WE MUST FIGHT. One or the other must perish."

and so she has spoken. And while it was painfully clear she was preaching to the converted, it was also painful that the choir was so small.
And so I pick up the mantle as do my fellow bloggers. Spread her word. Teach your children , I teach mine. They want to be just like Orianna when the grow up, just like their mother.

What a Magnificent Open Thread Day

WMD: 'Give the people the facts and the Republic will be saved.'

"Is this the tapes thing?" Bush asked, referring to two ABC News reports that included excerpts of recordings Saddam Hussein made of meetings with his war cabinet in the years before the U.S. invasion. Bush had not seen the newscasts but had been briefed on them.

Pence framed his response as a question, quoting Abraham Lincoln: "One of your Republican predecessors said, 'Give the people the facts and the Republic will be saved.' There are 3,000 hours of Saddam tapes and millions of pages of other documents that we captured after the war. When will the American public get to see this information?"

Bush replied that he wanted the documents released. He turned to Hadley and asked for an update. Hadley explained that John Negroponte, Bush's Director of National Intelligence, "owns the documents" and that DNI lawyers were deciding how they might be handled.

Bush extended his arms in exasperation and worried aloud that people who see the documents in 10 years will wonder why they weren't released sooner."If I knew then what I know now," Bush said in the voice of a war skeptic, "I would have been more supportive of the war."

Bush told Hadley to expedite the release of the Iraq documents. "This stuff ought to be out. Put this stuff out." Weekly Standard here hat tip Phil

Iran Nuke Enabler: The BBC is full of BS

BBC: Britain aided Israeli nuclear program

LONDON, March 10 (UPI) -- Britain sold Israel plutonium and heavy water in theIran_death_us_israel_1 1960s, helping to kickstart its nuclear weapons program, the BBC reports.

Using documents obtained under freedom of information laws, the BBC says that Britain deliberately misled the International Atomic Energy Agency. Mike Michaels, Britain's representative to the IAEA, reportedly played a critical part in assisting Israel.

Michaels knew that supplying Israel with a small quantity of plutonium would allow the country to develop nuclear weapons much sooner.

The BBC is recycling this 40 year old news item over and over again the past couple of days and weeks-- why? To show Israel has nukes? Why? To equate Iran's desire for nukes with Israel's nuclear program? They are saying that Iran could/should have nukes because Israel does?

Perfect example of typical left wing moral inversion. Israel has never admitted to having nuclear weaponry but let's say they have them. It speaks volumes that in over 40 years, they've never used them. Nor did they ever threaten to "wipe anyone off the map". If Israel had nukes, it would seem perfectly clear to me they were for defense. Israel, since 1948, has faced an existential threat. Israel, since her birth, has never had a moment's peace. She was attacked in 1948-1949, 1956, 1967, 1973, (not to mention -Munich Olympic athlete mass murder 1972). Ongoing conflicts continue 1982-2000. In addition, the West Bank and Gaza has met with terror attacks from the Palestinian inhabitants of those lands in the First and Second Intifada Uprisings (1987-1993, 2000-Present). Whatevuh, right? Why split hairs with undeniable, unambiguous details? Point being, nobody has touched a hair on Iran's prickly little head.

For all those badly in need of a short history lessons for beginners:

1. Nationhood and Jerusalem. Israel became a nation in 1312 B.C.E., two thousand years before the rise of Islam.

2. Arab refugees in Israel began identifying themselves as a part of the Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern state of Israel.

3. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 B.C.E., the Jews have had  dominion over the land for one thousand years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.

4. The only Arab dominion since the conquest in 635 C.E. lasted no more than 22 years.

5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders did not come to visit.

6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in Tanach, the Jewish Holy Scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Koran.

7. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem.

8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray with their backs toward Jerusalem.

9. Arab and Jewish Refugees: In 1948 the Arab refugees were encouraged to leave Israel by Arab leaders promising to purge the land of Jews. Sixty-eight percent left without ever seeing and an Israeli soldier.

10. The Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pograms.

11. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is estimated to be around 630,000. The number of Jewish refugees from Arab land is estimated to be the same.

12. Arab refugees were INTENTIONALLY not absorbed or integrated into the Arab lands to which they fled, despite the vast Arab territory. Out of the 100,000,000 refugees since World War II, theirs is the only refugee group in the world that has never been absorbed or integrated into their own peoples' lands. Jewish refugees were  completely absorbed into Israel, a country no larger than the state of New Jersey.

13. The Arab-Israeli Conflict: The Arabs are represented by eight separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation. The Arab nations inititated all five wars and lost. Israel defended itself each time and won.

14. The P.L.O.'s Charter still calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. Israel has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank land, autonomy under the Palestinian Authority, and has supplied them.

15. Under Jordanian rule, Jewish holy sites were desecrated and the Jews were denied access to places of worship. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian sites have been preserved and made accessible to people of all faiths.

16. The U.N. Record on Israel and the Arabs: of the 175 Security Council resolutions passed before 1990, 97 were directed against Israel.

17. Of the 690 General Assembly resolutions voted on before 1990, 429 were directed against Israel.

18. The U.N. was silent while 58 Jerusalem Synagogues were destroyed by the Jordanians.

19. The U.N. was silent while the Jordanians systematically desecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives.

20. The U.N. was silent while the Jordanians enforced an apartheid-like policy of preventing Jews from visiting the Temple Mount and the Western Wall.

Palestinian Arabs Dupe US $$$

US Congress Hears Testimony About Inflated PA Demographics

The United States Congress heard a damning report this week about U.S. aid being over-alotted due to deliberately inflated Palestinian population figures.
The findings of an exhaustive study on Palestinian Authority (PA) population statistics claims that the Palestinian Authority has deliberately misled U.S. and international humanitarian efforts by inflating their population figures to attract billions of dollars in relief funds.

Kosovo: Clinton bombed the wrong people

Clinton bombed the wrong people. Everything clinton touched turned to shit. More here from thr American Council of Kosovo;
Kosovo: The real test of U.S. foreign policy source: WND
If you want to see a place where Christians are outside of the law on their own ancestral land – come to Kosovo.

If you want to see American troops committed to establishing a narco-Islamic state on Christian land – come to Kosovo.

If you want to see Christian churches, monasteries and cemeteries desecrated on an almost daily basis, under the noses of thousands of Western soldiers – look no further than Kosovo.Seven years after William Jefferson Clinton launched a bombing campaign against a European Christian land in support of the Islamic terrorist Kosovo Liberation Army, it's as though the bombs have never stopped falling on the Christian remnant in Kosovo. Whether Clinton did it to divert attention from a burgeoning sex scandal, or whether it was part of a global anti-Christian campaign by Western liberals with a cultural death-wish, the results for the Kosovo Christians – and all non-Albanians in Kosovo – are the same.

Daniel Wultz has Died, American Victim of Islamic Terror

No,  it is not mother's day after all. I am sick sick sick. Debbie Schussel just gave me the tragic news. Daniel Wultz has died. He died. We all thought he was going to make it here after that terrible suicide murder bombing in Tel Aviv;

Last week, we wrote about Daniel Wultz, an American teen-age boy from Miami, who was a victim of the Palestinian homicide bombing of a Tel Aviv restaurant and bus station, during Passover, on April 17th.Danielwultz

Miraculously, though losing massive amounts of blood, suffering massive internal injuries, losing a kidney, his spleen, and a leg, Danny survived and awoke from his coma. But the pain of his injuries was too great for the 16-year-old who wanted to become a rabbi, and Danny was put back into a coma.

Sadly, this morning, Danny died. He is the eleventh fatal victim of that Passover homicide bombing perpetrated by Islamic Jihad and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, and one of many unsung American victims of Palestinian Islamic terror. As we noted, unlike Jill "Zeinab" Carroll, there was very little news or blog coverage of the story of Danny Wultz. As Americans, we should be outraged at the treatment of our fellow American, both by the Palestinians and by our media.

Wurtz_classmates_1Daniel Wultz, Z"L, 16-Year-Old American Victim of Palestinian Terror

Danny's father Yekutiel (Tuly) was also injured in the bombing, where he and his son lunched together at Mayor's Falafel, a kosher for Passover restaurant. He is quoted in The Jerusalem Post:

"Unfortunately, I remember everything," he said. "Daniel was thrown into my hands, and asked me to pick him up. But when I saw the extent of his injuries, I laid him down to wait for an ambulance. I held his hand and told him I loved him, and he told me he loved me." Go over to Debbie's site and read it all.

Here's a suggestion to all those sons scurrying in search of a Mother's Day present. Candy and flowers are swell, but a more lasting gift would be a call to your Senator or Congressman to request giving Mom a break.

Mom could use it, since she's been dealing with a lot of stress these past 60 years. It used to be that women only had the difficult jobs of cooking, cleaning, raising children, shopping, gardening, etc. Back in 1950, fewer than 12% of women withMothers_day children under the age of six were in the workforce. Two-thirds of households were "traditional," meaning the man went to work and the woman stayed home. No more. Today, nearly two-thirds of married couples have both spouses in the labor market. A whopping 60% of women with children under the age of six are punching a time card or carrying a briefcase. Culture warriors can fight over whether this is good or bad, but there's no getting around the reality of our modern world.

Happy Mother's Day to all you delicious women out there. G-d love you and bles you!

Ayaan Hirsi Ali evicted from home, Now Deported?

Andrew Bostom hipped me up to this. Ayaan Hirsi Ali is an international treasure. We must guard here, protect her with our very lives;

The upshot of this article is that Rita Verdonk, Integration Minister in NL, is “looking into” the basis on which Ayaan Hirsi Ali became a naturalized Dutch citizen.  On Friday Verdonk said Hirsi Ali had nothing to worry about, but today her spokesperson would no longer say that.

Absolutely despicable.  First they drive her out of her house – now they are apparently trying to drive her out of her country.They threw her out of her house because of all of the trouble she brought with her, the guards, the threats, but I don't believe that. They can not bear what she represents. They can't look at her and then look in the mirror. The can't stand the truth so they are evicting th truth.

Verdonk bekijkt naturalisatie Hirsi Ali toch

Liberals don't care Hirsi Ali lied to get asylum in 199212 May 2006

AMSTERDAM — Somali-born MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali may have told more lies about her past in order to get asylum in the Netherlands in 1992 than she has previously admitted, news programme Zembla has suggested.

Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk said on Friday that Hirsi Ali need not worry about facing repercussions for what she did 14 years ago. But she repeated she would have deported Hirsi Ali if she had been the minister back in 1992. "I don't like lies," Verdonk said on Friday.

Hirsi Ali shot to fame in 2002 when her criticism of aspects of Islam and the treatment of women in Muslim societies led to death threats. She joined the Dutch Liberal Party (VVD) and was elected to parliament in 2003.

She wrote the scripts for the short film Submission which featured semi-naked women taking about mistreatment under Islam. The director Theo van Gogh was murdered in November 2004 for helping her to make the movie.

Thursday's edition of Zembla retraced Hirsi Ali's journey from Somalia, via Kenya, to the Netherlands and uncovered both well-documented and previously unreported inconsistencies in her story.

Interviews with her brother, aunt and ex-husband raised doubts about Hirsi Ali's contention she fled to Europe to escape possible retribution from her family for not going through with an arranged marriage. Her relatives contradicted her claim that she was not present during the wedding to the Canadian-Somali man.

Hirsi Ali said she was forced to marry a stranger but her ex-husband said they had been in love and spent the week together after the wedding. [ a whole week? wow - Atlas] He then went back to Canada to prepare for her arrival. Supplied with a plane ticket, Hirsi Ali later arrived in Germany and took a train to Amsterdam rather than continue the planned journey to Canada.

Hirsi Ali said she came clean about the lies she told to get asylum when she joined the Liberal Party (VVD) in 2002. Yet prominent VVDer (and now EU Commissioner) Nelie Kroes described Hirsi Ali as a person who had lived through five civil wars in Somalia. This was not true as Hirsi Ali lived in Kenya for over 10 years before coming to the Netherlands.

A spokesperson for the VVD said the party had been aware that Hirsi Ali lied about her name and date of birth when seeking asylum. This was not seen as a barrier to her joining the party or becoming one of its MPs.

Her real name is Hirsi Magan. Her father was an opponent of the regime in Somalia and was jailed there. Hirsi Ali and her brother were sent to Kenya where she lived from the age of 10 to 22.

Zembla showed footage of Hirsi Ali in a documentary made the Dutch Muslim broadcaster only months after she was supposedly in hiding for fear of retribution from her family. It also emerged she was in contact with her father and on one occasion her jilted husband came to see her in the Netherlands. He left without harming her when she made it clear she did not want to continue with the marriage.

The MP's spokesperson said there was nothing new in the documentary and noted Zembla had chosen not to include other issues about her past, including her claims to be undergone female circumcision as a young girl.

Former Immigration Minister Hilbrand Nawijn called for Hirsi Ali to be stripped of Dutch nationally and deported. He was head of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) when Hirsi Ali applied for asylum.

History stutters. Truth tellers are always punished. We can not, must not let the Islamists take control of Hirsi Ali's destiny. She is under 24 hour armed guard. Our government must take a strong stand. On second thought Hirsi Ali needs American asylum. She belongs in New York. Oh and can someone tell me why the mainstream media has all but blacked out Hirsi Ali's tour. She should be front and center on the pages of America's newspapers.

Judith has more here.

UPDATE: From Michael  in in the Netherlands,

I am a Dutch conservative (weirdly we call that liberal) blogger. I am a member of the party Ayaan is a member of as well (the VVD).

Anyway; like you I am absolutely disgusted by what is happening lately to Ayaan Hirsi Ali. I try to keep close track of everything she is doing and I am incredibly ashamed about what is currently happening.

The debate whether or not they should take her nationality from her (deport her) is a real debate. It is almost unbelievable, but this could really happen. Although I think that the following two options are more probable: 1- they will force her to appologize and she'll leave parliament in 08

2- they will force her to leave parliament immediately

Both options are terrible, of course, but not as bad as the 'deport option'. We must aware; minister of integration Verdonk started an investigation already

Go over to his blog Free and Justice and get a gander at what is happening in the country itself from a soldier fighting the fight. Read it all.

John Bolton: "Syria must come out of denial that Lebanon is an independent country"

Syria must come out of denial that Lebanon is an independent country, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said May 12. here Which is why I so adore boltin John Bolton.

Bolton is calling on the U.N. Security Council to pass a resolution to pressure Syria and Lebanon to establish formal diplomatic ties and demarcate their shared border.[Good luck, Syria is Iran's proxy - Atlas] The  U.N. Security Council must pass a resolution pressing Damascus and Beirut to establish diplomatic ties to force Syria to "come out of denial" and recognize Lebanese sovereignty, U.S. Ambassador John Bolton said on Friday.

A draft resolution circulated at the United Nations by Britain, France and the United States this week called on Syria to respond to Lebanese government requests to clarify their shared border and agree to formal diplomatic relations.

Some of the council's 15 members have signaled they wanted the language taken out of the draft, saying it amounted to unwarranted interference in the neighbors' internal affairs. [but but but isnt that what Syria is doing in Lebanon, interfering in their neighbor's internal affairs. That UN is so confusing *SPIT*, uh not really, we got their number. We know they are and what they are -Atlas] More here.

And of course Bolton is right. But the UN stands against us. Stands against freedom loverrs everywhere. I mean let's call it what it is.

But Bolton called the provision "critical to force Syria to come out of denial that Lebanon is an independent country."

"The question between Syria and Lebanon involves a decades-long occupation of one country by the other, a continued meddling in the internal affairs of Lebanon by Syria," he said.

Danish Ambassador Ellen Margrethe Loj also defended the provision. "In my mind there is no doubt that it is needed," she said. But Greek Ambassador Adamantios Vassilakis cautioned that the resolution must conform "to the proper responsibilities of the council."

I love Denmark~!

The draft would also call on Syria to take steps to prevent arms flows from Syrian territory to militias in Lebanon. [Hizbollah and Hamas wont take kindly to that - Atlas]

The UN: Global Deception

From Henry Holzer;

This is not a book review, but rather a recommendation (no time to write a book review).

I have just finished reading GLOBAL DECEPTION. It's subtitle is "The UN's Stealth Assault on America's Freedom."

Unlike the plethora of books about the UN--its impotence, anti-Americanism, exalting of dictatorships, corruption, incompetence, etc.-- GLOBAL DECEPTION lays bare the Globalists'very real threat to American sovereignty through such tactics as an ideological takeover of our judicial system, the imposition of taxation schemes on the backs of we taxpayers for the benefit of the UN and its cronies, making our citizens subject to international kangaroo courts run by European socialists and worse--and much more.

GLOBAL DECEPTION is well written and easily understood. Indeed, it's case (that our sovereignty is terribly at risk) is so clear, that the reader comes away from the book without any doubt that in a certain sense the UN is as much of a threat to the United States as are the jihadists.

Iran's Axis of Evil Meet and Greet

Ahmadinejad laid it out at the Summit of eight large Muslim countries in Indonesia's resort island of Bali;

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, handing over the grouping's chairmanship to Yudhoyono, urged D-8 member states to work together for the welfare of the Islamic world and the entire world community.

"We are all members of the Muslim ummah (community) and the human society as a whole and thus have shared interests and concerns," he said. Here

You read the letter to Bush, so you know what that means.

Aside from Indonesia and Iran, the D-8 groups together Malaysia, Pakistan, Turkey, Nigeria, Bangladesh, and Egypt.

These countries have aligned themselves with Iran. They have come out in support of Nuclear Iran. They have signed on with Hitler-mini-me.

A one-day summit of eight majority Muslim nations has ended with a statement of support for the development of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.  The statement was warmly welcomed by one of the Muslim leaders at the summit, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. More here

Pay attention, the global chessboard is shifting and positioning itself for the great conflict.

PUNK JIHAD: Muslims Rioting in France

Having just spent time with Nidra Poller, it seems reality comes fast on the heels of her sagacity. Poller coined "Punk Jihad." Their government in its last throes. An anarchical Muslim population that knows the government will cave. They are incapable of saving themselves. Poor poor France. From today's weekend Wall Street Journal.

PARIS -- More than 11,000 people marched through Paris on Saturday to protest a bill that would stiffen rules for immigrants in France and give authorities the power to chose who is allowed in the country.

Protesters shouted "Solidarity with immigrants!" Many wore stickers showing anFrance_sucide immigrant being tossed into a trash can. Demonstrators marched to a square near the Interior Ministry and the headquarters of the governing conservative party.

Police said 11,200 people turned out to protest Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy's bill, while organizers put the figure at 35,000. It was France's largest march in support of immigrants in years.

The bill would make it more difficult for poor immigrants with little education and few skills to start a new life in France. Mr. Sarkozy, a presidential hopeful in next year's elections, says France should take a more proactive approach to immigration, an argument that gained resonance after riots ripped through heavily immigrant French suburbs last fall and forced France to rethink its model of integration.

The plan would set up a kind of quota system and create a three-year "competence and talent" residence card for foreigners whose skills would "constitute assets for the development and influence of France." Lawmakers began debating the plan early this month, and a first reading is planned next week.

Translate immigrants to Muslims. The press are afraid of their own shadow. Punk Jihad. No matter how they try the paint the riots as "rallying" it is this. Did you know all meals served in the public schools halal.

France is out of control. It's not good for Anerica. Losing Europe is not good for us.

Phony Phone Foolishness

I am stunned when the lunatics elected by the uninformed (thank the media)  scream bloody  murder about the latest NSA canard. The 12th imam is on his way (at least ah-mad-mini-me seems to think so), the worldwide Islamic extremist movement means to take us out, and Hitler part II is playing with nuclear weaponry. To better understand the latest phone kerfuffle, Ben wrote the following ;

  Traffic Analysis

As a public service, I thought I would shed some light on what it is the NSA is doing with all those phone records.  It’s not what the media implies it is. For starters, what they are not doing:  NSA analysts are not sitting at their consoles with their headphones listening to your conversation.  They don’t know about your mistress, how smart your son is, who Emily is going out with, your dinner plans, why you hate your boss, and they don’t care.  They don’t have the time to bother because:

1)       They have phone records, not taped conversations.

2)       Even if they had conversations, they wouldn’t have a fraction of the analysts needed to listen to more than a tiny, tiny subset of conversations, and they cannot waste their time on your personal issues.

In fact, they don’t even know what number you called, when, and where.  Yes, thisSorry_wrong_number_academy_promo information exists, but buried inside machines.  No one “knows” it, just as a librarian does not “know” a fact merely because it exists in a book on a shelf in a library.  And this information will stay buried, unknown, secure and personal unless something very unusual turns up.

So here is what is being done:  traffic analysis.  This is an arcane art-science, in which the analyst, or more precisely, in this case, the algorithms designed by analysts, glean information not from the conversations themselves, but from the patterns those communications generate in time and space.  Some of it is obvious and self evident:  you can tell the difference in communications patterns between passing information and coordinating an activity, because the coordination conversations will have short return messages initiated by the non-node elements, while information is generally passed to a node from only one element, and then distributed to a larger group by the node.

After 9-11, a lot of people talked about “connecting the dots”.  This is connecting the dots.  This is using a computer to pluck patterns out of the virtual “information space” in which people communicate, without actually monitoring the information itself.  Of course, should a particular pattern be red flagged by an algorithm, it could lead to actual monitoring.

In a New Century kind of way, it’s not unlike scanning the airspace for signs of enemy bombers- something taken for granted back in the Cold War but inappropriate today, now that we have an enemy that doesn’t bother to maintain old fashioned conventional air forces.  Today we have to scan information space for signs of enemy activity.

Exactly what can be gained from traffic analysis is highly classified for obvious reasons.  Any enemy, aware that certain communications patterns meant certain things to analysts, would make an effort to change patterns, or send “false positives” to the analysts.    The New York Times is aware of this too, and so would make every effort to get this information to terrorist groups and help them thwart intelligence analysts.

The people railing against this are still living with September 10th Mentalities.  I’ve heard it over and over; it’s “Wrong” to gather intelligence unless there is a clear sign of law breaking.  On 9-11, some of those hijackers hadn’t actually committed a felony UNTIL they took over the planes- what dots, then, were we supposed to connect?  Traffic Analysis is dot connection at work.  It is not wiretapping, it is not eavesdropping.  No personal information comes into contact with another human being unless it is part of a very suspicious pattern.

Thanks Ben.
In other words, STFU already and start fighting the real war. BTW, most Americans agree.

    WEAPONS GRAND URANIUM FOUND AT IRAN DEFENSE SITE

    The U.N. atomic agency has found traces of highly enriched uranium at an Iranian site linked to the country's defense ministry, diplomats said Friday. The finding added to concerns that Tehran was hiding activities that could be used to make nuclear arms.

But they said the density of enrichment appeared close to or beyond weapons grade _ the level used to make nuclear warheads. Story here

    "Destroy their buildings, make their ground shake and transform them into a sea of blood," said Hassan, dressed in military fatigues and a black turban, and holding an assault rifle.

    Geoff Fuller down in Charlotte has an eye opener on the OIC (Organization of Islamic Countries - instigator of the cartoon jihad here)

    Apparently, the impact of the Danish “cartoon controversy” will not be limited to the torching of embassies and burning of flags. If OIC has its way, it will begin the dismantling of freedom of speech worldwide.

    The offending cartoons, originally published last November in a Danish newspaper, would have descended into deserved obscurity if a group of imams hadn’t taken them on tour. (They are generally unfunny and assuredly less than insightful.) In fact, if the actual Danish cartoons alone had toured before the truly offensive ones were added, they might still have been largely ignored. Instead, because they were used to foment anti-Western sentiments, we are still talking about them five months later.

    The continued discussion seems due to agendas that have, to date, stayed largely hidden from the European and American public. The Saudi-based OIC leadership is orchestrating an international campaign to respond to what it calls “wanton provocation and reckless, blasphemous libertarianism cowering behind so-called freedom of the press.”

    So-called?

    Instead, I suspect we are witnessing another step in the Islamist agenda. Less than a year ago, President Bush spoke for the first time of a political and fundamentalist movement — Islamism — whose followers seek to reestablish the caliphate, an ancient Muslim theocracy. I don’t know why he waited so long. Whether Islamists traffic in pipe dreams, their ideology, Islamism, is what America has been at war with — not terrorism. Read it all here.

    Nidra Poller: "Punk Jihad"

    American asylum for French Jews: Before I go on, please sign the petition. More on it here.  We must help save these people. 12 million illegal aliens getting amnesty just because they crossed the border? C'mon, help these folks.

    VIDEO HERE:  NIDRA POLLER:
    THE MURDER OF ILAN HALIMI. WHAT FUTURE FOR THE JEWS IN FRANCE

    I'm just came back from the upper West Side having attended a lecture with Nidra Poller for CAMERA.org. I look forward to my lunch with her tomorrow. Listening to Poller speak of "homemade concentration camps", French Jew hatred, "punk jihad," and the dismal outlook for France and invariably Europe is beyond draining and depressing.

    I will run the lecture tomorrow (I don't have my equipment) but I will transcribe some myNidra_poller_003 notes.

    Nidra Poller is an expatriate. She left Philly in 1972 and circuitously came to France to live and write. She is long settled in Paris,  firmly planted in French soil (but to me she is quintessentially Americain)

    The picture she paints of France is grim. Nidra Poller has built a reputation as a "reliable witness." She started her testimony with a laundry list (seven pages) of antisemitic crimes - unfathomable in nature -- stomping on the heads of Jews.

    Poller describes the period in France from 2000 - 2006 as the following;
    Multiculturalism
    Appeasement
    Dialogue for Islam
    Obsessional hatred
    Systematic opposition Sabatoge in regard the United States, the United Kingdom (for daring to participate in the coalition), and Israel.

    Now what did this attitude produce?

    Enormous violence. Violence against Jews, violence against Muslim women, violence against teachers, violence against the state.

    It has produced what she calls "punk jihad", an economic decline, and a government in its last throes.

    An virulent exterminationist Jew Hatred.

    She calls it a "punk intifada." She uses these words, she uses punk because it is not an idealogy. It is a mixture of delinquents and a jidad mentality that is seeping into the society. She takes us through the enormous violence of 2006. Starting with  the Great Train Razzia",

    Paris 5 January 2006 -- French opinion makers are against the clash of civilizations the same way they are against the war in Iraq: fervently sure of their own moral superiority. But reality has a way of its own, and the Great Train Razzia that rang in the New Year on the Côte d'Azur is a smashing illustration of the clash of civilizations.

    One hundred drunk and disorderly "youths" from the "sensitive neighborhoods" outside of Marseille were let loose in a train carrying revelers from Nice to Lyon via Marseille. They vandalized the train, terrorized the passengers, stole from them, sexually assaulted several young women, made convincing death threats and, when all these wicked deeds were done, pulled the emergency brake and jumped the train on the outskirts of Marseille.

    Following fast on the heels of the train razzia, --the Cartoon Jihad, pointing out the French were more courageous than the Americans in running those toons, and despite 6 years of bending over backwards to make sure they never offended the Muslims, despite this they burned the cultural center in Gaza, French embassies, threatened French people and kidnapped French people.

    And then Ilan.

    She would not go on to describe the murder of Ilan Halimi's without speaking first of the 2003 murder of  Sebastian Sellam, a popular disc jockey at a hot Parisian night club called Queen. he young man known as DJ Lam C (a reverse play on his surname) left the apartment he shared with his parents in a modest building in of Paris’ 10th arrondissement near la Place Colonel Fabien, heading to work as usual. In the underground parking lot, a Muslim neighbor slit Sellam’s throat twice, according to the Rosenpress interview. His face was completely mutilated with a carving fork. Even his eyes were gouged out.

    His murderer said, "I killed my Jew. I can go to paradise now."

    So while the French authorities of the French media insisted Ilan Halimi was the first antisemitic murder, it was not.

    The facts surrounding the Halimi murder are so onerous, as to be overwhelming. This time  the insistence of the authorities to refuse and avoid the antisemitic motives led to their bungling of Halimi_3 the case and most certainly contributed to his death. The evidence was so voluminous, and they didn't follow up on any of it. They used a protocol from the 1970s that was for the kidnapping of the son of wealthy family. Which, btw, Ilan clearly was not. His parents were divorced. His mother was a secretary and Ilan was working to help his family and worked in a cell phone shop.

    The kidnappers called a Rabbi and said we have kidnapped an orthodox Jew (which Ilan was not, he was out with the girl that lured him to his horrible death on Shabbat.) When they called  the family for money, they said if you don't have it............go get it from the synagogue. This is not obvious? The police would not acknowledge the obvious antisemitic overtones. Despite pleas of Ilan's mother.
    Poller went on, line by line, piece piece, the evidence is devastating.

    23 people participated in torturing Ilan, another 20 were involved indirectly. The custodian of the building gave them the key to an apartment where they said they wanted to "keep someone."

    Three weeks of unimaginable torture. Three weeks. So many clues. So many guilty animals partaking in the continuing torture in their "homemade concentration camp."

    The screams must have been loud because the torture was especially atrocious: the thugs cut bits off the flesh of the young man, they cut his fingers and ears, they burned him with acid, and in the end poured flammable liquid on him and set him on fire.

    Horrible tortures. Horrible torturers.One of the torturers would go to work at a TV station everyday and come back and partake in the torture.  The girls that lured young men. They knew he had been kidnapped. They knew Yosef (the leader of the Barbarians) were extremely violent. They knew Ilan was still in his hands three weeks later. All they  had to do was make an anonymous phone call to the police. No one would have known. They did not do it. No neighbor thought to say to the police, something strange is going on in this building.

    The police told the family not to say a word. The Jewish community was not warned when prior attempts to kidnap Jewish men had failed. The Jewish community was not warned before the successful attempt.

    Even one member of the gang that dropped out of the gang because he was shocked by their violence, did not call the police.

    These neighborhoods are not ghettos. They are not sordid. Not squalid.

    When Ilan was found, the head of the fire department who was called to the scene, this man with decades of experience almost fainted when he saw him. The last thing Youssef Fofana l(leader of the murdering gang, the barbarians) did was to slit his throat twice and pour an inflammable liquid on him and to set it on fire  but not burn him to death because Ilan walked for perhaps one hour trying still to find a way to live.

    Fofana has subsequently become a hero to many in France. He claims he is a victim, something the leftist French media has been telling the collective Fofanas for a terribly long time. The media is more than culpable as well.
    In the aftermath of his murder, the French media have changed their version of the facts several times, obediently following the interpretations dictated by their government. Yet media coverage has still not shed light on the scope of this crime or placed blame on the real criminals.

    The Question and Answer:

    Can France be saved?

    Nidra: Logically, no. But it's not in my capacity to give up hope. So I am acting as if it can. Plus plus, it would be very bad for the United States for Europe to fall. We have much to learn from France because these things are happening in the United States in a  different way and I have been speaking here [in the US] for several weeks and I am finding people do not t see that.

    What I want to concentrate on is what can we learn from it . What can you we do to help us? What can we do to help you and what can we do to make sure that it will not turn into another Shoah.

    Next questioner was complaining he wasn't getting the news, this news in his news or New York Times. Nidra said stop reading the Times.

    I said you you have to go to the net, the blogs........he got pissed (!) He said "I'm not goiug to the blogs! The total American population is not going to the blogs."

    Listen to it all...............I'll load the file when I get home.

    UPDATE: Here's the file of Poller's lecture. Anyone want to convert for me?

    Atlas Interviews ANDREW BOSTOM: "Muhhammad is the Prototype Jihadist"

    First, view the video of Andrew Bostom on O'Reilly here going toe to toe against a member of the Muslim Council of Islamic Affairs on last night's show. Then listen to my interview with Andrew Bostom, author of The Legacy of Jihad, we just hung up the phone.

    Much thanks to Brian. He just transferred file  to MP3- -- if anyone wants the digital version, write me.
    Download AndrewBostominterviewedbyAtlasS.mp3

    Here's lunch (and dinner) kids.................Bostom is wildly brilliant and yet,  very regular.  Rare.  Bolton has that quality too.
    Interviewing Andrew  Bostom validates every diabolical concern I have with the RoPMA, and makes America's delusion and denial all the more devastating. Oh and BTW, Bostom hates that bullshit religion of peace nonsense too. Ridiculous.

    Here is a man, a professor of medicine at Brown, that has made the study of Islam and Jihad a life's work. A life's work...........the depth and breadth of his knowledge makes ominous the prospect of a peaceful, diplomatic solution. In a word, impossible.

    Bostom's book makes mincemeat out of the whole argument that Radical extremism is merely one interpretation of the Koran.  Jihad does come out of many verses of the Koran.Legacy_of_jihad_1

    "Chapter 9 is a series of war proclamations. And those war proclamations are not against long extinct people. They are against Jews, Christians, Pagans (Hindus, Buddhists, Animists ie those in Sudan.)
    Take Muhammad's behavior. Muhammad is the prototype Jihadist. Muhammad evolved from a proselytizer to a warrior. He is the "perfect Muslim man." He waged 70 odd Jihad campaigns. Almost all of them targeting specific populations on the Arabian peninsula.......Christians, Jews, Pagans........this became the normative model.

    Many of today's leaders of Islam link  Muhhammad to terrorism ..........to Jihad. For example Sheikh Qaradawi who has with an enormous audience he reaches on al-Jizz, recently did a 2 hour sermon on  The Prophet Muhammad as a Jihad man.  The prophet Muhammad is the perfect Jihad model.

    There is no "greater spiritual Jihad" as many point to as an alternative interpretation of jihad. Many have gone--  including Islamic scholar Reuben Firestone --  in search of such a reference - to a Spiritual Jihad - in the Koran and it is not to be found. There exists no such hadith. This supposed saying can not be found.

    It gets worse........

    We covered a lot of ground. From Bosnia to Bernard Lewis.Nor did he gloss over  Clinton's shallow understanding of the Serbian/Kosovo conflict. "The Serbs suffered 500 years under Muslim rule." We bombed the wrong people and they were shocked when we bombed them.
    Bostom strongly advises we read the book Defeating Jihad:How the War on Terrorism Can Be Won - in Spite of Ourselves by Serge Trifkovoc. Trifkovic identifies with precision the existential threat to both Western and other modern democracies--global Islamic terrorism, as perpetrated by Muslims following the uniquely Islamic dogmas and historical practices of jihad.

    Bostom reveres Wafa Sultan, Ayaan Hirsi Ali and holds these courageous heroes up as the antidote, the possible cure for the gangrene that infects the Muslim world. I hold no such hope.He calls Hirsi Ali;

    "compelling, articulate and incredibly courageous. Charles Johnson was blogging just about every speech of hers. She has a new book* that I just grabbed yesterday. She makes very clear that the problem is Islam itself. That shouldn't be a terrible thing to say.  Islam needs to undo a lot of its institutions, you know the kind of thing that [CAIR and the Muslim Council of Islamic Relations] deny even exist ....like the Jihad, like the imposition of  Islamic law, like the brutalization of women, that's all sanctioned by sharia. Like the whole notion that no Muslim society can be ruled by anything other than sharia law".

    We leave our children a terrible, awful world. We must stop buying into the hudnas-- temporary calm  until they get their act together to "kick the shit of us."

    And Bostom thinks like me, we gotta take those nuclear installations in Iran. Bah dah bing, bad dah boom.

    *Ayaan Hirsi Ali's new book: The Caged Virgin : An Emancipation Proclamation for Women and Islam

    UPDATE Here is a powerful example of why ALL Americans must learn about jihad doctrine--:

    Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Thursday that his letter to President George W. Bush did not concern the nuclear dossier, but rather was an invitation to Islam and the prophets culture. Article here.

    NSA: It's the Intel Stupid!

    I received the following from a retired spook;

    I am SO SICK of hearing about the NSA!!  I worked for the NSA for 20 years as a Naval Cryptologist (1981-2001), and I worked at NSA for over 3 years!  It used to be a super secret agency that no one really knew anything about, and let me tell you - the intell gathered helped keep this country safe FOR DECADES!

      The thing that killed us was what Clinton did! Not being able to share info with the other agencies..

      Now, the fuckin liberals would rather put us all into GRAVE DANGER because they hate Bush, than keep America's secrets - SECRET. Like an idiot friend said, "why is the govt keeping 9-11 tapes secret?"  I told him - because we don't want the fuckin terrorists to know what we know!  (about them, their methods, lingo, etc) - but the asshole thinks the gov't is doing it to keep Americans in the dark.  What a dick!

    For my 20 years, NSA was on the up-and-up and we don't / didn't listen to American's comms!  We collected data against enemy targets!!!!  The enemy is out there and we used to be able to listen to his shit, but the libs are ruining it - for political reasons - the ASSHOLES!

    Like I said, I'm so mad - the liberals keep giving the enemy our intelligence, that took forever to get, I'm just so mad. SECRET.

    Spoken like a true sailor (which I love) and a true America (which I adore and respect.) Thank you soldier.

    More bad news for Americans from Stop the ACLU here;

    In an attempt to rekindle the scaremongering of the paranoid left, USA today has taken upon itself to "declassify" more classified information about programs aimed at protecting us. Obviously they decided that there wasn't already enough damage done to national security.

    The National Security Agency has been secretly collecting the phone call records of tens of millions of Americans, using data provided by AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth, people with direct knowledge of the arrangement told USA TODAY.

    The NSA program reaches into homes and businesses across the nation by amassing information about the calls of ordinary Americans — most of whom aren't suspected of any crime. This program does not involve the NSA listening to or recording conversations. But the spy agency is using the data to analyze calling patterns in an effort to detect terrorist activity, sources said in separate interviews.

    "It's the largest database ever assembled in the world," said one person, who, like the others who agreed to talk about the NSA's activities, declined to be identified by name or affiliation. The agency's goal is "to create a database of every call ever made" within the nation's borders, this person added.

    You must read it all. Jay explains;

    It isn't secret anymore, now is it? If you read the entire thing you could easily be left with the impression that the government has gathered all kinds of personal information on you, studied your calling habits, etc. These phone companies went along with the government's request for phone records. These are records that the phone companies keep anyway, that are often called upon in court cases. No one has been listening in on domestic phone calls, they are only collecting a database of what numbers called other numbers.

    Since Quest is the only company that refused to work with the government on the matter without a FISA warrant, we should be seeing a mass flocking of the paranoid left over to this company. That might not be such a good idea however. This leak may have just tipped some terrorist to exactly what communications in America are more vulnerable.

    This says is all here.

    Today's Euphemism: Net Neutrality

    If history has taught us anything, it's be careful of harmless terms.............."final solution", "United Nations", "MoveOn", "work is freedom"..................now "net neutrality," the latest piece of intellectual dishonesty to wrest control of a truly free net. More here from Jason Wright;

    A free and unfettered Internet has changed the way we live and do business in just more than a decade. All without, in fact because of, the absence of extensive government interference. New government regulations would virtually assure that entrepreneurs and resourceful companies would be limited in how they could advance that progress. Americans no doubt would be losing out on important new technologies in education, health care and commerce if Congress decides to create laws and enforce regulations for problems that don’t yet, and may never, exist. As trite as the expression has become, Net Neutrality is the classic case of a solution in search of a problem.

    Indeed, it is difficult to figure out exactly what the perceived “problem” is. The evidence presented by MoveOn to support their case is scant. Its Web site, the ridiculously misleading www.savetheinternet.com, is full of examples of what “could” happen if regulations aren’t enacted.

    As this debate continues in the weeks ahead, lawmakers should remember that the Internet has thrived under free-market conditions and that small businesses and individuals are limited only by their own ideas as to how to use the Internet. The captains of the Internet industry, including Google, Yahoo and Amazon, those who have made billions on a largely regulation-free Internet, should know better than anyone the limitless possibilities the virtual free-market provides. They should be the last voices trying to restrict or control what customers do with the Internet. They and the many competing Internet service providers in the marketplace know that mistreatment of customers will lead only to one thing: Customers fleeing with their wallets to a more friendly reception from other players in the Internet game.

    The beauty of the Internet is that anyone with a computer and passion can participate.

    Amen, which is why they want to exert control.

    Bolton on UN Reform

    AMBASSADOR BOLTON: "Yes, I do have a broader strategy, it's to institute an ongoing pattern ofBolton_rand_ideal reform that will be self-sustaining. We've said repeatedly that reform is not a one-night stand. It's a continuing process it's perpetual. And I think the importance of pursuing the reform on as many fronts as we can, as far and as fast as we can, is part of that. People have to appreciate that the reforms we are seeking are very far-reaching, and that that means not just a little change here, and a little change there, but fundamental change across the board. So that's the strategy, and by talking about all these issues, we help underline them."

    It's why I love Bolton, he walks the walk and talks the talk. Bah dah bing, Bah dah boom. After he cleans up the UN, send him over to clean up and clean out the State Department.

    The Danish Prime Minister on the Danish Muhammad Cartoons

    Over at Agora;  The Danish Prime Minister was interviewed Sunday about the recent events:

    Excerpts: "People die during violent demonstrations in Pakistan, and places rarely heard of. And with typical self-centered narcissicism, in Denmark it is interpreted as a matter of Danish immigration policy and Danish integration policy. Noone even knows about these things in the streets of Pakistan - to be frank, I think this kind of criticism is beyond the pale," [...]

    But that’s not how your statements has been interpreted. They’ve been interpreted as you distancing yourself from the cartoons.

    "That’s right, but what I said was only that I wouldn’t draw those cartoons, and for that I have various personal reasons. But it is very important here to underline precisely what that statement covers, because some have apparently interpreted it as me saying that I would forbid others to do so. And that is precisely not what I meant, and that distinction is very, very important. Everybody in the debate says with great gravity that we must guard Freedom of Speech and that everybody has the right to print whatever they like. "But…" they then say - and that means that they don’t really mean that. That is where they lose their grip, in my opinion." [...]

    How is that attained?

    "Well, that can only be attained by accepting that Freedom of Speech means that everything can be scrutinised and is up for debate. I will, to take an example, never accept that Sharia can’t be examined critically. It mustn’t be so that just because someone says it’s sacred, it’s not to be the object of discussion. There’s been a lot of talk about people being offended, but you’ve got to ask yourself what is most offending - a few cartoons or two boys that have been hung in Iran or women that are stoned to death or have their hands chopped off. It’s important to keep the right perspective."

    What would you say?

    "I know what my personal preference is. I get most offended by seeing two teenagers hanging from the gallows in Iran, and I want the freedom to say that," says the Prime Minister. "By any means available, we must ensure that no man is persecuted or discriminated against solely because of his religion. That means that we must reject anti-semitism, islamophobia, anti-christianity and ensure that all men have protection for their right to believe whatever they want. That is an essential part of the answer. And that, I think, can be done in good manners, to say that we must be allowed be allowed to question everything and be critical, while protecting all people of all faiths against discrimination and persecution. I would even say that if that was something that could be agreed on universally, it would be a beautiful thing. That would also mean that Christians were guaranteed equal opportunities in Moslem countries."

    PBS 9PM Tonight

    Generally I despise the left wing bias of PBS and can't for the life of me understand why our hard earned taxpayer dollars still fund an enterprise that has 800 free market channels. That  notwithstanding, Madahar writes;

    Because of the bias, I normally don't endorse PBS programming; however, WSJ goddess Dororthy Rabinowitz touts this as a fair and informative program about the 1970 hijackings of 4 airliners to Beirut airport.

    3 planes were pirated to Beirut. The 4th plane was an El Al flight from Europe, whose pilot RESISTED THE HIJACKERS, threw the plane into a sharp dive, allowing onboard El Al security the chance to execute the Muslim animals on the spot. Yashir Koach! The plane landed safely in Tel Aviv.

    A tourist shot video of the scene, and it will be shown tonight.

    Sorry Sean, although a night without Colmes is a gift.

    Hitlerchamberlain BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The European Union threw the Palestinians a short-term aid lifeline on Monday to help stave off imminent financial collapse, despite the appointment of a leader of the Islamist militant group Hamas as prime minister.

    But the 25-nation bloc made sure most of the 120 million euros ($142 million) would bypass the Palestinian Authority, sharpening pressure on Hamas to moderate its radical policies when it takes over government responsibility.

    "Today I have announced a very substantial package of assistance to meet basic needs," European External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner said after EU foreign ministers discussed how to respond to the impending formation of a government by Hamas, which does not recognize Israel's right to exist and espouses armed struggle.

    TERROR TRAINING CAMPS: Terrorists in U.S. 'training for war'

    From the land of terror enablers Schumer (LEAVE AL QAEDA'S PHONE CONVERSATIONS ALONE!) and Hillary (NO PORT DEAL)............terrorist training camps. I wonder how much payola they received from these terrorists? WHERE IS THE OUTCRY CHUCKIE? Schumer and Clinton are comfortably ensconced in the pocket$ of  corrupt unions (it's their bread and butter).) It is incumbent upon them to enable the deeply embedded corruption and featherbedding practices that have become  a way of life at our  port facilities. Perhaps a new management firm might shake things up, save money and perhaps even enhance security.

    Probe finds terrorists in U.S. 'training for war'

    Neighbors of Muslim encampment fear retaliation if they report to police

    The Pakistani terrorist group Jamaat ul Fuqra is using Islamic schools in the United States as training facilities, confirms a joint investigative report by an intelligence think tank and an independent reporter.

    A covert visit to an encampment in the Catskill Mountains near Hancock, N.Y.,Terror_camp_ny called "Islamberg" found neighboring residents deeply concerned about military-style training taking place there but frustrated by the lack of attention from federal authorities, said the report by the Northeast Intelligence Network, which worked with an Internet blogger, "CP," to publish an interim report. (Entrance to Hancock, N.Y., encampment (Courtesy Northeast Intelligence Network))

    The neighbors interviewed, who asked not to be identified, said they feared retaliation if they were to make a report to law enforcement officials.

    "We see children – small children run around over there when they should be in school," one neighbor said. "We hear bursts of gunfire all of the time, and we know that there is military-like training going on there. Those people are armed and dangerous." Read it all

    Why aren't Chuckie and Shrillary SHUTTING THESE TERROR CAMPS DOWN? So busy busy busy Chuckie is ~~ attempts to kill off the Alito and Roberts SCOTUS nominations, whining about Al Qaeda surveillance, and now screeching about the NON SECURITY issue of Dubai managing port operations (NO SECURITY INVOLVED).

    Read the whole article and  begin to understand how dangerous the left is to our national security. I want these camps closed down.

    Members have been known to go to Pakistan for paramilitary training, but the investigation found evidence the U.S. encampments offer such training so members don't need to risk traveling abroad amid increased scrutiny following the 9-11 attacks.

    The report says Jamaat ul-Fuqra members have "purchased isolated rural properties in North America to live as a community, practice their faith, and insulate themselves from Western culture. The group has established rural encampments that U.S. authorities allege are linked to murder, bombings and other felonies throughout North America."

    U.S. authorities have probed the group for charges ranging from links to al-Qaida to laundering and funneling money into Pakistan for terrorist activities. The organization supports various terrorist groups operating in Pakistan and Kashmir, and Gilani himself is linked directly to Hamas and Hezbollah. hat tip Tom P

    France: Halimi's Murder Diabolique and Israel's Silence

    France is dead, long live the era of the living dead. Blood suckers.
    Naomi Ragen wrote me about Ilan Halimi long before reports appeared in the newspapers and the crime was acknowledged as one more Muslim atrocity against Jews.

    Jewish friends in Paris whispered to her in horror at the sheer barbarism of theJ_accuse813kb308x411 crime, in which an innocent young man was held for twenty days, found with all his fingers cut off, and burns and bruises over 80% of his body.  Because he was a Jew.

    The Jews and other decent French people have taken to the streets of Paris to finally, finally, openly protest Muslim anti Semitism and Nazi-like  barbarism.  But not a peep is heard here in Israel, even though the murderers were connected to a Palestinian terrorist organization.  Because official Israel just doesn't want to acknowledge this has nothing to do with land, or occupation, or any of the other excuses we'd like so much to believe.  It doesn't want to acknowledge that every Jew is now a target, and that Israel is the bull's eye.

    Below, Caroline Glick, elaborates

    Column One: Ilan Halimi and Israel Ilan Halimi's barbarous murder in France should awaken all Jews to the most significant truth of our times: Today, every Jew in the world is on the front lines of war.

    As was the case 70 years ago, every Jew today is a target for our enemies, who shout from every soapbox and prove at every opportunity that their goal is the annihilation of the Jewish people. From 1933-1945, the enemy was Nazi Germany. Today, the enemy is political Islam. Its call for jihad aimed at annihilating the Jews and dominating the world is answered by millions of people throughout the world.

    Among the lessons of the Holocaust, there is one that is almost never mentioned. That lesson is that it is possible, and indeed fairly easy to exterminate the Jews. The fact that the Holocaust happened proves that it is absolutely possible for the Jewish people to be wiped off the map - just as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hamas leader Khaled Mashal promise.

    The story of Ilan Halimi's murder at the hands of a terrorist gang of French Muslims brings to the surface the various pathologies now converging to make the prospect of annihilating all Jews seem possible to our enemies. First, there are the murderers who took such apparent pleasure and felt such pride in the fact that for 20 days they tortured their Jewish hostage to death.

    This makes sense. Anti-Semitism in the Muslim dominated suburbs of Paris and other French cities is all-encompassing. As Nidra Poller related in Thursday's Wall Street Journal, "One of the most troubling aspects of this affair is the probable involvement of relatives and neighbors, beyond the immediate circle of the gang [of kidnappers], who were told about the Jewish hostage and dropped in to participate in the torture."

    It appears that Ilan Halimi's murderers had some connection to Hamas. Tuesday, French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said that police found propaganda published by the Palestinian Charity Committee or the CBSP at the home of one of the suspects. The European Jewish Press reported this week that Israel has alleged that the organization is a front group for Palestinian terrorists and that in August 2003 the US government froze the organization's US bank accounts, accusing it of links with Hamas.

    Halimi's family alleges that throughout the 20 days of Ilan's captivity, the French police refused to take the anti-Semitic motivations of the kidnappers into account. The investigators insisted on viewing his kidnap as a garden variety kidnap-for-ransom criminal case, which they said generally involves no threat to the life of the captive. The police maintained their refusal to investigate the anti-Semitic motivations of the kidnappers in spite of the fact that in their e-mail and telephone communications with Ilan's family, his captors repeatedly referred to his Judaism, and on at least one occasion recited verses from the Koran while Ilan was heard screaming in agony in the background. The family alleges that if the police had been willing to acknowledge that Ilan was abducted because he was Jewish, they would have recognized that his life was in clear and immediate danger and acted with greater urgency.

    Like the police, the French government waited an entire week after Ilan was found naked, with cuts and burns over 80 percent of his body by a train station in suburban Paris, before acknowledging the anti-Semitic nature of the crime. According to the press reports, the French government was at least partially motivated to suppress the issue of anti-Semitism by its fear of inflaming the passions of the French Muslims who make up between 10 to 13 percent of the French population and comprise a quarter of the population under 25 years old. And yet, now that the French government has acknowledged that the crime was motivated by hatred of Jews, it is behaving responsibly in pursuing the murderers and decrying the attack on French Jewry.

    In addition to the exterminationist anti-Semitism of Ilan's murderers and the unwillingness of the French authorities to acknowledge the anti-Semitic nature of the crime until it was too late, there is one more aspect of the case that bears note. That is Israel's reaction to the atrocity. In short, there has been absolutely no official Israeli reaction to the abduction, torture and murder of a Jew in France by a predominantly Muslim terrorist gang that kidnapped, tortured and murdered him because he was a Jew.

    No Israeli government minister, official or spokesman has condemned his murder. No Israeli official has demanded that the French authorities investigate why the police refused to take anti-Semitism into account during Ilan's captivity. No Israeli official flew to Paris to participate in Ilan's funeral or any other memorial or demonstration in his memory.

    Iran's Atomic Weapons Program

    REPORT LINKING IRAN TO WEAPONS PROGRAM

    A report detailing Iran's uranium enrichment efforts and a secret project linked by U.S intelligence to a possible atomic weapons program will be issued Monday to the board of the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency, diplomats said.

    The board already reported Iran to the U.N. Security Council, but the council is waiting for the report and the outcome of the  meeting before taking any concrete action. The council has the power to impose economic and political sanctions on Iran.

    The IAEA, a notoriously docile, toothless, animal is final admitting to an Iranian atomic weapons program. Rest assured it is far deeper, much further along and much more dangerous than described.

    Much ado (about nothing) is being made of the "new and improved" Iran Russia deal;

    Iran strikes deal with Russia on uranium enrichment project
    IRAN has reached a basic agreement with Russia on a "joint venture" to enrich uranium, Iran's nuclear chief said yesterday, in a deal that could put an end to the growing international crisis over fears that Tehran wants to build atomic bombs.

    This hardly ends my fears but serves to increase them. The world is looking for any way out. The world is begging to be conned. The slumbering masses want desperately not to have to deal with this.

    Iran says it agrees basic nuclear deal with Russia
    BUSHEHR, Iran (Reuters) - Iran has reached a "basic" agreement with Russia on jointly enriching uranium, officials said on Sunday -- but there was no immediate sign that it would suspend home-grown enrichment to allay fears that it is developing nuclear weapons.

    Just for knowing, I am not buying any of it, not for a second. Everyone wants their fears assuaged but a "joint venture" between Russia and Iran is like a joint venture between Stalin and Hitler. No good can come of it.It reeks of the unholy alliance: Stalin's Pact With Hitler and I am sure Ahmadinejad will turn on Putin in much the same way Hitler turned on Stalin.

    Everyone gets caught in the nuclear crossfire.........

    Dirtiest Deal: Mosque and State

    Regular Atlas readers have been following the Islamic Society of Boston's connections to Al qaeda and MOSQUE AND STATE

    In today's Boston Herald opinion piece  "It’s time to air BRA deal"

    Mayor Tom Menino may still be in denial, but at least one city councilor is willing to raise questions about a sweetheart land deal given to the Islamic Society of Boston for its new mosque.

        Councilor Jerry P. McDermott says he’s prepared to hold public hearings in an effort to find out how and why the Boston Redevelopment Authority turned over land worth more than $2 million to the society for a mere $175,000 plus a package of alleged “community benefits.”     Part of the controversy over the 1.9-acre mosque site is the role of Mohammad Ali-Salaam, who now serves as BRA deputy director for special projects, has long advocated for the mosque project and, according to documents, helped raise money for it in the Middle East.

        Still Menino is insisting, “He didn’t have a say in the price. That’s not his department.”

        But there’s an indication, developed in the course of a lawsuit brought by community activist James Policastro, that Ali-Salaam was aware the Islamic Society of Boston had put the land value at $2 million.

    Lawsuits are, of course, often long, drawn-out affairs. What is called for here and now is a public airing of what the BRA thought it was doing at the time and how it could possibly deal away public land at a bargain basement price. That’s what McDermott wants to get to the bottom of, knowing, as he put it, “This will be the tip of the iceberg” as it relates to the BRA.

        Well, it’s time to start chipping away. Hear Hear.

    The Harris Poll: Not Partisan and Not Paid for by a "Client"

    How refreshing, a pollster who is not on the take. Today.s New York Sun

    For all the ink being spilled on the low approval ratings of President Bush and Vice President Cheney in the polls, one fascinating poll released earlier this month has gotten surprisingly little public attention. That is the Harris Poll that for 39 years in a row has been measuring public confidence in American institutions.

    At the top of the heap? The military. 47% of Americans said they had a great deal of confidence in its leaders. The institution that came next as far as inspiring confidence was small business - 45% of respondents had a great deal of confidence in its leaders, and only 6% said they had "hardly any" confidence in small business

    Near the bottom of the list, by comparison, were organized labor and law firms. Only 12% of Americans had a great deal of confidence in the leaders of organized labor, and only 10% had a great deal of confidence in the leaders of law firms.

    That's takes care of, say - 98% of the Democratic party (figure Hollywood at 2%)....give or take of course.

    The pollster notes that "at 30 percent, confidence in the leaders of organized religion is at its highest level since 1975 (32%) and represents a major turnaround since 2003 when only 19 percent had a great deal of confidence."

    hmmmmmmmmm, they will make the secularists bloody ill.

    [...]The American people as a whole have a collective wisdom, a way of sorting the wheat from the chaff. The Rochester, N.Y.-based poll wasn't paid for by any client.

    Whaaaaaaaat? Wasn't paid for --- well that is positively unZogbyan!

    [...]The relatively high rankings for the military, small business, and organized religion and the relatively low ones for organized labor and lawyers are an indicator that for all the hand wringing about the president's sagging approval ratings, the American people's values have a conservatism about them that transcends political trends.

    November is the only poll that counts.

The laws relating to citizenship rights place the nation’s black African Christians at the bottom, in legal limbo without status or rights. Muslim men are first-class citizens. Unveiling the Danish Cartoons:
    A Discussion on Free Speech and World Reaction

    Who: Ayn Rand Institute president Yaron Brook and additional panelists.

    What: (1). A display of the controversial Danish cartoons depicting Mohammed.
    (2). A panel discussion and Q&A on the meaning of the worldwide reaction to the cartoons.

    Where and When: UCLA, Los Angeles (March 10); Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore (March 13); and USC, Los Angeles (April 10). For more detailed information go to: here

    Summary: ARI's Yaron Brook will participate in a panel discussion on the Mohammed cartoon controversy. He will explain: Why the eruption of violence and the issuance of death threats make completely irrelevant the question of whether the cartoons are inAyn_rand_danish_cartoon bad taste. Why the idea that freedom of the press must be "coupled with press responsibility" means that free speech is not a right, but a fleeting permission. Why every Western newspaper and media outlet should have immediately re-published or shown the cartoons in solidarity with the cartoonists. Why the cowardly and appeasing response of many Western governments--including our own--will only invite further aggression. Other panelists will present their own views.

    Op-Eds: The following editorials were released by the Ayn Rand Institute in response to the worldwide reaction to the Danish cartoons. Feel free to publish or quote from them:

    Religious Terrorism vs. Free Speech
    Muslim death threats against Danish cartoonists echo Khomeini's 1989 fatwa on Salman Rushdie--a death threat renewed this month by Iran's mullahs. Combating such religious terrorism is a moral necessity. Here

    Hollywood Narcissim

    G-d bless Ben Stein;

    Now for a few humble thoughts about the Oscars.

    I did not see every second of it, but my wife did, and she joins me in noting that there was not one word of tribute, not one breath, to our fighting men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan or to their families or their widows or orphans. There were pitifully dishonest calls for peace -- as if the people we are fighting were interested in any peace for us but the peace of the grave. But not one word for the hundreds of thousands who have served and are serving, not one prayer or moment of silence for the dead and maimed.

    Basically, the sad truth is that Hollywood does not think of itself as part of America, and so, to Hollywood, the war to save freedom from Islamic terrorists is happening to someone else. It does not concern them except insofar as it offers occasion to mock or criticize George Bush. They live in dreamland and cannot be gracious enough to thank the men and women who pay with their lives for the stars' ability to live in dreamland. This is shameful.

    The idea that it is brave to stand up for gays in Hollywood, to stand up against Joe McCarthy in Hollywood (fifty years after his death), to say that rich white people are bad, that oil companies are evil -- this is nonsense. All of these are mainstream ideas in Hollywood, always have been, always will be. For the people who made movies denouncing Big Oil, worshiping gays, mocking the rich to think of themselves as brave -- this is pathetic, childish narcissism.

    The brave guy in Hollywood will be the one who says that this is a fabulously great country where we treat gays, blacks, and everyone else as equal. The courageous writer in Hollywood will be the one who says the oil companies do their best in a very hostile world to bring us energy cheaply and efficiently and with a minimum of corruption. The producer who really has guts will be the one who says that Wall Street, despite its flaws, has done the best job of democratizing wealth ever in the history of mankind.

    No doubt the men and women who came to the Oscars in gowns that cost more than an Army Sergeant makes in a year, in limousines with champagne in the back seat, think they are working class heroes to attack America -- which has made it all possible for them. They are not. They would be heroes if they said that Moslem extremists are the worst threat to human decency since Hitler and Stalin. But someone might yell at them or even attack them with a knife if they said that, so they never will.

    Hollywood is above all about self: self-congratulation, self-promotion, and above all, self-protection. This is human and basic, but let's not kid ourselves. There is no greatness there in the Kodak theater. The greatness is on patrol in Kirkuk. The greatness lies unable to sleep worrying about her man in Mosul. The greatness sleeps at Arlington National Cemetery and lies waiting for death in VA Hospitals. God help us that we have sunk so low as to confuse foolish and petty boasting with the real courage that keeps this nation and the many fools in it alive and flourishing on national TV. and it gets better. You go girl, I am right there. And while no surprise, Oscar ratings dropped 10% over 2005. This year's ceremony will likely be the second least-watched Oscars telecast behind 2003, when "Chicago." won best picture.

    French Jewish leaders slam weekend assaults on Jews

    France_fine_1

    The Paris Consistory, the main Jewish religious body in the capital, said the attacks in which three young Jews were beaten up and insulted were part of a spiral of violence that must be stopped immediately.

    Police said attackers broke the nose of a rabbi's son and stole a mobile phone from his friend in the first attack on Friday evening. On Saturday evening, another Jew suffered a dislocated shoulder when four youths assaulted him.

    A shocking murder last month stoked fears that anti-Semitism was again on the rise in France, which saw a wave of attacks on Jews and their property earlier this decade.

    More on Halimi Murder  here

    ...In the days since the dying Halimi was discovered, some journalists have been making ugly discoveries. The gang of thugs (they called themselves "the Barbarians") had sequestered the young man in an apartment that had been rented by the doorman of the building. The doorman knew what had been happening but did nothing. Many other residents in the building had heard a man screaming, but had decided to mind their own business instead of calling for help, even anonymously. "When you live here, you think about yourself and only about yourself," one of them said.

    The screams must have been loud because the torture was especially atrocious: the thugs cut bits off the flesh of the young man, they cut his fingers and ears, they burned him with acid, and in the end poured flammable liquid on him and set him on fire.

    The New York waste of Times Mudslings Wal-Mart

    Talk about the pot calling the kettle out. The New York Slime Times, mouthpiece for the Democratic Party, did a puffy piece on Wal-Mart sending press releases to bloggers - article in the New York Times. The Instapundit explains press releases here.

    I have been very vocal in my support of Wal-Mart. Unprompted. Unsolicited here and here.
    Sam Walton was the quintessential Horatio Alger story and Wal-Mart is a great American institution.

    Just so that we are clear, I take nothing, nada from any group, company, political party -- I am an unpaid blogger. My opinions are my own. Blog readers, newspaper readers, online news readers consider their sources.You know who is credible and who isn't. If anybody's cred should be seriously questioned it ought to be the Times.

    The Times is attempting to discredit both the blogs and Wal-Mart with one bullet. Part of the left's ongoing campaign to bring Wal-Mart down.

    Walmart_2_1 The anti Wal-mart movements are evil in nature. Big union backed, this represents the tendency to move toward dictatorship policy and collectivism, and away from freedom. The Wal-Mart movement is a political fraud, Wal-mart has saved towns (all the way back to Bentonville, Arkansas).

    In a fully free economy, all development is controlled by individuals.
    An economy of abundance works. Not an economy of scarcity.......this assault on Wal-Mart must end.

    Wal-Mart pays above minimum wage, has an excellent pay plan, always promotes from within and has an excellent benefits package. And WTF is wrong with the lowest prices in town?

    Wal-Mart makes it possible for lower wage earners to purchase items the could never afford at regular store prices. Wal-mart enhances the quality of life for ALL AMERICANS.

    These limo libs (and their propaganda moles at The Times) speak for who? Not for average hard working joes and janes. The libs don't shop at Wal-Mart, believe me. They speak for the little guy? HA! The little guy needs Wal-Mart.

    In Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged the productive, inventive minds of the world are constantly belittled and attacked by the envious and agenda-driven in a society whose squeaky wheel gets the most grease. Sound familiar? R. Galloway

    UPDATE: WaPo weighs in and surprisingly we are very much in sync on this here;

    "I get a ton of email from a bunch of different sources. If I run a post specifically using information contained within an email, I will say so (you can see numerous instances of this being the case). Likewise, if I quote somebody or something, it's in a quote box. That's how blogs work (apparently, he didn't understand that). . . .

    "Notice the part in question is in a . . . quote box. That means that I didn't write it. As for who sent it, I don't recall. . . . I knew that Michael Barbaro was going to write this piece of dung called a news article. I was reluctant to even talk to him, given the history of the NYTs and blogs/bloggers. I see I was correct in my reluctance. Never again, brother."

    On the other hand, Pickrell, who attributed one item from a Wal-Mart flack to a "reader," was quoted by the Times as saying: "I probably cut and paste a little bit and I should not have."

    Bob Beller at Crazy Politico's Rantings was also involved:

    "When the article was in the works I pointed out to Mr. Barbaro that just like newspaper sources, Wal-Mart was going to a place they felt they'd get a sympathetic ear. . . . The WalMartWatch.Com folks didn't send the info the Washington Times because it probably wasn't going to be sympathetic to their cause.

    d'oh

    "The portion of my story that didn't make it into print, and I feel is relevant, is that though I shop at Wal-Mart regularly, I don't blog about them because I agree with them on everything. I blog about them because I disagree with groups like Wal-Mart Watch, and the unions who fund them. I don't think the mainstream media, in any form, has taken to exposing who's behind them as hard as they should."

    I strongly recommend you read the whole thing, particularly for CEO Richard Edelman's take on the blogs. This Washington Post article is the piece the New York Slimes Times should have written.

    Sharansky: Political Freedom

    Teaching political freedom to peoples that have never tasted it, who only know the power of fear, is an enormous challenge. But what is the alternative?

    Natan Sharansky would know;

    Over the previous decade, Palestinian society had become one of the most poisoned and fanatical on Earth. Day after day, on television and radio, in newspapers and schools, a generation of Palestinians had been subjected to the most vicious incitement by their own leaders. The only "right" that seemed to be upheld within Palestinian areas was the right of everyone to bear arms.

    In such conditions of fear, intimidation and indoctrination, holding snap elections would have been an act of the utmost irresponsibility. That is why I proposed a plan calling for elections to be held no earlier than three years after the implementation of a series of democratic reforms. Three years, I believed, was the absolute minimum for democratic reforms to begin to change the atmosphere in which free elections could be held. Unfortunately, the plan was never implemented.

    The recent election of Hamas is the fruit of a policy that focused on the form of democracy (elections) rather than its substance (building and protecting a free society). Rather than push for quick elections, the democratic world must use its considerable moral, political and economic leverage to help build free societies in the Middle East. We should tie trade privileges to economic freedoms, encourage foreign diplomats to meet openly with dissidents and link aid to the protection of dissents (as Bush did when he helped force the release of Egyptian democracy advocate Saad Eddin Ibrahim).

    Any regime, elected or not, that works to build a free society should be seen as a partner, if not a friend. Likewise, any regime, elected or not, that chokes freedom should be seen as an adversary, if not an enemy. Obviously, any regime that supports terrorism is hostile to the most fundamental principles of a free society and should therefore be treated as an enemy.

    Helping democracy take root in the Arab world will take time and persistence. Most Arab governments will try to stamp out any spark of liberty. But the democrats within these societies are our partners. We can help them by refusing to support those who repress them, and by making clear through both our statements and our policies that the efforts to expand freedom within their societies will benefit their countries as much as ours. The alternative is to return to the pre-9/11 delusion that a tyrant's repression of his own subjects has no consequences for us.

    For any nation, no matter how underdeveloped, if it establishes a political system that protects individual rights, its progress and development will be phenomenal. The best in all men work to raise that society and to contribute to the progress of all -- not by self-sacrifice but by plain rational self-interest. Capitalism, as history shows, raises the general standard of living, and men of all levels of ability are rewarded and get much more than they could under any form of statism or tribal rule. --Ayn Rand

    If you want to help, teach them the theory of freedom.

      If people who have lived for centuries under violence discover that they can exercise their ingenuity and create something , and that their rulers will protect them rather than forbid production or expropriate what they produce, you'd be amazed what productive talent would suddenly arise.

    At the start of the Industrial Revolution, most nations were pretty primitive-- perhaps not as underdeveloped as Africa, but they were savages in the Middle Ages compared to what we are today. -- Ayn Rand

    New Footage of Bushehr Nuclear Facility in Iran

    Iran_nuclear_facility

    Police escorts with my return shuttle buses from the Convention Center, more than once I might add . I wonder if there was a threat made. I also noticed the bus driver(s )would take different routes. And if is a fairly straight forward trip .....just down the street basically. Wild.

    Too frantic and I am traveling but some salient points. Cheney at AIPAC today. Amazing.
    I wish the man could run in 2008. He pulled no punches. He threatened Iran with "meaningful consequences" if it failed to cooperate..

    We are dealing with enemies who plot and plan in secret, then attempt to slip into a country, blend in among the innocent and kill without mercy.

    With each attack, the terrorists grew more confident and believing they could strike America without paying a price, and indeed believing that if they killed enough Americans they could change American policy. So they continued to wage those attacks, making the world less safe and eventually striking the United States in our homeland on September 11th. And we've seen the work of terrorists in many attacks since 9/11 in Jerusalem, Riyadh, Casablanca, Istanbul, Karachi, Mombasa, Bali, Jakarta, Najaf, Baghdad, London and Madrid. The terrorists have declared war on the civilized world, and America will lead the civilized world to victory.

    On Iran:

    "For our part, the United States is keeping all options on the table in addressing the irresponsible conduct of the regime,"

    "And we join other nations in sending that regime a clear message: We will not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon."

    Meanwhile, the White House said it expects the Security Council to move against Iran unequivocally. Will have more later on this. I did love this line;

    We have a strategy of our own in this fight.

    Yesterday's program kicked with Mark Warner  lovely guy, uninspiring.

    But it was Newt Gingrich, in my mind, that gave the great  Churchillian speech. He's really brilliant. The man  gave the most succinct, specific, outline of world affairs and what we must  do about it,  "without a note" as one fellow passerby mentioned. Not one index card. Nothing. No prepared remarks, no written talking points. He spoke his mind, scary smart mind. He ought to run in 2008, I'd get behind that ticket.

    "it's not about psychology when someone cuts somebody's head off on television"Newt_gingrich_atlas_2_3
    it's murder

    Hamas "we will never have peace until we have defeated the agents of terror"

    Iran: "anti-human, anti American regime.

    "Do you really think if Iran  got nuclear weapons they wouldn't try to smuggle them in [to this country]"

    Ever hear of "rent a truck"

    Newt rocked the house. Like the bloggers on the right, he cites every jihadi act of violence waged against the West by the Radical Extremists as part of their larger deliberate campaign of war and terror.These are not isolated, random, acts of violence - these are battles, these are  acts of war. The Cartoon jihad (how did all those little stores across the world come to stock Danish flags?), Iran, Hamas, Hizbollah, Iraq.

    I feel better knowing that there is a group of seriously smart people that are all over this thing as opposed to those on the left who are constantly whining about "fear mongering."

    Mark Warner insisted Israel is a not a  partisan issue.  I wish it would be so. But it's troubling that the percent of those in the Democratic party that staunchly support Israel is 34% vs. the Republican  party's 67%

    Speaking of Churchill

    WINSTON CHURCHILL ON ISLAM - SPEECH IN 1899:

    "How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.

    The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

    A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedans law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

    Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

    No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytising faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled,the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome."

    "Small is the New Big"

    Great Podhoretz piece in today's New York Post on the Instapundit,

    It's only March, but I can guarantee you there won't be a more exciting or inspiring book published this year than "An Army of Davids." Glenn Reynolds, its author, is Army_of_davids_1 best known for the Web log called Instapundit, but he is also a musician, the creator of a record label, a law professor, an expert on space (he drafted a position paper on the matter for Al Gore's 1988 campaign) and an unpublished novelist.

    "An Army of Davids" is a book about how technology has freed people like Reynolds to pursue their interests in ways that would have been unthinkable 30 years ago. For example, Reynolds can record, mix and complete an album in his basement with a $1,500 computer and software written in Poland - a process once restricted to those with access to multimillion-dollar studios.

    n the realm of ideas, entrepreneurs like Reynolds have also pointed the way with Web logs whose daily traffic is larger and whose audiences are more passionate than is the case with many major metropolitan newspapers.

    All of this represents a revolutionary power shift. "Small is the new big," Reynolds says. But more interesting, in light of the present political moment, is his description of how power and authority are following a new pattern.

    For hundreds of years, power was distributed vertically - from the top down, in a hierarchical pattern. Now that structure is giving way to a horizontal system, in which information travels freely from peer to peer.

    The rise of the Internet offers Reynolds his greatest example. Ten years ago, if you had organized a conference meant to devise a plan to make information available on the Internet, the end result would have been for people to throw up their hands in despair: There's too much recorded history, too much material, no way to digitize it all.

    But because there was no central plan to gum up the works, the amount of information now available through a free search has democratized the ultimate elite advantage - specialized knowledge. Doctors, lawyers and real-estate brokers no longer hold a monopoly when it comes to the details of their professions.

    "People used to be ignorant," Reynolds writes. "It was hard to learn things. You had to go to libraries, look things up, perhaps sit and wait until a book was fetched from storage, or recalled from another user, or borrowed from a different library . . . Things are different today. I'm writing this in a bar right now, and I have most of human knowledge at my fingertips."

    That human knowledge was placed on the Internet by millions of people, mostly doing so because they chose to, for no recompense other than to stimulate others to provide similar information in fields that obsessed them.

    Indeed.

    Read it all............ the book too.

    The Radical Politics of Islamic Fundamentalism

    The Radical Politics of Islamic Fundamentalism - Daniel Jonah Goldhagen
    (New Republic)

    • Political Islam is now fully on the offensive. We are witnessing a new multipronged, intercontinental intifada. A Sunni Muslim cleric, having helped organize anti-cartoon protests in Beirut, explained the protests' significance: "The war [with the West] has already started."
    • In Gaza, demonstrators demanded the hands of cartoonists be cut off, and an imam at the Omari Mosque declared, "We will not accept less than severing the heads of those responsible." This is not normal politics. This is not even the normal excess of normal politics.
    • Some will want to believe that Hamas will tame itself now that it faces the responsibility of governing. Hamas, under crippling diplomatic and financial pressure, is seeking to do the minimum necessary to get the willfully gullible in the West to sign onto its political legitimacy.
    • By identifying political Islam (not Islam itself but a political Islamic movement with a coherent and distinctive political ideology and goals), we emphatically do not implicate all Muslims or all Islam. The phenomenon includes only Islamic-grounded political regimes and organizations that share a common ideological foundation about Islam's political primacy or its need to systematically roll back the West. Therein, political Islam resembles the international communist movement in its heyday.
    • Political Islam is totalitarian, aggressive, conquering, cocksure about its superiority and destiny to rule, intolerant, bristling with resentment, and only tenuously in touch with aspects of reality. What marks it most distinctively are its religious consecration of its tenets, emotions, and goals, which are putatively grounded in Allah's will and to which slavish (indeed literally mindless) devotion is due; and its cult of death, which produces its extreme danger.
    • The Iranian and Palestinian elected leaderships' support for the destruction of Israel shows that Israel's conduct is simply not the issue for political Islam. Its hostility to Israel is not, and never was, based on Israel's policies. It is Israel's - and an independent Jewish community's - existence in the Middle East that political Islam wishes to obliterate.

    Here in the States,  an insiduous jihad. Although now the Saudis claim bin Laden is their enemy, many of them continue to follow his agenda.

    "We do not use the term 'economic jihad' as a mere motto or a resounding slogan with no action. Rather, we mean by it a practical jihad that requires action to turn it into an effective and concrete reality. The aim behind that is to benefit all Muslims and to challenge the aggression staged by the U.S. and Jews against Islam and Muslims."

    So said Religious and ideological support has been also provided by Hussein Shihata, a leading Sunni scholar of Islamic Economy at Cairo's al-Azhar University.

    Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who claims to abhor bin Laden, seems nevertheless eager to follow his agenda. In an interview with Arab News in May 2002, the prince said that if the Arabs

    "unite through economic interests," they would achieve influence over the U.S. decision-makers. Since government sources estimate Saudi holdings in the United States at $400 billion to $800 billion, the matter warrants public attention.

    The Saudi agenda extends far beyond policy-makers. In the late 1990s, the privately owned Massachusetts technology company, Ptech, designed software used to develop enterprise blueprints that held every important detail of a given concern. The company was financed with more than $22 million, by Saudi multi-millionaire Yasin al Qadi, a Specially Designated Global Terrorist. The Saudis thus gained access to strategic information about many major U.S. corporations such as SYSCO, ENRON, and the U.S. Departments of Defense, Treasury, Justice, Energy, and even the White House. The extent of the damage, if it was investigated, remains a mystery.

    Meanwhile, substantial Saudi and Gulf financial contributions "to bring the proper message to America's brightest minds," are pouring into U.S. educational institutions through Arab and Islamic centers and professorial chairs. Last month the prince gave $20 million each to Georgetown and Harvard universities. According to the Center for Religious Freedom, the Saudis also supply textbooks for public libraries, schools and colleges, and provide the content concerning Islam to some U.S. textbook publishers.

    The Saudis' potential influence on U.S. and international media was recently illustrated by the prince's purchase of 5.6 percent of voting shares in News Corp., the world's largest publisher of English newspapers. Moreover, Reuters reported on Dec. 5 that the prince announced his plan to "spread the right message" via a new television channel, "The Message," to broadcast to the U.S. within two years.

    Fighting the Fight on All Fronts

    Wrong Mother, Muthuh F**KUH

    Tom Manzi,  G-d bless you

    A grieving mother of a soldier killed in Iraq wants to voice her opinion. She has a message about the war in Iraq and feels the American people need to hear what she has to say.

    Chavez_sheehan_3_1 Her name is Merrilee Carlson and her story is compelling and newsworthy. Unlike another mother of a fallen soldier, Carlson is not a household name. Her message is exactly opposite of the over-exposed message of the well-known protesting mom.

    Carlson began trying to get her message out last August and September. She didn’t like what was coming out of Crawford and felt the need to correct the record.

    In the last couple of weeks the organization that Carlson chairs, Minnesota Families United, has been in the center of a controversy that, by any objective reasoning, should have made national news.

    Minnesota Families United teamed with Progress for America Voter Fund and produced two television spots. Minnesota was used as a test market for the spots and PFA made a rather large statewide television buy. The ABC affiliate in the Twin Cities market, KSTP, refused to air the spots.

    This is shameless disgusting story. Verifying the obvious left wing agenda of the mainstream media.
    Complicit silence on a fallen soldiers ma. Bless her soul.

    The decision not to air the first MFU commercial was made by Rob Hubbard, General Manager. His objection was over two lines in the spot:

    1) The media only reports the bad news, but American troops are making real progress
    2) You would never know it from the news reports, but our enemy in Iraq is Al Qaeda.

    The news hook gets better.

    On Thursday, February 16th, the Chair of the Democrat Party in Minnesota called on all TV stations to pull the ad. The top Democrats in Minnesota want to suppress the message of Carlson’s group.

    Merrilee Carlson was born and raised a Democrat. She doesn’t like politics and sheChavez_sheehan_1 wants to make it clear that her group is non-political. So, the Democrats in Minnesota are trying to suppress the message from mainstream families who have suffered the loss of their children from the war in Iraq. Why is this not news?

    That other mom was a full-time, anti-war protester for more than a year before she came up with the PR stunt to go to Crawford during the president’s vacation. The media accepted the stunt and gave her message enormous coverage. This prompted Carlson to take action for her message. Now Carlson is in the middle of legitimate news and the media is silent.

    Have we come to the point where it takes a stunt to make news?

    NO...........we have to come to the point Mr. Manzi, if you are not a traitor you are not part of the desired message. Bah dah bing, bah dah boom.

    'A Beacon of Liberty'

    'A Beacon of Liberty'
    New York Sun Editorial

    No word yet on whether Senator Kerry attended a speech to a joint session of Congress yesterday by the Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, but we hope he did because Mr. Berlusconi delivered a majestic address. Mr. Berlusconi reminded the solons that his countryNewyork_skyline
    and ours today share a love for liberty in large part because America set Italians free from the grip of the Fascists and then kept the country from falling under the thumb of the Soviet Union. "When I see your flag" Mr. Berlusconi said, "I do not merely see the flag of a great country: above all, I see a symbol, a universal symbol of democracy and freedom."

    Mr. Berlusconi told a story, "of a young man, one who had just graduated from high school. His father took him to a cemetery that was the final resting place for brave young soldiers - young people who had crossed an ocean to restore dignity and liberty to an oppressed people. In showing him those crosses, that father made him vow never to forget the ultimate sacrifice those young American soldiers had made for his freedom. That father made his son vow eternal gratitude to that country." Mr. Berlusconi was the young man.

    President Bush is derided by those who claim that his single-mindedness in pursuit of freedom costs America friends. In his acceptance speech at the 2004 Democratic convention, Mr. Kerry warned that "Strength is more than tough words.... We need to make America once again a beacon in the world. We need to be looked up to and not just feared." Mr. Berlusconi's remarks suggest, however, that America achieved that goal in the past by aggressively expanding the reach of freedom, just as Mr. Bush does today. "For my generation of Italians, the United States is a beacon of liberty, of civil and economic progress," Mr. Berlusconi told Congress. As, so many Americans hope, our country will be for the next generation of Afghanis and Iraqis.

    Excellent. He gets it. But over here at the Carnivl of the Clueless, it's  a whole other ballgame.

    The Pope was shot while riding in an open carAn Italian parliamentary commission has concluded that the former Soviet Union was behind the 1981 assassination attempt on the late Pope John Paul II.Pope_shot_in_open_car

    The head of the commission, Paolo Guzzanti, said it was sure beyond "reasonable doubt" that Soviet leaders ordered the shooting.

    Turkish national Mehmet Ali Agca, now 48, shot the Pope in St Peter's Square on 13 May 1981, hitting him four times.

    Agca never gave a motive, and mystery has continued to surround the shooting.

    A link between Agca and Bulgarian agents, and through them to the Soviet Union's KGB, has been the subject of speculation over the years.

    And it was an Islamic shooter, the Soviets in league with Radical Extremism. SHOCKA! Nyet.

    Rohde says that the 12 cartoonists have had their lives overturned and are now living in hiding, after receiving several death threats.

    DOHA: Denmark has officially apologised to Saudi Arabia on the issue of the 12Mohammad_cartoon_rage_1 blasphemous cartoons of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) published by a Danish newspaper last September, according to Arabic web portal Ilaf based in London.

    Danish ambassador to Saudi Arabia Hans Klingenberg tendered his government’s apology to Muslims over the publication of the blasphemous cartoons in the Danish daily Jyllands-Posten.

    The 12 cartoons were later reprinted in over 100 European magazines and newspapers, inviting the wrath and anger of Muslims all over the world.

    The cartoons led to a boycott of Danish products in Muslim countries, including Qatar, and agitations in many countries had turned violent.

    Cartoon_violence_2_2 Denmark’s apology came during a meeting with Saudi Consultative Council Chairman Salih bin Homaid who received the Danish ambassador in the Saudi capital in Riyadh, the Saudi Press Agency has reported.

    The Danish ambassador said his country’s government and people denou-nced the insult to Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

    The latest move by the Danish government comes in the wake of Saudi Arabia’s request to the Danish government to give a satisfactory explanation about the delay in solving the cartoon crisis.

    Huh? I will not rally for Denmark if they caved....uh uh, no way.

    UPDATE: Agora says. NO WAY, the Danes did not cave, here, clearly developing story;

    Ambassador denies apologising for Cartoons

    The Danish Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Hans Klingenberg, denies having apologised for the Muhammed cartoons on behalf of the Danish government. The Saudi News Service, SPA, mistakenly reported this earlier today.

    The article then goes into blah blag mode. I’ll translate it later when I have posted this. Here comes the interesting part:

    He says that SPA’s report of the events does not match what he saw and that he would be a poor diplomat if he did not know of and report the Danish position on the cartoons.

    "I deny having apologised on behalf of the Danish government, and I should know, shouldn’t I?" he says.

    Yes, indeed, he ought to know

    Port Security: "franks for the Defense"

    It's like I said, it's like Tommy Franks said to Tony Snow, and it'w hat I've contended all along here and here;

    Franks for the Defense

    Former General Tommy Franks, who led the successful ouster of the Taliban from power in Afghanistan and Saddam Hussein in Iraq, has some thoughts on the port controversy swirling around the United Arab Emirates.

    He told Fox News' Tony Snow this week that while the UAE may have had a spotty record on terrorism before 9/11, the Arab confederation has since become a valued ally. "I believe it's ludicrous and disingenuous for us to look at activities inside the United Arab Emirates and say that, just because one, two, or three hijackers, at some point in time, lived in the Emirates that we should hold that government responsible (for 9/11)," he said.

    He went on to detail for the first time some of the cooperation he got from UAE leaders. "One of their officials personally handed me the grid coordinates and provided maps of Taliban-related sites," he said. "They set the foundation for what followed by giving us unprecedented access to their intelligence." Mr. Franks can't speak to complaints that the UAE continues to deny diplomatic recognition to Israel because "I'm not a diplomat, thank goodness" but insisted it would be counterproductive for the U.S. to scapegoat a country that became the first in the Middle East to allow inspection of containers bound for the U.S. at its ports. U.S. Urges UAE to End Boycott of Israel -
    The Bush administration said Wednesday it is pressing the United Arab Emirates to drop its economic boycott of Israel - a major sticking point in the proposed takeover of key U.S. ports by a UAE-owned firm. Iran At War with America Right Now In Iraq

    The Black Hand of Iran and it's continuing war against America - Big Satan, Israel - little Satan, and the West rolls (roils) along. Iran wants us out of Iraq, Afghanistan - hell off the planet would be good too. They may have the left in America on their side but who wants those losers in your corner? Would you even want those guys at your back?

    Iran Focus The deputy governor of the Iraqi province of Saladin, where the holyAhmadinejad_iran_black_hand city of Samarra is situated, said preliminary investigation was pointing to Iran’s role in the bombing of the city’s revered Shiite shrine last week.

    “The investigations carried out so far about the explosion in the resting place of Imam al-Hadi and Imam Hassan al-Askari in Samarra point to the involvement of the Iranian regime’s Intelligence Ministry”, Abdullah Hossein Jabbara announced. He was referring to Iran’s secret police, the Ministry of Intelligence and Security, which is known to be actively operating in Iraq

    Further proof, Iraq is very much a part of the global war on terror with the axis of evil outlined in the Bush Doctrine. It is because of the ongoing successes of the American liberation of Iraq that Iran, al qaida, are stoking the violence, and escalating the terror. Painfully clear to me that the Iranian sponsored terror in Iraq is very much a part of the global war on terror.

    The wonder of our accomplishments in tandem with our accomplishments in Afghanistan are very much the reason Iran has undertaken a campaign of terror, fear,  and propaganda in that country in an attempt  to return it to the dark ages here and here. here.

    This is not a sugarcoat. Expect a great deal more bloodshed, infighting, foreign fighters and outside influences to plague Iraq for the foreseeable future. That does not mean failure. Our objectives are noble. And what would be the alternative? There is no alternative.

    Atlas readers were on to this months ago here dring the disengagement, so who knows how deeper al qaeda has infiltrated into Hamastan. Considering 65% of Palestinian Arabs support A-Qaeda in the US, this continuing development is a natural. Dangerous for the Palis though, sleep with maggots - wake up eaten alive;

    Palestinians Catch al-qaida Operative

    A senior Palestinian source revealed on Thursday that Palestinian security forces located several operatives spreading al-Qaida ideology. The troops arrested one such extremist in Gaza.

    Earlier in the day, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas told the Arab daily el-Hayat that he had proof that al-Qaida cells have infiltrated, and are operating in the West Bank and Gaza." I am very concerned about this," said Abbas.

    "If they succeeded in infiltrating in such a way, and if no one watches over them, the result could be disastrous for the entire region. The last piece of information I received on the subject was three days ago, but we still have not been able to lay our hands on the operatives," he said.

    A Hamas spokesman responded to Abbas's claim by saying that his organization has no intelligence information regarding al-Qaida cells in the West Bank or Gaza.

    "If the things Abu Mazen (Abbas) said are true, then the matter must be handled immediately," he said.

    Only last week OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Yair Naveh revealed that global Jihad and al-Qaida cells based in Jordan have stepped up their attempts to infiltrate Israel and are in close contact with Palestinian terror cells based in the West Bank.

    'We recently caught several local terror cells that were in touch with the international Global Jihad based in Jordan,' Naveh told a closed meeting at the Jerusalem Center of Public Affairs. He would not say for certain that the al-Qaida camp in Jordan worked under the direction of the movement's Iraqi leader Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi, but he said 'al-Qaida was working to tighten its grip on the ground' in Jordan and Israel. hat tip Earl

    The Media's latest Production: The Katrina Rewrite

    Who is editing the manistrream media news nowadays - George Clooney? The latest media swoon uh I mean swarm is all over that video released by AP of pre-Katrina briefings, using just little snips that pieced together appear to make  the President more knowledgeable of what was ahead

    But the  LA Times today admits that the AP selectively edited the video. MONEY QUOTE:

    “The AP video does not include footage of Chertoff asking Brown whether he needs any other help or of Chertoff asking whether Brown wants him to approach the Department of Defense. Transcripts show that to both questions, Brown indicated that no additional assistance was needed.”

    Also, Newsbusters points out the sharp and telling difference between the levees being onlyNetwork_mad_as_hell “topped” – which was widely discussed before Katrina – and the levee breach 24 hours after the storm: Go over to Newsbusters, they have the dirty lowdown here.

    Wake up people, you are being seriously played with. Stand up and say;

    "I am Mad as Hell and I am Not Going to Take it Anymore!"

    Bottom line on Katrina, the state and local governments failed their people miserably. Miserably. At no time in our nation's history have first responders failed to act so completely. Blame the Feds all you want, but they are the back up boys. They made mistakes, but considering what and who they were dealing with, it would have been impossible to do otherwise.

    IMUS: Are you all right David?

    GREGORY: India is a wonderful language and i've been learning, where's my little sheet here. I've been learning some new phrases to come home. But any way, that being one of them and i just think it's nice.

    GREGORY: Big deal between India and the United States. The upshot is we're going to provide nuclear know-how and fuel to india which they need for their economy to grow. But since they never signed the nonproliferation treaty it's a real turn around and critics worry that it sends the wrong message to other parts of the world.

    IMUS: Ok.

    GREGORY: I would add, i would add that this is how you say thank you.

    IMUS: What is it again?

    The experts say (that's what the MSM is calling them)-- we must give them NUKES, withdraw  WTO sanctions. Pay the extortion, give up the jizz;

    With all other options failing, the United States should consider offering Iran incentives to try and find a way out of the current impasse over its nuclear program, experts say.

    Do they now? They'll be the first ones on the chopping block.

    They argue that a debate at the UN Security Council on the Iran crisis is unlikely to lead to effective sanctions and say that a Russian proposal to end the standoff also appears doomed.

    Enforced sanctions would work as long as it wasn't a corrupt oil-for-food tainted UN enforcing them.

    "The trouble is that all of the steps that have been taken so far don't seem likely to produce an acceptable outcome," Gareth Evans, Australia's former foreign minister and current head of the Brussels-based International Crisis Group (ICG), an independent think tank, said.

    spineless

    Evans was in Washington Monday to discuss recommendations by the ICG on ways to end the dilemma with Iran.

    He said that given the current state of affairs, the only realistic remaining diplomatic option for the United States and its European allies is to offer Iran "delayed limited enrichment" along with a number of incentives.

    "Those incentives amount to basically withdrawal of all of the existing sanctions, diplomatic normalization, overt support for WTO (World Trade Organization) accession and of course security guarantees," he said.

    As to "limited enrichment", Evans said that would entail the West taking a "deep breath" and recognizing that Iran has the right to enrich uranium domestically to produce nuclear energy.

    Give them NUKES, thats the ticket (straight to hell)

    Richard  at Augean Stables has an insightful, in depth analysis of Eurabia's willing dhimmitude and embrace of all things anti-Jew aka anti-Israel and to all those who say they are not the same thing, you are full of shit. Hatred of Israel is a modern argument to an age old hate (but that for another day). Richard writes here ;

    Consider three strange aspects of the European attitude towards Israel.

  • They eagerly seize on any reports that the Israelis have killed Palestinian civilians — Sabra and Shatilla, Muhammad al Durah, Jenin. One could even get a sense that for them this is a way of dealing with guilt over their role — active or passive — in the Holocaust. The Jews are no better than we were (and no longer are).
  • They do everything they can to get Israel to react violently. They denounce any and every Israeli response to attacks as “excess use of force”, a tendency most visible in the assault on the Israeli separation barrier which gave immediate results in terms of reduction of suicide terrorism. It is as if they want to tie the Israelis hands behind their back and prevent them from defending themselves so that at some point, driven mad by the attacks, they’ll lash out and massacre Palestinians.
  • They systematically underplay how vicious the Palestinians violence against Israel. For people who agonize over every dead innocent Palestinian — whether they’ve actually been killed or not, whether if the Israelis did kill them, they did it on purpose or not — the Europeans show remarkable understanding that Palestinians intentionally kill Israeli civilians.
  • It's a must read...........

    All of these traits, taken to the extremes that the French do, suggest that the way the French (and by extension, the Europeans who follow their lead in these matters) want to handle their guilt over the Holocaust is to point the finger at Israel and say, “you’re no better than we are… no, wait, latest news coming in suggests you’re worse than we are. You’re as bad as the Nazis.” As one commentator put it in the wake of Talal abu Rahma’s staged footage of Muhammad al Durah: “Al Durah’s picture erases, obliterates, the one of the boy in the ghetto.” We don’t have to feel guilty about you Jews, and if we do, we don’t have to feel we have a debt to you Jews, because you’re not innocent.

    Read it all.........

    U.N.: Israel, West may cause Palestinian financial crisis
    USA Today
    The United Nations warned Tuesday that Israel and the West could unleash a crisis in Palestinian territories by withholding hundreds of millions of dollars in aid and transfers. The cutoff could bring the Palestinian government to the brink of collapse by limiting its ability to provide basic services.

    uh..........A terrorist gang of thugs whose mission it is  to annihilate a people by driving their country into the sea "may cause Palestinian financial crisis". Do they really expect the very people they intend to murder to keep them support them and keep them afloat?

    USA Today --guilty of moral inversion and taking their talking points from the corrupt, thieving, sexual abuse enabling, criminal UN? Pinch me, I want to wake up in the parallel, rational universe.

    And as for this latest report;

    IMRA: MENL: U.S. EASES POLICY ON HAMAS
    WASHINGTON--The Bush administration has significantly eased its opposition to Hamas and no longer sees the Islamic movement as an intractable obstacle to an Israeli-Palestinian peace settlement.

    it was never about "the Islamic movement" it was always about the destruction of Israel- Atlas

    Officials said the administration has agreed to an international effort to help a Palestinian government controlled by Hamas. They said the administration has set guidelines to ensure continued U.S. financial and other support to a Hamas government that accepts democratic principles and renounces violence.

    I see no change in the US position here....here is the money quote -Atlas;

    "We accept Islamist parties if Islamist parties accept the rules of the game," William Jordan, head of the State Department's North Africa bureau, said. "It's up to Hamas to decide whether to accept the rules of the game."

    Officials acknowledged that the new administration policy departed from the State Department ban on Hamas as a terrorist organization. Under federal law, the United States and its citizens are banned from supporting or engaging a group deemed terrorist.

    even Chirac told  Annan here  Hamas must recognize Israel.... and renounce violence. Tom and I don't think he means it. He just wants to  say "see, I tried. Oh well," while giving Sarkozy a run for his rhetoric.

    LGF points out New York Times boot licking here;

    Today the New York Times has another installment in their long-running series of glowing portraits of Palestinian terrorists: Hamas Member Returns From an Israeli Jail, Head Held High.

    His daughter, Hanin, 12, was in tears, burying her face in his waist; he lifted his son Basel, 5, a serious boy in a crew cut who stared around him. He hugged his wife, Fadia, brushing his lips along the embroidered brown scarf that covered her hair.

    Yup, it's that bad.

    Iraqi WMD Mystery Solved

    JAMIE GLAZOV: IRAQI WMD MYSTERY SOLVED - Read this interview N-O-W

    Ryan Mauro, who spoke at the recent 2006 International Intelligence Summit on Iraq. He is the 19-year old author of  Death to America: The Unreported Battle of Iraq and founder of WorldThreats.com. He was originally hired at age 16 as a geopolitical analyst for Tactical Defense Concepts. He is also a volunteer analyst and researcher for the Northeast Intelligence Network and the Reform Party of Syria and believed to be the youngest hired geopolitical analyst in the country.

    Wmd_5

    Mauro: The tapes are extremely significant in that they prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that as of the year 2000, Saddam Hussein had a secret plasma program to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons, or "special bombs" as he calls them. The Duelfer Report previously concluded that this type of enrichment program ended in the 1980s, but here we have Saddam and his top advisors discussing using a power plant in the area of Basra for the program.  The scientists involved in the program are not known to the UN, leaving Western intelligence clueless.

    On the tapes, you hear Saddam discussing the assistance of Russia and Brazil in dealing with the United Nations. He laughs off inspections, as his son-in-law who later defects, Hussein Kamil, reports how as late as 1995 their chemical and biological programs were being hidden from the world. They also discuss keeping the ingredients for these weapons separate, so that should they be found, they will be looked at as innocent dual-use items. They were not destroyed in 1991 as the Duelfer Report concludes. There are even indications on the tapes that Iraq may have had a role in the 2001 anthrax attacks.

    My book was the first to make the claim that Russia was involved in moving Iraq's WMDs to Syria. After all the nay saying and criticizing I received for it, testimony at the Summit confirmed that this was true.

    Glazov: What exactly is the evidence that Iraq moved its WMD into Syria?

    Mauro: It has been confirmed across the board that 18-wheelers were seen going into Syria before the war, crossing the border soon after Iraqi intelligence replaced the border guards and cleared nearby areas for their passage. There are also eyewitness reports of the trucks going into Syria, and eyewitness reports of their burial in Lebanon.

    The trucks with the weapons were tracked to three locations in Syria and Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, currently controlled by the Syrians, Iranians and Hezbollah. Sources I've spoken with that have seen satellite photos of the movements confirm that the WMD in Syria are at military bases, while the ones in Lebanon are buried. A fourth site in Syria, the al-Safir WMD and missile site, should also be looked at. From spring to summer 2002, there was a lot of construction here involving the expansion of underground complexes

    "More information has surfaced in recent days about Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction programs, and the possible roles of Syria and Russia in spiriting WMD and massive arsenals of conventional munitions out of Iraq prior to the start of the war three years ago. The new information includes audio recordings of 12 hours of conversations from the early 1990s through 2000 involving Saddam Hussein and his top aides, in which Saddam discusses how to conceal Iraqi weapons programs from UN inspectors and the possibility that the United States could be the target of terrorist attacks... One new piece of information revealed on the tapes...is that Saddam was actively working on a plan to enrich uranium using a technique known as plasma separation. This is particularly worrisome because of the date of the conversation: It took place in 2000, nearly five years after Iraq's nuclear programs were thought to have stopped... It is apparent that the American public has much more to learn about Moscow, Damascus and WMD and precisely when Saddam's nuclear weapons programs actually stopped." —The Washington Times

    If only, John Bolton, If only

    Not sure if Bolton is being sardonic, tongue-in-cheek and/or in-your-face in this, the money quote. Addressing Mr. al-Bashir’s resistance, Mr. Bolton said,

    “One can only hope that the government of Sudan shares the objective that its own citizens should live.”

    I live in such hope, but Bashir is an animal and if al qaeda has established a stronghold there we would have to be prepared for battle. No half assed Clintonesque Mogodishu-op here folks. Messy, very messy. Al Qaeda welcomed in the Sudan reeks of Bashir. But then he is harboring terrorists, a basic violation of the Bush Doctrine.

    OTOH,  this could be  a shrewd tactic to keep us the hell out of there. Bashir and his barbarians don't want NATO there or anyone else that might save lives. He and Kofi are just fine with the status quo, they like it like that.

    Al Qaeda Is Entrenched In Sudan, U.N. Envoy Warns

    TERRORISTS COULD ‘RETALIATE’ AGAINST FORCES, BENNY AVNI

    Secretary-General Annan’s envoy to Sudan, Jan Pronk, warned yesterday that Al Qaeda terrorists are already entrenched in Khartoum, and that if the current force composed of African Union troops in Darfur is replaced too quickly with a more robust force under the U.N.banner, Al Qaeda could “retaliate” against it.

    President Bush has suggested NATO could get involved to protect victims of genocide in Sudan. Earlier this month the Security Council backed in principle an American proposal to create a U.N. force capable of halting the atrocities against villagers in Darfur. Estimated at more than 20,000 troops, this force will replace the current 7,000-troop contingency that was sent to Sudan by the African Union.    Khartoum, however, is resisting any infringement of its sovereignty by allowing the presence of a U.N. force. “We are strongly opposed to any foreign intervention in Sudan, and Darfur will be a graveyard for any foreign troops,”President al-Bashir was quoted as saying to Sudanese newspapers, according to Al-Jazeera.

    One observer familiar with the Addis negotiation, who asked for anonymity, told The New York Sun yesterday that most of the resistance there to a U.N. force comes from the two members of the A.U.’s peace and security commission who are also members of the Arab League, Egypt, and Algeria. Qatar, which represents the Arabs on the Security Council, also has raised objections.

    American ambassador John Bolton said that along with the Sudanese government, the African Union, the Arab League, and other concerned groups, America has tried to negotiate a resolution to send a U.N. force to Darfur to try to “stop the genocide.” Addressing Mr. al-Bashir’s resistance to the idea, Mr. Bolton said,“One can only hope that the government of Sudan shares the objective that its own citizens should live.”

    A spokesman for the American U.N. mission, Ben Chang, added, “We will expect the Sudanese government, as well as the rebels, to accept and accommodate the U.N. peacekeeping force once the transition takes place.”

    But according to Mr. Pronk, there is “a lot of talk about Al Qaeda in Khartoum,” where the government is spreading conspiracy theories about foreigners trying to turn Sudan into another Iraq or Afghanistan. Sending NATO there without Security Council approval, the way the Clinton administration did in the Balkans, is a “recipe for disaster,” Mr. Pronk said.

       Citing multiple sources, Mr. Pronk told reporters there is “intelligence information that there are [Al Qaeda] people in Khartoum who have not been there before,” and that those people have issued “threats” and “letters,” warning of retaliation if the Sudanese people believe their country is invaded by the West.

       Khartoum hosted Osama bin Laden in the late ’90s, but the Sudanese government has played both sides by supplying America with some intelligence for the war on terror while continuing to raise the Al Qaeda specter as a warning to the West.

    Iraq, Zogby, Polls, GWoT, and the Truth

    Bruce asks How reliable is Zogby poll of military in Iraq? Bruce that is not the question.

    The question is how reliable is Zogby period.

    Jason over at Generation why weighs in with  Democrats Get Paralysis of Analysis

    Zogby is wildly anti-Bush, anti-Israel, anti-Republican. I have written of Zogby's bias numerous times..........what folllows are remarks from a comment thread October 16th before the Presidential election here;

    Zogby has accused Israel of abusing human rights and acting like a colonizer, similar to the "genocidal treatment of the Native Americans and enslavement of African-Americans."'

    He is a known Anti-Semite and hater of Israel.

    Zogby has a history of supporting extreme terror organizations. Zogby's anti-Semitism is well documented here;

    NEW YORK-   Pro-Arab lobbyist James Zogby, head of the Arab-American Institute, has publicly urged the Arab nations to refrain from normalizing relations with Israel--thus further shattering the myth that Zogby is "moderate" or "seeks peace with Israel".

    The web site ArabicNews.Com reports that Zogby told the Moroccan daily Al-Alam that "a drive towards normalization of relations with Israel" would be "dangerous." here

    The following is from a pre-election Zogby poll I fisked;

    His polls are always notoriously skewed;
    Bush job performance rating drops to 69%; [emphasis mine]
    Democrats take lead in  race for Congress; [another lie]
    58% say Israel should leave occupied Palestinian territories;
    83% believe Mideast bloodshed will spread to other nations,
    Zogby America Poll reveals

    Moreover, in Zogby's account, Israel pursued a policy of `ethnic cleansing,'

    more skewed Zogby results;
    Zogby poll released today indicates that Americans – by large majorities – oppose the United States militarily defending several key allies, including Taiwan, Israel and South Korea.

    James Zogby Justifies Palestinian Terrorism. "Palestinian organizations are refusing to accept U.S. foreign aid this year, rather than sign a pledge promising that the money will not be used to support terrorism." as reported in The Washington Times.

    The paper then paraphrases James Zogby of the Arab American Institute saying that this refusal by Palestinian nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) to sign the pledge "should not be seen as support for terrorism, rather that in Palestinian society it is politically expedient to reject the funds than endure the tremendous political pressure they will face for signing the pledge. Zogby continues, in his own words: "This is not clearly understood in the United States. The idea of providing no ‘material support is such a broad brush stroke, it compromises the ability of the humanitarian organizations to function." The reporter then paraphrases Zogby saying that "making Palestinian organizations judge who is and who is not a terrorist is a prescription for creating civil war in the Gaza Strip and West Bank."

    In addition James Zogby became apoplectic when President Bush nominated the eminent scholar Daniel Pipes to the board of directors of United States Institute for Peace. Mr. Pipes brilliance of is some note and matched only by Hanson.

    Zogby spit out the following:

    "Daniel Pipes has a problem - his obsessive hatred of all things Muslim," writes James Zogby of the Arab American Institute. "Pipes is to Muslims what David Duke is to African-Americans."

    BTW,this patently untrue.But these are gross and vicious libels, as anyone who reads or listens to Pipes' own words will quickly discover at his site here. His hundreds of essays on terrorism, Islam, and the Middle East have appeared in scores of publications, from the Atlantic Monthly to The Jerusalem Post to Foreign Affairs. He has written countless book reviews. He is the author or editor of 13 books, he lectures nationwide, and he is a frequent guest on news and public-affairs TV shows. In short, he has compiled a vast public record.  If he were the hater Zogby decries, it would be pretty hard to disguise.
    Daniel Pipes has been a huge supporter of moderate Muslims and believes America must support Moderate Islam in our war on Radical Islamofascism

    more Zogby quotes;

    James Zogby, the president of the Arab American Institute, said that because of the "disproportionate number of Jews," the State Department should hire more Arab Americans.

    Zogby's "extremist, anti-Israel views" disqualified him from being involved with U.S. policy in the Middle East.

    Radical organization and known supporter of terror groups, James Zogby – president, Arab American Institute.

    Zogby said that Israel's "invasion of occupied territories is seared into the Arab psyche the way the Holocaust defines 20th century history for Jews".

    *SPIT*

    Case closed.  So much for Zogby objectivity.

    As for Iraq. It is painfully clear to me that the Iranian sponsored terror in Iraq is very much a part of the global war on terror. And the war on terror is (and always was) a global war.  The Cartoon Jihad is empirical evidence of that. Iraq is and was very much a part of the terror network. Twelve years flouting sanctions alone would have legitimized the war, but Saddam was paying off families of suicide bombers. He was bankrolling the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine through the UN oil-for-food program. The oil for food crimes!

    Saddam used our taxpayer money to bomb innocents. He gave Abu Nidal, infamous Palestinian terrorist responsible for the deaths of hundreds, safe harbor for decades protecting the grisly executioner of wheelchair-bound American Leon Klinghoffer. WTF was going on at Salmon Pac? Al-queda trained their pilots in that full sized passenger airliner fuselage. It didn't fly, but they "trained" for missions using this fuselage.

    Saddam had WMD. The developing story of Saddam secreting his WMD  into Syria is the icing on the cake. More on that here.

    The ongoing fight on the ground in Iraq is part of the global war on Radical Islamic terror.

    The left's contention that "Iraq was a mistake, not part of al qaeda, 9/11, the war on terror" is blatantly irrational, and illogical. It is a fallacy. And for those of you who claim Bush and his administration are secretive, non communicative - I counter that the mainstream media gives the man no time, no platform, no opportunity to air his strategy. They hate him. They will sell this country and our national security down the river to undo him. They will aid and abet the enemy to give their own arguments validation.

    Please read Max Friedman's Betrayal of America --   most excellent, brilliant,  hard hitting piece here.(thanks to Chas)

    I see Iraq as a great success. Not because of the stories you rarely see or hear for example here and here. The success in Iraq is a country of 50 million people liberated from a despot and centuries of totalitarianism, of living under the boot of dictators. That can't be easy.

That does not make failure de facto. Our objectives are noble. And what would be the alternative. In my mind, there is no alternative. The American people are not paying attention here.

    I met a Yemen Muslim woman who lived in the United States for 20 years (her husband married her at 13 and brought to the US, then summarily dumped her 10 years later) . This woman still lived in fear of Radical Islam - 20 years later - in America.

    SO THIS CAN BE  NO EASY TASK. If you don't have the stomach for it, get out of the way. Our world, our way of life must be saved. But the left can not be the monkey on our backs.

    We elected George Bush, we elected him to do the job. Why won't they let this man do the job we elected him to do? I know, I know the polls say this, the polls say that, but at the end of  the day the only poll that means anything is the elections. Respect that.

    UPDATE:  Victor Davis Hanson apparently sees things as I do, READ IT A-L-L;

    AT WAR WITH OURSELVES,
    We're winning in Iraq. Let's not lose at home.

    The second-guessing of 2003 still daily obsesses us: We should have had better intelligence; we could have kept the Iraqi military intact; we would have been better off deploying more troops. Had our forefathers embraced such a suicidal and reactionary wartime mentality, Americans would have still torn each other apart over Valley Forge years later on the eve of Yorktown--or refought Pearl Harbor even as they steamed out to Okinawa.

    There is a more disturbing element to these self-serving, always evolving pronouncements of the "my perfect war, but your disastrous peace" syndrome. Conservatives who insisted that we needed more initial troops are often the same ones who now decry that too much money has been spent in Iraq. Liberals who chant "no blood for oil" lament that we unnecessarily ratcheted up the global price of petroleum. Progressives who charge that we are imperialists also indict us for being naively idealistic in thinking democracy could take root in post-Baathist Iraq and providing aid of a magnitude not seen since the Marshall Plan. For many, Iraq is no longer a war whose prognosis is to be judged empirically. It has instead transmogrified into a powerful symbol that apparently must serve deeply held, but preconceived, beliefs--the deceptions of Mr. Bush, the folly of a neoconservative cabal, the necessary comeuppance of the American imperium, or the greed of an oil-hungry U.S.

    If many are determined to see the Iraqi war as lost without a plan, it hardly seems so to 130,000 U.S. soldiers still over there. They explain to visitors that they have always had a design: defeat the Islamic terrorists; train a competent Iraqi military; and provide requisite time for a democratic Iraqi government to garner public support away from the Islamists.

    The New York Sun reports the architect on the Jacob Javitz center is a Jew hater - my words, not theirs;

    BOYCOTT OF ISRAEL IS BEING MULLED BY JAVITS ARCHITECT

    London Group Hosted by Rogers Condemns the Jewish State

    The lead architect tapped to head the $1.7 billion redesign of the Jacob K. JavitsLord_rogers_nazi Convention Center last month hosted the founding meeting of an association of professional building designers considering a boycott against Israel.

       On February 2, Richard Rogers gave his office space for the inaugural meeting of Architects and Planners for Justice in Palestine in his London headquarters.

    A statement from the new organization released on February 9 condemns any individual or company working on “occupied territory” as violating their professional ethics and being complicit in promoting “an apartheid system of environmental control.”

    The Independent newspaper of London also said the meeting broached the idea of recommending that Israeli architects be kicked out of the International Union of Architects.

    [...] the group’s coordinator, Abe Hayeem, was an old friend of Lord Rogers. She added that the intention of the organization was to “promote peace.” [uh oh...as soon as you hear that euphemism, duck and run -Atlas]

    Who is responsible for this?

       Javits was one of the Jewish state’s staunchest defenders in the Senate, where he served from 1956 to 1981. In particular, he was one of the toughest voices to oppose the Arab boycott of Israel in the 1970s. In 1986 President Reagan singled out the Jewish lawmaker’s support

    The irony of that can not be lost. THIS ARCHITECT MUST BE FIRED IF WHAT THE SUN REPORTS IS TRUE. The reporter, Eli Lake, is one of the best. Meanwhile look at Rogers' picture, he has that Nazi SS thing happening.

    Meanwhile where is Jihad Hillary and Dubai Chuckie? They make me sick.

    This just in, stay tuned as the story develops. I think we’ll be seeing people die in the coming days. You know, from "reactions"….

    MANIFESTO:

    Together facing the new totalitarianism

    After having overcome fascism, Nazism, and Stalinism, the world now faces a new totalitarian global threat: Islamism.

    We, writers, journalists, intellectuals, call for resistance to religious totalitarianism and for the promotion of freedom, equal opportunity and secular values for all.

    The recent events, which occurred after the publication of drawings of Muhammed in European newspapers, have revealed the necessity of the struggle for these universal values. This struggle will not be won by arms, but in the ideological field. It is not a clash of civilisations nor an antagonism of West and East that we are witnessing, but a global struggle that confronts democrats and theocrats.

    Like all totalitarianisms, Islamism is nurtured by fears and frustrations. The hate preachers bet on these feelings in order to form battalions destined to impose a liberticidal and unegalitarian world. But we clearly and firmly state: nothing, not even despair, justifies the choice of obscurantism, totalitarianism and hatred. Islamism is a reactionary ideology which kills equality, freedom and secularism wherever it is present. Its success can only lead to a world of domination: man’s domination of woman, the Islamists’ domination of all the others. To counter this, we must assure universal rights to oppressed or discriminated people.

    We reject « cultural relativism », which consists in accepting that men and women of Muslim culture should be deprived of the right to equality, freedom and secular values in the name of respect for cultures and traditions. We refuse to renounce our critical spirit out of fear of being accused of "Islamophobia", an unfortunate concept which confuses criticism of Islam as a religion with stigmatisation of its believers.

    We plead for the universality of freedom of expression, so that a critical spirit may be exercised on all continents, against all abuses and all dogmas.

    We appeal to democrats and free spirits of all countries that our century should be one of Enlightenment, not of obscurantism.

    Mad Hot off the Presses Net ~ Bush White House Reads the Blogs

    The White House has acknowledged the power of the blogs as I have here, here and here - it'sCavalry been one Gutenberg moment after another. I am not surprised by this. The blogs have become the tail wagging the dog. Apparently the White House agrees. How lovely to see Presidential acknowledgment -- mad hot, eh?

    Drudge reports here on comments made by President Bush and his top advisers on the importance of blogs, and what the CBS memo scandal showed about mainstream media. President Bush said, “the amazing thing about this world we live in is that there’s a kind of free-flowing, kind of bulletin board of ideas and thoughts out there in the ether space, sometimes landing on somebody’s desk and sometimes not, but always available. It’s a very interesting period.“

    BUSH CHEERS DECLINE OF MAINSTREAM MEDIA, RISE OF ALTERNATIVE PRESS

    ROVE SLAMS DAN RATHER: NOT A 'SERIOUS' REPORTER

    President Bush, for the first time, is hailing the rise of the alternative media and the decline of the mainstream media, which he now says “conspired” to harm him with forged documents.

    Gutenberg “I find it interesting that the old way of gathering the news is slowly but surely losing market share,” Bush said in an exclusive interview for the new book STRATEGERY. “It’s interesting to watch these media conglomerates try to deal with the realities of a new kind of world.”

    [STRATEGERY was ranked #5 on AMAZON.COM's sales chart early Tuesday morning.]

    For example, journalist Dan Rather left the anchor chair at CBS News after Internet reporters revealed he had used forged documents to criticize Bush’s military record in September 2004. The forgeries, which Bush now calls a conspiracy, ended up helping his reelection campaign, he acknowledged in the Oval Office interview.

    “It looks like somebody conspired to float false documents,” the president tells author Bill Sammon. “And I was amazed about it. I just couldn’t believe that would be happening [and] then it would become the basis of a fairly substantial series of news stories.”

    He added: “Then there was a backlash to it. I mean, a lot of people were angry that this could have happened. A lot of Americans are fair people and they viewed this as patently unfair. So in a funny way, I guess it inured to our benefit, when it was all said and done.”

    The episode, known as “Memogate,” inoculated Bush against further scrutiny of his National Guard record for the duration of the presidential campaign.

    Developing...

    Rove said Rather’s eagerness to broadcast obviously forged documents proves he is “no serious reporter.” As for Rather’s insistence, to this day, that the documents are real, Rove said: “That’s really bias.”

    Little_green_footballs_memogate_1 Memogate has helped accelerate the decline of the mainstream media, generally defined as CBS, NBC, ABC, The New York Times and other establishment news outlets. “I think what’s healthy is that there’s no monopoly on the news,” Bush said. “There’s competition. There’s competition for the attention of, you know, 290 million people, or whatever it is.

    Having long been pilloried by the mainstream media, Bush now finds the rise of the alternative media nothing less than revolutionary.

    “It’s the beginning of the twenty-first century; it also happens to be the beginning of—or near the beginning—of a revolution in newsgathering and dissemination,” he said. “Not in news making—that tends to be pretty consistent.”

    Rove considers Memogate a watershed in the rise of the alternative media.

    “The whole incident in the fall of 2004 showed really the power of the 'blogosphere',” he said in his West Wing office.

    “Because in essence you had now, an army of self-appointed experts looking over the shoulder of the mainstream media and bringing to bear enormously sophisticated skills,” he added.

    Still, Rove cautioned that the Internet’s political potential has a darker side.

    “There is so much ugliness and viciousness and fundamental untruths that the blogosphere transmits,” he lamented. “It also is a vehicle for ugly rumors, for scurrilous personal attacks, an avenue for the creation of urban legends which are deeply corrosive of the political system and of people’s faith in it.”

    Army_of_davids Yes Mr. Rove but the Army of Davids stand at the ready to correct and address those very inaccuracies. KOS, Kos kidz, DU will always spew their invective but at least there is an immediate counter balance. They may have George Soros and his Air America slush fund, but we have right. We have fact, truth and now we have an important means of communication to get the word out there. We are the messengers, think Paul Revere.

    The trend is undeniable...According to a new study released from Outsell today, the research and advisory firm based in Burlingame, Calif., found that  newspapers are lagging as the dominant source for national information.  28% of those surveyed said they get their national news from online sites (and this is just the beginning of the revolution -- just the beginning.) 71% of those surveyed said they get their national news from broadcast news shows and cable TV, while only 33% said they get it from newspapers.

    It's nothing you don't already know if you are here in the Atlas sphere but it is still a  delicious read never the less.

    Uh, can I get my White House Press credentials now?  I wanna sit next to Helen Thomas and whisper sweet objectivist musings in her good ear.

    More Good Can Come from the Dubai Port Deal: END ISRAEL BOYCOTT, DEAL BREAKER

    I stand behind my original call of the Post deal with Dubai here and here and here.
    It is not a security detail, good economic deals make good friends and the more Arab friends we have in the war on terror the better.
    Vital Perspective points out that Dubai Ports World Participates in Arab Boycott of Israel

    Dubai Ports World, the company involved in the UAE port deal, participates in the Arab boycott against Israel.

    "Yes, of course the boycott is still in place and is still enforced," Muhammad Rashid a-Din, a staff member of the Dubai Customs Department's Office for the Boycott of Israel, told the The Jerusalem Post in a telephone interview. U.S. law bars firms from complying with such requests or cooperating with attempts by Arab governments to boycott Israel. The U.S. Department of Commerce lists the UAE anti-Israel boycott requirement as a "prohibited boycott condition in an invitation to bid" under examples of boycott requests from the UAE that has been reported to the Office of Antiboycott Compliance. The "prohibited boycott condition" reads:

    "Documents to accompany tenders [include] the declaration and Israel boycott certificate. It states the tenderer must accompany his offer with the following, written signed declaration. "We declare that we are a company which is not owned by any companies that have violated the approved rules of the boycott and that we do not own or participate in companies that are in violation of the approved rules of the boycott. Further, we do not have, nor does any of the companies that are considered to be a parent company or a branch of ours, any dealings with any Israeli party, whether directly or indirectly." Furthermore, a certificate issued by the Israel boycott office in UAE confirming that neither the supplier nor the manufacturer are blacklisted, should also be accompanied."

    In one instance, according to a Department of Commerce press release, a New York-based exporter pai
